Infernal guardian set bug or working as intended?

Now before I start, this isn't a nerf post or anything negative like that. I think the set is cool and with the disparity between stam and magicka sets, it's one of the few good ones. Now onto the intention of this post.

I've noticed that this set when it fires off, will target people that are fully in stealth and hidden, if you fall into the set's criteria. Now this has happened a few times to me where I've been in stealth and all of a sudden the red circle pops directly under me and the mortar shots land. It's not too big of a deal, the circle is small and if you are vamp, you can run out of it before it hits. My concern is should this set be able to directly attack people hidden or stealthed? Another symptom of this is that to an observant player, it telegraph's where a stealthed enemy is hidden. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Pets are also good in sniffing out enemies.

And Infernal Guaerdian is similarily "out of control" as pets ;)

I guess it is intended, but only ZOS knows
"I still do not understand why I followed the advice of Captain Rana to bring the villagers of Bleakrock into safety. We should have fought for our village and not have backed down, with our tail between our legs. Now my home village is in shambles, the houses burning, the invaders feasting.I swear every day to Shor that after Molag Bal has been defeated, I will hunt down the invaders and restore peace in Bleakrock and drink my mead with my friends at the market place".PC-EU

Infernal Guardian is like Depth Charges for submarines. Since there is an average density of 1 Stealthed Nightblade per 3 square meters of Cyrodiil, this set is crucial for flushing them out.

about that "out of control" ?

    or that sniffing ?

I am sure about that sniffing :)

    EDIT
they also know perfectly where an enemy NPC is going to spawn.

The projectile also goes through walls and is used a lot in resource farming.

I'd assume since it's an aoe that it would take you out of stealth.

It's not necessarily a pure AoE like steel tornado or the destro Ult. It first targets the farthest person from you and the mortar is a small AoE on impact. So if you are hidden or stealthed, it will target you directly if you are the furthest person in range of the guy wearing the set, then fire at you.

Hmm, I knew it would fire on or over walls (which I'm pretty sure is intended), but I had no idea it would fire on targets in stealth...

This monster set really is designed for PVP isn't it?

Well that depends on which PvP camp you associate yourself with.

Some PvP players say that "Elder Procs Online" is taking away the core aspects of player versus player by substituting individual player builds, skill, and raid coordination with passive damage (or passive healing for that matter) from the new 5-piece and 2-piece proc sets.

On the other hand, 15K in passive damage almost every six (6) seconds from a Infernal Guardian proc is nice (PvP or PvE). Not only does the proc fire on stealthed players, but it also has no regard for keep walls in Cyrodiil. I would be fighting on the first floor in an outer keep tower and it would fire upstairs at the third floor tower mage. It will also proc from an outpost porch to players dumping enemy oils above

I'm not personally sure which PvP camp I'm with yet. I do have my Infernal Guardian set temporarily in the bank to try out another theorycraft in the meantime.

In PvE this set is really nice for farming public dungeons ... so the multi-purpose use is there.

I don't PVP enough to know which PVP camp I'd be in yet either :p

But the other day I was PVPing with some guildies and I noticed us getting hit with this set a lot. We were defending a keep when I first noticed it, because we kept seeing these AOEs coming at us on the walls and we couldn't see any siege weapons up anywhere. It kept us on our toes, but it didn't seem too OP to me.

I don't really mind the targeting of stealthed targets (and I say this as a player who actively uses stealth), but the set should have a line of sight check. Was fighting a bunch of DC on the ground of the milegate yesterday, while there was someone (I think AD) with this set fighting on the top floor of the milegate. The constant rain of mortars interfering with the fight below is annoying to say the least.

Adding a LoS check will add some counterplay to the set for a stealth based player, as you can use cover to hide from the eye of sauron. It will also prevent the kind of BS like the mortar-through-the-floor.

Insanity is the price of Knowledge. Herma-Mora and Sheogorath, this one bows before thee.

This one does not advocate for any class to be nerfed. There are far deeper underlying issues then a simple "Class Imbalance". The Champion System is the problem. Not classes.

My magicka regeneration is so high, i always move permanently cloaked + concealed weapon for high speed stealth movement without running out of magicka. I ran into someone using that set, and I was being targeted for quite a while, I kept moving out of the damage area, but it didn't take long for his group to realise someone is cloaked in that spot, which forced me out of the area. Was it intended as a damage and stealth detection set ? I don't think so. New sets need to be reworked.
