0% detection radius?

So i encountered someone who's doing this again, dunno how but it seems that the player is stealing lock boxes face to face in front of an npc and not getting detected nor npc's shouting thief. Any idea what sorcery is this? and fyi the player's toon is not a vampire because the player moves slowly in stealth and maintain a human complexity instead of ash white skin.

A Good way to be extremely stealthy is to have all medium armour, (Using the proper medium armour passives) 5 pieces of the night mothers embrace* set, 3 pieces of Night Terror (Although I went 5 pieces for the poison damage upon being hit with a melee attack) & Being either a Khajiit or wood elf (I prefer Khajiit because I am a cat person.)

with this combination, you can practically stand about 2-5 meters in front of an NPC without being seen at all. (I'll be writing a pve guide about it after getting some info from the Khajiiti Doctor himself.)
If you see me anywhere. Know that I am sitting back with a bag of popcorn, watching as ESO burns the goodwill of its player base with practices that only disrespects the players time like it did to me and many others...

If a game does not respect your time, best thing to do is move on from it and find something else.

When I go a-thieving I wear two sets that each reduce my detection radius by 2 meters, on top of whatever bonuses I get from medium armor and Thieves Guild and Legerdemain. (Too lazy to go look up what those include right now.) I can pretty much stand on top of a guy's head and pick a lock right next to him. If I'm not already in stealth, though, I need to move farther away to get hidden.

So yeah, probably just somebody who knows how to maximize his stealth bonuses.

Even with legerdemain and thieves guild passives 0% is impossible . Sounds like a bug with NPCs if directly in front or maybe they popped a invisibility potion . You can be right next to a NPC as long as you are not in the cone of vision .

I used to be medium stamina and i have those passives vampires & legerdemain but i wasn't able to pull off something like that one, anyways here's a more detailed info,
    • I believe there was a timer before you go hidden but this player need not crouch, in fact the player sprints then jumps to a lock box and picks it immediately like no one was watching.
    • The player was also a Redguard.
    • The player is not using any potions nor cloaking skills, just plain old fashion stealing.

Some NPCs don't count as "reporting NPCs" in that you can literally steal things right in their face and you don't get a bounty. These are usually NPCs that are quest-related or somehow required for some story-telling and are invincible.

Sometime they are hard to differentiate and you need some trial and error to tell which ones they are.

Might have legerdemain up high enough to allow them to get an easy "force lock" to get the lockbox open quickly.

    I'm afraid we're stealing from same npc's.

The player does manual lock picking, no force lock involved.

I would say, that the guy was simply not bothered about bounty. NPCs always don't say the thief lines.

Was stealing along with the player for an hour and no npc's spoken nor shout thief lines, however when others steal in that place and got caught npc's speaks up most of the time.

For the record, I'd like to point out that there are some disguises (not costumes; disguises) which override the vampire's distinctive marble skin.

Same as Vildebill said, my khajiits in medium armor equip these 2 amazing sets when they go to steal  Detection radius is definitely not 0, maybe ~2 meters in front of NPC... I was caught few times using those sets :D I also saw other people who use these sets few times.

Tried but no response, my former encounter with a khajiit vampire responded though which makes sense since that player was using nightmother+vampire+khajiit+ledgerdemain passives. This however is a Redguard with no vampire passives.

Yes i know but this player is not on costume/disguise because i'm familiar with motif style pieces that the player was wearing, Redguard, Nord, & Ancient Elf, a mix of Light & Medium pieces. Also you can't dye costumes using 6 different color template because costumes are 1pc. 3 color templates gear, additionally helmet is off and the player retains human complexity with normal eye colors and does not seem to have Night Stalker passive even if the player was a vampire.

I'll check this one later after eating my meal, will update my post.

    Edit:
Well there's still big space between as you pass by, the player i've encountered stole face to face with slightly on the npc's side.
