I'm excited for the new campaign :)

haven't had a chance yet to werewolf out and check out the new changes...

finally finished farming netches touch in darkshade caverns...took me 14 runs to get what I needed - or course I have enough automaton and truth gear to outfit just about every character i have...

gonna go through cyrpt of hearts to get a light ilambris monster piece...

once that is done - I'll have my very own lightning character finally...I'll start out with ilambris, netches touch and thunderbug, do some fighting and see what adjustments I need to make...

next up I need to go farm a bone pirate bow and 2 handed weapon...I'm guessing that'll take about 8 runs or so (I actually got 3 netches touch bows from farming in darkshade :#)...we'll see...I'll bring plenty of gold (20k per piece) to see if I can buy them...

I love trying out new gear and builds in cyro :p

on top of switching characters all the time, changing character builds definitely helps keep me interested in the game...

Your lightning sets don't actually synergize. Besides having Lightning damage.

    hmmmmm, gosh darn it....you're right...

    Netch's Touch Set
(2 items) Adds 833 Spell Critical
(3 items) Adds 1096 Max Magicka
(4 items) Adds 124 Spell Damage
(5 items) Adds 400 Spell Damage to your Shock Damage abilities.

okay, i'm keeping the stupid netch's touch cuz i just spent a week getting it, and, the last six months thinking about it...

    was planning on going with:
SnB: encase, hardened ward, lightening flood, bound aegis (or boundless storm), crystal frags and overload

overload: power surge, hardened ward, lightening flood, bound aegis (or boundless storm), mage's wrath

destro: power surge, hardened ward, haunting curse, bound aegis (or boundless storm), mage's wrath and eye of the storm

any thoughts on what monster piece or complimentary "electric" type set to mix in with that?

sad to say - efficiency is not necessarily my primary focus - synergizing some cool animations is pretty high up though on my list :)

Edit: oh man, didn't think this too well through - just noticed my eye of the storm is actually magic damage not shock damage :'(

ugh, it gets worse - all my destruction staff abilities do magic damage, not shock damage...i think i'm gonna cry...i'd be much better off staying in julianos and spinners :/

Yep eye of the storm is magic damage, which a lot of people don't realize I think...but mages wrath, liquid lightning, overload are all good abilities I use when I sport netch's touch. Not sure what monster set would compliment that but I wear molag kena (with nech's) because you can light attack overload and your 2nd light attack will activate the monster set and you'll get an extra 615 spell damage added to your overload, 129 from Molag Kena and another 516 on top of that when you activate Molag Kena. You add the extra 400 spell damage I think it is from netchs (all my gear is golded out), now you're talking some sick spell damage.

But I just came up with this myself, definitely not meta, so someone else will probably correct me on what monster set to wear.

Edit: if I'm seeing my damage numbers correctly, force pulse, the shock part of that attack, is also modified by netch's.

You're welcome, but I'm not great at builds so take my advice at your own risk lol. Lich is probably a good choice because Molag Kena, you get the 20% increase in cost when you cast a magicka ability when it's activated. I usually run julianos with it. I chug a lot of potions to keep my magicka up but lichs might help with that.

One other thing I just thought of that I do with this build, cast magelight before your overload light attack. I'm at work so not 100% positive but when they nerfed magelight, they changed it to when you cast it, your next light attack gets a buff. So you can buff your overload light attack before you cast it. I've hit people with 16K damage before, I think my tooltip says 20k. But I was just recently hit with an overload light attack that basically one-shotted me for 24k. Not sure how this person did that, only thing I can think of is the new monster set where you can boost your ultimate's spell damage by double the number of points your ultimate is at. So if you're ulti is at 500, when you cast your ulti, you will get an extra 1000 spell damage? But not sure if that's how it works.

You can stack Netch with pretty much anything on the defensive set side. Probably Netch/Lich if you're running Destro/Resto.

