I think the real problem is in the mid levels. You hit a slump where the enemies just get to doing too much damage too fast, while you can't seem to damage them. Every fight with a pack of throwaway enemies suddenly became a long and drawn out affair where I'd be lucky to just make it out alive.

It just gets too boring to play a lot of the time because every little battle feels like a chore.

I like the system overall, but I think it needs another pass to rectify this.

Seems to hit me at around 39-40. Now when i hit 50 i max out because of the way cp works so i cant tell you how that feels to me.

But right around 39-40ish even with proper equip, i usually go from feeling pretty good, to feeling like i cant do damage and i cant keep resources. I would assume there is a large step in the scaling there somewhere.

Maybe it's more build or class dependent. On this account (my PC one), my mid level NB and Sorc were struggling to even walk from point A to point B without being surrounded by random enemies and killed. On my PS4 account I just leveled a Templar to 40ish without as much trouble, although the sudden power drop was noticeable at 25.

Losing stats as I level up is seriously counter-intuitive, but I'd say it's a small price to pay for never outleveling content.

I DO agree with this^. I remember leveling before, as I tend to be an altaholic... and I would always venture to higher level zones to acquire Skyshards early on, and always had to sneak past enemies as drawing aggro usually meant instant death. But now, after OT, I can venture to those previously higher zones and defeat every enemy as I go... I like that much better.

lol at you for thinking that an answer of "no" to the question "Getting weaker when you level up, how do you feel?" has any meaning at all, let alone the meaning you seem to have attributed to it. The question posed by the poll can't be answered with a yes or no - it's a complete non-sequitur. The poll options might as well have been:

As you level up the buff diminishes. Think of it as the training wheels coming off.

As you level you get more skills and passives allowing you to refine your build. If you are wearing level 1 gear and spamming one attack you will get weaker. The idea is to build a rotation and keep your gear up to date.

I cant imagine how someone cant get answer yes as "Yes, i feel weaker" and no as "No, i dont feel weaker"

Always remember on the forums that if you dont bend a traintrack to explain things, you are not understood.

Asking "Getting weaker when you level up, how do you feel"

should be absolutely clear that "Yes" mean i feel getting weaker and no means "No, i dont feel weaker"

Easy? In the midle is the point where on feels exact same with his/her character the whole leveling experience, other side of that line is yes and other side no...

Or "You feel weaker when leveling up" Yes/no, cant be more clear than that.

For it to read the way you mean it to be read, you'd need to phrase it like "Do you feel weaker as you level up?"

The way you wrote it the question is the same as saying "How do you feel about getting weaker as you level up?" which is simply not a yes or no question.

I'm trying to solo the group content in Craglorn for a challenge, and I do indeed feel like I am getting progressively weaker as I level up.

I started this zone at around CP 70-ish before One Tamriel came out, and understandably there was a bunch of group stuff there that completely owned me.

However I had something to look forward to, because I knew I would gradually level up, get more CP talents and slowly but surely get stronger gear through crafting etc.

Now I am CP 140, and I think I was about CP 100 or so when One Tamriel hit. I've been trying to solo those focus crystals. Every 10 CP (100, 110, 120, 130 and now 140) I would use my Blacksmithing to increase the tier level of all my weapons and armor and take another crack at the Focus Crystals.

It seems with every new attempt I just get owned even harder. The enemies just keep hitting harder and harder. Since I'm already in "CP zone" I don't really get any new tools, just (supposedly) slightly incremental increases in damage, spell resistance, etc etc.

But the enemies just seem to outpace me more and more with every level up. I used to be able to destroy the Focus Crystal while holding off the enemies long enough for the boss to spawn. That was back at CP100.

Now I can't even last 30 seconds with all my upgrades. They have regressed to the 2007 Oblivion era of the player character getting weaker as enemies get stronger while you level up. It's a real shame.

I wish there were an option to completely decline the One Tamriel scaling, I'm starting to hate it. I can't find anything that has appropriate difficultly anymore.

    My choices are as follows:

    (1) Do solo content, which all scales to my level, which is incredibly easy and thus boring.

    (2) Do group content with a group of random players I don't know, with players that have probably already completed said content dozens of times and can do it with their eyes closed, making all the encounters boring and easy;

    (3) try to solo the group content, which is becoming progressively more and more impossible as I level up because the enemies just keep outscaling me more and more.

With the old scaling system I always had the feeling that I could attempt group activities solo that were too difficult, but then level up, get stronger and try again. With the new system it just feels like it will be utterly impossible. By the time I hit CP 600 this group stuff will just kill me in 3 hits.

Overall, I didn't feel any huge difference tbh

I do feel that keeping your gear updated as you level is more important now. The fact that gear degrades noticeably even at one levels difference may factor in as to why you feel "weaker" as you level.

leveling an templar alt from 20 it was an bit weird, did not feel I got much weaker, running in an blue crafted set.
Weapon was updated but armor was level 26.
Now I grinded quite a bit so I was skill point starved, I also knew about DoT and animation canceling so skill point and ability unlock was important.
Overall balance was pretty even all the way.
Shock was at level 50 and I was CP220 and an wimp, had previously put all points into magic, but that left me with 13k health after food so my magic level is probably lower now as I had to put 20 into health.
Gear is far better, all crafted or bop but purple and gold weapons putting me back on track.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

Would say that the progression as I have leveled up has been that I have gotten stronger not weaker.

