They dropped the ball completely when trying to nerf proccsets in pvp, what they ended up doing was nerf them very much so in pve, but not rly do much in terms of pvp. Sure they wont hit as hard as before, but they are still stackable with other sets and with other players using same sets vs same targets.

Large scale blanket changes generally do not have w a positive outcome.

I consider this a large scale blanket change. Crit heals and damage on proc sets touch somewhere around 70'ish sets give or take to handle a dozen? Or so sets that are currently causing a lot of problems.

Not saying this is not a positive step but it touches a lot of things in this game outside of viper - velidreth - selenes ganks.

Alcast brings up two rather unique examples and the poster mentioning Spawn of Mephala another.

On top of an underriding issue; if the change is enough of a DPS loss to make other gear options besides monster sets more advantageous the could in one swoop kill any reason to run dungeons for 2 - X months until they balance patch again. Which for PVP players may seem great but for the percentage of the community makes the game harder to play.

Hoping this works out well, won't be surprised if it flops.

Doesn't mean the sets won't be individually balanced. Not that I would count on it either, but yeah. They need to be looked at and redone individually. Why in the hell would anyone ever want to use a set that has a lower chance to proc, on a longer cooldown, and which does less damage? Like no one really thought these things through the first time.

Is anyone really going to be surprised though? This is the zenimax way, screw something up but either destroy or do nothing to the original issue.

Yeah this is one of the most ill conceived changes they have ever made. A PvP nerf that only really effects PvE. Nobody goes into PvP looking to crit it is all about raw base damage, outside of stealth ganking. But in PvE you focus on crit due to factors like thief and shadow mundus, major/minor force and class passives like pressure points, hemmorage, piercing spear and exploitation. How anyone can agree with this change to PvE is beyond me. Change the sets, change PvP but do not remove a whole stat from these sets especially the undaunted.

70 sets worth of collateral damage to "fix" 7 of them. Seems about right.

I'm really hoping they do individual passes on all the proc sets (and other sets too while they're at it) knowing that most were underpowered before this nerf hit and will be worse than garbage without some tweaking to go along with the nerf. The Leeching set in particular as mentioned above really hurts as I'm using that set in niche situations but I'm not destroying the leaderboards in pvp with it. Don't judge all proc sets on the overpowered nature of a few. Blanket nerfs like this are never a good solution.

I'm curious about how Ice Heart is supposed to work now lol. I know no one really uses it. I just think it's funny.

    1) adds 688 spell crit

2)When you deal Critical Damage, you have a 20% chance to gain a damage shield that absorbs 8600 damage for 6 seconds. While the damage shield holds, you deal 770 Cold Damage to all enemies within 5 meters of you every 1 second. This effect can occur once every 6 seconds.

Ice heart will still be able to procc off critical damage done by non procc attacks (so basically any attack of your typical iceheart build except winterborn) .
The pulsing AoE of it however will no longer be able to crit.

After nearly 3 years playing this game, we know ZOS.
    • We know the cure is usually worse than the disease.
    • We know the combat fundamentals, which have been rotting every since craplorn came out and PvP started its period of neglect, are often ignored in favor of superficial bandaid fixes.
    • We know that the loudest voices are often heard and the best performing sets, skills, etc get nerfed while underperforming or broken sets rarely get a buff.
    • We know that the amount of regen can be attained and how skills scale so strongly from attribute stacking is the root cause of a lot of issues but sets and skills get nerfed instead of resource scaling and regen.

I can still be hopeful for change that ZOS will address the fundamentals and do more buffs than nerfs but forgive us our skepticism.

Buff Ashen Grip, and all under-performing crafted sets for that matter. Proc sets aren't that bad. Its just bad when there are only about 4 powerful ones.

Yes!. The issue is stacking damage procs (viper/widow etc) this is gonna hurt sets that aren't the issue. which is a shame. really hope they re-think this and come up with another solution.

true - however, you could at least say that their sneak peak is chosen weirdly. especially if you look at the aoe cap part without any mention of eots vs other aoe attacks rebalance. i'll still hope for the best, but the sneak peak didn't really get me excited
