Are these speculative? Where is the source that these are the prices?

ZOS's greed has outstripped their sense of what the playerbase will pay.

I'm not paying for ***, I wasn't anyway but now that I've seen the prices, I think ZOS has gone insane.

A complete bargain. Just like the 6000cr motif and the elk were bargains. Buying a manor and the probable cost of fully furnishing it will run into more than what a lot of people fork out for their monthly house payment. Hey, Love, do you mind if I forfeit the mortgage payment this month to buy my in-game house? Will need to furnish it too".

I just have a problem with in-game vanity items, that add no additional functionality to the game, that cost more than the game that they're coded into...

Maybe I'm too old, but that just seems like the very definition of a rip off.

    ^This.

And for those saying "You can get them in game with gold!" They've already said that there's going to be Crown Store exclusive homes as well. So no. No matter how many times I try to throw my gold that way, it's not going to matter for those houses.

If they are cheap on crown store no one will buy housing items in game and the actual in game economy will suffer because of it. Making the prices in the high range protects the game economy.

In that case, not surprised at all. Stop complaining people, if you dont like it, buy it with gold. Been saying for a while that I expected the furnished manors to be about 15k-25k crowns. Did they mention how much these would be furnished?

10k for an unfurnished manor if anything is lower than I expected. There will be thousands of count/countesses walking around on patch day. I know people that dropped way more than 30k crowns on crown crates.

A house in game, much like in real life, is probably a long-term investment.

I probably wont be purchasing a house at all cus I don't really care too much for cosmetics and roleplaying. I have however considered purchasing a house to make a dueling institute, and thats something my friends and I could use for a long time if I decided to see it through. To that end, a house will see much more use for a longer period of time than a quest based dlc or constantly switching races.

This is all besides the point that nothing is compelling you to buy the more expensive houses or to buy them with crowns. So in summary I feel the same way regarding this as I did crown crates. People have 2 options:

    1.) Acquire more disposable income.
    2.) Acquire more modest tastes.

I came back to the game last month after a long break because of my excited for Homestead.

I've done nothing since that time but prepare: Gathering mats, farming for gold, completing achievements. I even purchased more than 10,000 crowns to be able to both get the house and some of the cool crown only furniture.

I'm really not sure I am going to resub in a few days after this announcement. All the excitement is just gone. I'll either have to buy it completely unfurnished and use almost all of my crowns, or settle for a home that I'm not happy with (or spend more hours in-game grinding gold than I am able to right now).

All are options I suppose, but the whole thing has left a very bitter taste in my mouth.

The smartest way to do housing seems to be, buy the house with gold, craft most of your furniture, and buy select, hard to get items with crowns. Of course you will be investing time, 3 - 4 months maybe, to get all your furniture through crafting.

The real smartest way would be if some people realised that but for a select type of player, these houses will be a 1 hour time sink before the novelty wears off and they're back standing in Mournhold spamming their AoE's. That's the only reason I won't be touching them because I know it will be no more exciting than standing next to some house in the wilderness after an hour or two.

Well I still want the island and it looks like my crafter toon is going to be busy crafting the furniture which I think is the intent of the pricing. If you want a fully furnish house then you will have to pay for it.

I kinda guessed what the prices would be. Looks like I was close.

Well, the fact it has no storage made the decision for me.

I was mentally limiting my willingness to pay at around 10k crowns, as I’m already sitting on over half that in crowns.

So with that bit of bias i think the prices are reasonable.

I'll have to wait to see how much they're charging for furnished houses. Not that it matters to me since I won't purchase a house for crowns, though.

Well they closed my thread so I'll post it here in short. I was super excited to buy a house with crowns as I work much more than I have time to play these days. But after seeing these prices I will be sticking to a small home with in game gold. I agree with previous posts there is little to no incentive to ever even return to your home.

protecting the in game economy means absolutely nothing if you drive away your playerbase with overpriced real world currency items.

whats really sad is that I've saved up a lot of crowns and they will seemingly just be GONE on Feb 21st but i can't buy anything else between now and then for 1 manor

So, if I use discounted crowns, the unfurnished mansion is $45.44. Buying the title would cost $136.32 . A bit pricey, and I would really only take the time to decorate one.

Honestly, these are about what I was expecting the crown prices to be. I was worried that ZOS would shoot themselves in the foot by making the prices much higher, like the 50K crowns that some people predicted.

The way they've priced it, most of the homes cost less than the crowns you get by buying the largest crown pack, while the biggest homes are the only ones that cost more. This makes the biggest homes something that most people won't get, but people who have been sitting on large amounts of crowns for quite some time are likely to spend their stockpiles on them.

If the crown prices were lower, then they would be a significant limitation on the gold sink aspect of housing. People would look at the crown prices and then just forget about buying them with gold. As it is, the crown prices are high enough that some people will choose to buy homes with gold, while being low enough that other people will choose to buy homes with crowns. That's the exact situation that ZOS would have been shooting for.

So basically what we've got is gold prices that allow for a home of some sort for every price range (from free all the way up to costing millions), and crown prices that allow for a home of some sort for every price range.

For people who play a lot and make tons of gold this is good, as they can easily find a home (or two or three) within their price range and buy it. For people who don't play a lot and don't make a ton of gold, if they get sticker shock at the gold prices for the homes they really want, they can then check out the prices in crowns, and find one that's in their price range for crowns without getting sticker shock a second time when they look at the crown prices (except for the biggest homes & manors - but it's OK for some homes to be out of most people's price ranges).