The real trick is getting lightning damage abilities - because you're doing shock spell damage there isn't a reason to run Frags/Curse/Rune Cage etc. because all of this damage is magic damage. (You still run Curse, it just won't hit as hard, but you need the timed guaranteed burst as a Sorc)

So, you need to play different. To me, Netch is for Heavy Attack or Pet Build. I say this because you really want to be running Destructive Clench for the 2 second stun and synergy with the DOT being a lightning DOT. You probably want to run Infused or Nirn / Infused (no need to make it a shock enchant, Netch won't effect it). To me, for a heavy attack build with Netch, your burst combo looks like the following:

Blockade - Clench - Heavy Attack. You want 81 CP in Thaum for the DOT damage increase and to get Off Balance 10% dmg (blockade will proc the off balance) and the DOT damage increase helps with your heavy attack channel damage.

Front Bar - Streak - Blockade - Clench - Hardened Ward - Radiant Mage Light - Atronach
Back Bar - Mines - Snare - Harness Mag - Healing Ward - Fury - Overload
Overload Bar - Surge - Boundless Storm - Hardened Ward - Radiant Mage Light - Overload

I've thought about the build a lot and I really want to pair it with Elegance - to that end you're basically playing a heavy attack turtle build. You have to abuse the ever living *** out of choke points and your AOE's (Mines & Boundless & Atro).

You should never start a heavy attack rotation until you've got mines down incase they pressure the moment you start your heavy attack.

You take Radiant because it > Inner Light for the Utility of 12m range vs. 6m range vs. Nightblades. 12m Range on Light + Heavy attack Shock staff build (with CP properly allocated) will *** any dodge roller. They simply rely to heavily on cloak for survivability and they can't put to much pressure if you'r constantly rooting, shielding, laying mines, and keeping your regen up with heavy attacks.

If you need an extra bump to proc Fury that's why you heave streak on the front bar, can hit for like 3-4k if it crits. Also, because this is a DOT build, you want to build high Crit. Like seriously try to pump it up to 60+% on the lightning staff bar. I would recommend Thief Stone & Precise Weapons or Shadow Stone + Precise Weapons.

I don't see the need for Nirnhoned or Apprentice, you're already adding a ton of spell damage with Netch. You can back bar an Infused Resto w/ Spell Damage Glyph, but I'd actually recommend a magicka regen enchant so you can put static spell damage on your jewelry. This is a really high spell damage build, survivability is baked into your offense - you have to be able to create space and lay down defensive mines so you can get heavy attacks off or you will die.

wow, @MalagenR ...that was freaking excellent...read though it once here at work...need to read though it again when I get home and things are a little quieter...

took my magsorc into cyro last night - was wearing 2pc infernal guardian, 5pc netch's touch, 5pc thunderbug...

I love the animation on the thunderbug, less than thrilled with the netch's touch - but, I'll re-read what you wrote and try to apply...

first time I've had my magsorc in anything other than 7 light...

    I did :)

are you a fan of IC?

I know I shouldn't have to be so heavily incentivized to have to participate in certain content - but, I kind of do...

just recently spent a bunch of tel var trying to get lucky on those 1.5k superior boxes - I've been through about 60 boxes but have only been able to collect 1 of the 3 xivkyn polymorphs...

so, looking forward to farming stones...took me a long time to get my AP/hour rate to a reasonable level (15 to 25k normally)...

my tel var earning potential has remained pretty poor since I first started - without pvping and going solo (start off with 100 tel var, go to sewers and kill mobs, defeat portals, loot chests, district questing) I can only earn about 1.5k an hour...

the event will get me up to 3k per hour - but, still a painfully low earning rate...

hmmmmm, any tel var earning suggestions for solo farming?

As to solo farming look for the guys wearing imperial physic lol
Best hall I ever got was testing stealth gear setup during last years event, lots of players so figured this to be a good acid test saw a guy in stealth behind a desk looking to be in gank mode so kept getting closer till I saw movement.
Biggest hall I ever got 10k tel var he is still probably a little angry at me

oh yeah - almost forgot mention - heard there are some changes coming to bridges and mile gates...came across this great summary:
You can drop the 3 big bridges over the Niben. They don't actually say if mile gates become impassable when destroyed but, judging from that big black cross on one of the icons on the map, I'd guess they do.