It was difficult at first leveling from 1-50 then on through the veteran ranks but with Champion Points and One Tamriel it has gotten better solo and with groups.

I used to need to group to do the daily quests for the Undaunted but now have been able to easily solo Spindleclutch I, Banished Cells I, etc... so am able to get a key every day that I am on (Though I am sure I would never be able to do the II versions).

Though I still suck at PvP (was never good at that); I have always enjoyed the challenges of PvE.

Now anything has upsides or downsides, you can not go back and wipe the world boss you had so much problems with.
Remember Arduin public dungeon at high level as I skipped it on level up so I did it for achievement and skillpoint.
Lots of new players at the time so I organized an raid group and I did multiple runs in the dungeon.

On the other hand earlier it was easy to overlevel the quest content if you did everything worse if you also did pvp or group dungeons. Now you can do the quests in between other content.
And its lot of players around that was an issue in the veteran zones.

I'm new and my newest toon is only 20 ... however I have played many other mmos so I'm not quite a pure noob ... that being said, this system is totally new to me.

I'm used to being able to come back after a few levels to defeat a dungeon or boss that was previously too hard. From my experience so far on most of my characters the difference is flat. I see no real gain or loss with each new level, every battle feels the same more or less.

In a way this seems boring, spamming the same abilities and mobs and watching them die (most battles are really easy) BUT in another way I like the way it breaks the mold as I now realize I don't have to "level up to go there" and it's almost a shock to my pre-programmed way of looking at mmos to think "hey I can just go do anything now" ... really cool but I'm still getting used to it lol.

One point I totally agree on, the nightshade I made is BY FAR my weakest character! After reading your OP, I fear for her future. She can barely get by at lvl 10... if she gets any weaker she's gonna end up "designated mule" ...

From what I've seen so far, and despite the things that kept me from playing at launch ... (no full loot pvp <like darkfall> no craftable in world housing <like uo > , and just a general non-sandbox feel, I have to say the creators put together a fairly unique system and a generally pretty cool world to play in ... having plenty of fun so far!

You are not getting weaker, it's your gear that is getting outdated.

For me, the worst is NB, the more i level, the weaker they get, no matter what build i try. With my CP160+ NB, i have spent tens of thousands of gold trying to get one working build that feels good but only heavy armor with sword and board has been somewhat good though it does not feel very assasin to me which my character pretends to be.. Currently bow using with medium armor, keeps dying and sneak attacks from behind rarely get the bonus at all.

My NB, no matter the build just sucks at high levels while other still keep up well though sorc and Templar feel slightly weaker.

It makes no sense since wwhen i am attacking the exact same enemies, they get way stronger when i level up, should i be the one who gets better when gaining experience?

To be fair, Stamina Nightblades have the hardest time surviving in PvE due to a natural lack of defenses. Magblades can spam cloak and have more magicka to use their CC's. I recommend hitting up Cyrodiil this week and unlock Vigor ASAP. That will help immensely. Also, take advantage of your magicka bar to use it as your combat buff resource - things like Double Take and Reaper's Mark will help you burst down enemies quickly. If you struggle with multiple enemies at once, choose Dual Wield as a front bar option and use Steel Tornado in conjunction with Caltrops to clear rooms better. These changes come in time and during that period you will need to focus more on survival. It's worth the wait if you endure the initial pain!

What? I haven't noticed a big difference. Right now I have 3 toons in the 3xx CP range, and 3 that are below lvl 20. From what I can see is that my lower lvl characters take LONGER to take down mobs, where as I can solo some dungeons on my PVE DPS Magblade (haven't tested on the other two). I'm pretty damn sure a low lvl toon cant do that, in fact I'm pretty sure you'd struggle to get past the first pack of mobs inside the dungeon.

So no, I'd say the opposite of what you're saying, higher lvls are easier.

    UPDATE:
Oh, also I wear a mix of crafted and non-crafted set gear. Right now on my PVE DPS MagbladeI think I'm wearing Julianos and Destruction Mastery. My armour lvls are CP 160, with a mix of gold and purple quality.

Keeping your armor up-to-date is far more important with 1T. The scaling really starts to punish around 7-10 levels above your equipped gear. This only a minor inconvenience to crafters, but for those using dropped gear it's not even an issue most of time. If you struggle with dropped gear, hit up a dolmen a few times and get some jewelry set bonuses to help you out. Every zone now has a "Tank", "Mage", and "Rogue" oriented set to utilize. Pick the bonuses that work best for your build and go from there.

If you feel you are getting weaker as you level, either your gear or your build or your food is not properly suited to your level.

As you level up, you need to specialize and work harder to keep your resource pools high. You need to keep up your skill points to unlock passives (Class, Armor, and Guild passives) to make up for the loss of free stats that are given to make low-level characters competitive.

High and above-cap characters will deal significantly more damage, or be significantly more durable, or be significantly better support/healers than below-cap characters if built well. If you do not build well, you'll feel weaker until you adjust your build.
