He only played his sorc in first person, and still GOd it faster than anyone lol. And again, you’re the worst at making a point, what does any of that have to do with my skill level. I don’t have to prove my solo capability, it’s on my YouTube’s page, oh and I’ve already GOd a Stam DK in medium armor start to finish, gg 🙃 and actually we all had to pay see_you_tonight 25k for 1 shotting you in the sewers lol. I won’t claim elite but that’s a slug I know would beat you 100/100 times

See_You_Tonight and I are friends (I have vids of my own of us small-scaling with Sm0kin and some others) and has never fought me, lol. The dude has no reason to.

So the problem with the notion of trying to bend ESO into becoming anything remotely competitive in nature simply does not work.

This is due to build set ups, basically, carrying the user, building requires no skill just time. There isn't really any 'skill' per se when it comes to MMOs. Especially with PvP combat. As long as you have the awareness, experience -- but more importantly the build you're good.

95% of it is just knowledge of how the game works is what gives better players an edge over bads.

Actual skill only exists in games where character types (or pseudo 'builds') are already pre-made and have a level of depth / barrier of entry is too high for the casual player.

Games like; Street Fighter, Tekken, Marvel Versus Capcom, King of Fighters and so on fit this. Where learning to play a 6 button or 4 button fighter with a stick, on top of game mechanics and 1 v 1 mechanics scares causal players away.

Games like; Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Dragon Ball Fighters Z are much easier to play and while are niche, are much more casual friendly. Easier buttons to learn, easier mechanics to understand.

Case in point, trying to force or pretend ESO into something that it is not, will not end well. Better off searching for a game that actually caters to those elements. Whether its something like Dragon Ball Fighter Z or Guilty Gear, both games cater much more to 1v1 concepts and allow skill to be built up on. To push that idea more, even Smash has team battle 2v2 so there is small scale elements of play present.

really well said captain on competitive balance and video games...

thanks for sharing the vids allstar - i started going through them...i now have something to keep me a bit distracted at work today :)

which, to be honest - is kind of the point of this thread...i feel extremely fortunate to have folks like tequila, the captain (takes no prisoner), kyle, dotme, hurtfan and lots of other good folks whom have been sharing stories, thoughts and ideas about eso (and, in particular pvp) for years...

i really miss a bunch of the folks whom have come and moved on to other interests and gaming worlds...we've been real fortunate though to have other folks come and join us over time...

I appreciate just how sharp some of the people who play eso are...not only that - it's taken me a while in life - but, i realize that where i fit in mostly, is with other gamers...

it's not easy for all to put down their "weapons" once they log out of cyrodiil and check in on the forums...especially considering that there's a very good chance at some point we've all been out there trying to kill one another...and, although eso may not be the epitome of balance and competitive play - there is some winning and losing going on; and, folks can get touchy about that kind of stuff...

which is not to say that a little fussing and fighting here on the forums, and, in this thread is necessarily a bad thing..different people communicate in different ways...no doubt for a lot of players whom check in on the thread from time to time they enjoy a little "vigorous discourse" :)

heck, we're normally such a mellow bunch, the mods rarely visit the thread...

for myself - this is a place where i feel comfortable... a place i can spend time with other gamers...i don't care if you're the best or worse at eso and pvp...other folks skills and builds don't really matter to me - what does though is the person themselves...which includes all types: feisty/mellow, noob/pro...

doesn't matter too much to me..we all have a story to share...

i am right there with you @Hurtfan ...i write emails, talk to folks, and process paperwork alllllllllllllllllllllllllll day long...occasionally i'll get a chance to get away from my desk for a moment to go out into the warehouse (a very welcome respite) and stare outside the bay doors - it's beautiful out here in so cal right now...

still going through @allstarplayergk vids, love those bombs and watching everyone around him drop...i used to never watch game vids, until folks started adding them to the thread...

i think @wazzz56 was the first to add vids to our thread...those vids definitely inspired me to create a healer character...watching him and his crazy healing argonian was definitely enlightening...at the time i had no idea you could have that much fun with a healer...talk about being able to stand in the fire and heal yourself and allies through just about anything...

i really like @Jake1576 vids that he added - they were a bit quirky and weird - which means i could totally relate and enjoy them...they look a whole lot like the game clips i save :)

i'm also a big fan of @Abysswarrior45 vids that he posted...great action, great music, and, super smooth editing...man, i wish i could make a vid like his...those are some pretty cool skillz...one of the new characters i created over in EU land is a 2 handed stam dk - swing away, swing away...

it's funny - i'm a bit of an old guy stuck mainly in 70's and 90's rock...the thing i just might appreciate the most is the music allstar and abyss added to their vids...

