Xp boosters to make up for 14+ hours in downtime within 2 days.

Give this post a thumbs up (or other positive check) if you think that this is reasonable. It would cost the company nothing to do so but for 14 hours downtime in 2 days I really do think it's the least they could do for their 'valued' customers.

To be clear I mean 14 hours worth of xp boosters to be used at our convenience, not just a 1 hour xp booster to make up for 14 hours downtime or an xp weekend which some of us may work over.

I know there's going to be Zenimax sympathizers that insist they owe us nothing but it can't be that unreasonable to give us some xp to make up for time that we could not get xp.

For me personally this has added up to 2 days of being unable to play at all, so a simple "oops! Thanks for your patience" isn't really enough for me. At least where I work if we mess up someone's coffee or meal we fix it and offer them a free coffee for the next time, we don't just say "oops, your problem now bro!".

This makes you happy, doesn't solve this buggy game and that is exactly what they need to start to care about.
I think this idea is just BS.

I'd rather have no scroll and a fixed game.

Quickly? You call 14 hours (over 2 days) "quickly"? I'd hate to see them take their time on something....

Oh and what exactly are they fixing anyways? Have they even cared to tell us? Are there patch notes for it?

I don't understand the logic behind this, do you expect your doctor to reimburse your time for keeping you waiting in the bad magazine room?

Chicken nuggets took too long, give me free ones.

This ain't Domino's, there isn't a 30min or it's free clause in that contract you didn't read but accepted.

It would cost them quite a lot actually as it sets a precedent, if they coddle you and give you things because you are sad, you will expect it every time they mess up. And make no mistake they mess up a lot.

Forums are fun though when there is downtime.

Not needed and should not happen. Maintenance is part of any MMO and should be expected.

So as a company when they screw up, that's on us. We should be the ones to take a hit and if we don't like it we can go screw ourselves. It's this mentality that makes games go dead or at least have a much slimmer customer base than they would have if the company actually cared about it's customers (or at least showed it did). Ya'kno why Dominos gives you that free pizza? Because that keeps you coming back and buying more. It's called good business.

I mean the alternative was leave the servers running and play with 10k+ latency...

Yeah.. I'm glad it is offline and they are working out the problem.

Not for 14 friggin hours within 2 days. I'm not new to mmo's. I've been playing eq2 for years and it was never that bad for downtime without a damn good excuse like xpac being installed on servers, not "oops, sorry, we twip over power cord, you wait now for long time! Thx for your patience!"

Except that in every restaraunt example you cited, if it does take inordinately long, the manager will likely comp the meal.

    Cared about its customers?

You mean make sure that the game works as it should, even if that means taking the server down for a set time?

I get it, you feel slighted, but you are not special, your time is not more important than anyone elses and because this interferes with YOUR time doesn't mean the millions of other people are affected by it.

Also, if you don't like it, leave. Speak with your pocketbook, not with complaining forum posts asking for compensation of time. So why double XP? Why not give you gold, or AP or what have you, what about all the people who don't need XP? What about all the people at work right now who this doesn't affect at all? They should all get something because the server went down when they couldn't even play nor would play?

Send in a ticket, ask them for your special snowflake time for YOU, demanding they give thousands upon thousands of people free crap because reasons is just childish.

If you would've done what you *should've* done when you started the game: READ THE ToS.
It clearly states that we do not have the right to demand compensation and that they have the right to take the game offline as they see fit.

Why can't people just l2read what they're agreeing to. You wouldn't sign a contract without reading it - which is basically what you're doing when you're creating an account; signing a contract. Ain't anyone's fault you feel obliged to compensation, because you were too lazy to read what you agreed to.

Sigh. Laziness. 1st World's worst disease with a solution.

Well, I think one could say they do owe us to learn from their mistakes and know what they are doing. I've been playing since summer and the only difference in their maintenance fiascoes is that they do them less so we see this nonsense less. But as a paying customer I feel they are 100% no different than every other company where if you received a broken product or a product that broke down regularly you would be pissed as all hell, stop using the product, never trust the company, etc.

Why they get a pass is beyond me. All I can conclude is that young gamers are so addicted to their games and so completely not experienced in purchasing products that they don't realize that a product that works well and as expected and functions more than some of the time is actually the way it should be and when it is not, people stop buying and using those products. Massive corporations have failed because of such things. They lost customers, lost sales, been driven nearly out of business because they did not deliver products that met the expectations of consumers. The only reason that hasn't happened (though actually it almost did at beta from stories I have heard) is that 1) it offers a unique product and there is nothing on the market like it nor will there be (minus a six year old game) as Todd Howard has stated there is no TES in the works at this time more than once. 2) Their customers are probably addicts. 3) They appeal to a market of high school and college kids who have not yet learned that with every product there are expectations that said product should function as expected consistently. Welcome to the wonderful world of gaming. Where people excuse everything so long as they get to play their game enough of the time to feed their addiction. XD

No one reads the damn ToS. It clearly falls under the TL;DR unless people are lawyers or love reading or extremely bored/boring. Personally I'd rather read a thesaurus, those have more useful information.

I didn't think it was that unreasonable. As a business, they are inconveniencing their paying customers, without us they got nothing. The customer is essentially the highest ranking individual in any business because without them the business doesn't exist. I don't just mean me, I mean anyone that is a customer of this game. So a smart business decision would be that after 2 days of downtime, they could make some tiny effort to compensate us rather than just thanking us for our patience(which many of us are out of).

Yes and when you compare the USA to a third world country it looks amazing! But when you make more realistic comparisons, most (mainstream) mmorpgs don't sport this kinda downtimes for non-major patches.