it's cool to hear "new" (new to me at least) music that i really like...actually listening to a little van morrison right now B)

@geonsocal I agree, I love hearing the different music choices people go with for their videos. I too am a (not so) old guy(30s) with a pencient for classic rock. My Stam DK pvp videos I set to some Dead tunes, that’s these scene I grew up in. I now produce a major touring reggae band, so my alter ego eats up some punk/reggae/ska. It’s hard to find music I like to set to Bombing 😅 so I reach for a classic when I’m stumped

I have no idea what that really means :p

hey, so here's a quick update on the campaign score for both vivec EU and vivec NA...

started noticing last week that AD was making a push, but, since the witches festival stuff has started I've been out of cyro on both severs...

using the xp buff to level my EU land toons...

with 7 days left in the campaign AD has taken a narrow lead on both vivec EU and vivec NA...

I'm not sure, but, it looks like EP will respond on both maps...

could be an interesting last week of the campaign for both of those alliances...

it took me half a night one time to figure how to make videos. To edit them or trim me down suitable to upload, you have to quit playing and start editing. There’s not enough time for that stuff. I want to play.

Besides, my videos would be 15 minutes riding my slow mount to an objective. Dying to NPC. Start back over in Highrock.

well, the patch notes for murkmire are out:
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/441713/pc-mac-patch-notes-v4-2-5#latest

i was gonna make some notes, but, there's a whole bunch going on...lot's of changes with: speed, evasion (RIP :'( ), and shields...

i know it's stupid - but, i am soooooooo looking forward to watching the alessia bridge come tumbling down...hopefully whenever the murkmire update hits my time zone i can have a character parked by the alessia bridge to watch it fall :)

oh, here's one thing that stuck out in all the patch notes:

Added new fishing locations near Bravil and Niben Bay, and the fishing locations on the north side of Bravil have been moved.

    yay...i don't even fish...

back in DC's glory days it seemed like they had a really solid "oceanic" player base...

the affect of one or two coordinated guilds whom operate during non peak US hours is significant...

I'm guessing the EP folks on the EU server are experiencing something similiar...

and, I can't imagine having scrolls count as highly as they do is helping the situation...

when you're the only "group" out on the map, not hard to capture the other 4 scrolls and start making crazy points for a while...

too funny, I understand completely though...

it's one of the reasons I stopped joining pvp guilds and even grouping up in cyrodiil...

I just wanted to have fun and play all my characters...

it's hard on an altoholic unless you have them all stacked in one alliance (which I do not)...

it feels good to play only blue now...i feel like I'm all in...

I know though in another month or so I'm going to really want to play one of my EP or AD characters in something other than battlegrounds...

and, to be honest - it's fun getting a chance to get the perspective of fighting for each faction...

I don't know jake...i don't know what the right answer is...

unless you've actually fought for different sides, I imagine it would be tough for someone to understand...

He was on EP last night, and got a very frosty reception. I don't understand that mentality. Reminds me of the age-old saying "Don't cut off your nose to spite your face"

I know I'm probably in the minority, but I was pleased last year when "Mr Gooch" moved over to EP, and I feel the same way about Smokin. I hope he comes over next campaign.

If you're wearing red and you're fighting for red, then all I have to say is "Welcome Aboard"

The last thing EP needs to do is to drive away players. The funny thing is, that's exactly what many players do in zone chat, then the next day they're the same folks moaning about how AD fills 3 bars overnight and EP doesn't. Still, the fuss will die down in a while. When Gooch first moved, zone chat was lit for a week or two as well.

Can't have it both ways... you either welcome transfactional players, or deal with low pop and second/third place.

I'd feel the same way. Some people develop some loyalty to both faction and people we consider friends because we've been fighting alongside them for so long. I don't know what to suggest there other than to target players you don't know, or revert to a support/healing role until you get comfortable.

Yeah... I've been solo for over a week because of negativity, salt towards other EP players and talk of changing factions in a guild I'm in (I won't roll any more characters in ESO). It's the negativity that really got to me. After listening to it for a few days, I realized I'm not enjoying my PvP experience because of it. So I stepped back.

I don't care about AP very much. I've ranked up to max, and have AP up the wazoo, so these days I just want to help my team win the campaign, that's all. But my goals don't seem to mesh with the GM's (Not sure what those goals are some days, to be honest). No hard feelings, but if I'm not moving in the same direction as the guild, it doesn't make much sense to run with them as much. I'm happier when I just help EP take keeps, move the map and increase campaign score.

I'm happier when I just help EP take keeps, move the map and increase campaign score.

Yeah, I have more fun just in our old guild's chat playing loosely not grouped with the few of them.
Guess I got spoiled by WOC.