In the high population campaigns I can see the gates, bridges and goat tracks sometimes becoming the focus of long stalemated confrontations, but they're not going to give offensive/defensive AP ticks. No siege limits there tho, so everyone can join in the never-ending artillery exchange.

I also foresee lots of time spent riding around trying to find a way to advance that isn't blocked.

To some extent I think it's going to keep the alliances apart from each other. It could actually mean less time spent in close-quarter fighting, more time riding around and firing siege.

No doubt it's going to change things, but at first sight it doesn't look to me like it's going to make AvAvA more fun or more rewarding.

The only bit that does look like fun is that Lunar Fang goat bridge. It's steep, narrow and with no hand rails, and there's slaughterfish in them thar waters.

I think the new outposts will mostly be ignored because they are totally isolated. Unless capturing them figures in a high reward quest.

The three flag towns are now linked to the transport network. This makes them even more of a PvP objective than before, which in turn means their daily quests become even more difficult during peaktime play hours. Some Chorrol quests go through one of the mile gates, and might become impossible to complete if the gate is blocked or under attack.

just watched the twitch feed (cyro talk starts at about 21:26 of the broadcast)...

I'm happy for the changes and effort on the part of @ZOS_BrianWheeler and team...

hopefully brian will post another cyrodiil update thread in the alliance section :)

I whine and *** as much as just about anyone else...I spend a lot of time though in cyrodiil for a reason - it's enjoyable to me...

real happy to see the coming changes...hopefully there's a plan for increasing pvp participation amongst the primarily pve oriented player base...

do that and improve performance to the point where player pop caps can be increased in the first time since forever...

I may not have anything else to whine and *** about...not likely though, I'm from new york originally, I don't think I could ever really stop complaining :#

I have a question that’s been bothering me for the last few days. Where has Dc gotten most of its extra bodies from? The last two campaigns Dc would usually be the faction that lost its 3rd bar 1rst. Since you play all three factions @geonsocal maybe you can answer that?

howdy loki... good to see you here :)

I'm not really sure...it's super hard for me to get an accurate pulse on what's going on behind the scenes...

I'm just not that socially well connected...most of what I know comes from the good folks here spilling the beans...

and, from following zone chat - not exactly the best repository of knowledge :#

I'm generally on late night US time (around 2pm to 3am e.s.t.)...usually when I'm on - at least the last month or so, DC owns the map from chalman to roebeck...

the only difference being whether they own their own scrolls or not...

Edit: once upon a time the "main" 30 day co map was very blue, all the time...

my EP and AD characters had some serious grudges against the covenant...now, not so much...

not exactly sure what's going on with the pact right now...

I will say - I'm not overly eager to see the queen in charge again...

seriously though, for myself, I like porting around and finding different places to fight...I know though - it's an mmo...a fairly popular mmo with a relatively active pvp base -

full disclaimer: I have absolutely no idea exactly how many people different accounts participate in vivec each month...

if I was to guess though - I'd guess somewhere close to 10k...

anyway, point being - there are a lot of people out there hoping to be in a group when they pvp...

having the patience to lead a rowdy band of gamers and provide direction and help is pretty cool...

Lol Ty it’s hard in several ways i usually have my groups consist of 70 percent guildees and 30 percent Pick ups that way the pick ups follow crown which is always is an up hill battle I’m actually very supportive of Ep small scale and Solo players despite being a Zerg daddy lol because I did do that for about 8 months is a few of the smaller campaigns such as Skull which I miss a lot it was where I did my 1rst 2vX with a really bad Nightblade build. Im guessing that at least for Ep we have a good 3000 to 3500 players who are regulars so maybe it’s roughly the same for Dc with Ad having a bit more players because of how big and Organized a lot of Ad trade guilds are. What do you think @Takes-No-Prisoner? You probably know Ad better than I do

All I know is that bombweed is playing. So is a couple of other good crowns including sanj420. I dont think trade guilds play a role in AD cyro. Its mainly good crowns who come in and can effectively hold their side of the map.

Tbf, I have been spending more time in BGs. Get faster AP that way.

Fair enough I just say the trade guilds have an impact on Ads pop because I have fought GoodFella and Bad guys People a lot they always run the tabard for those guilds. But I’m glad your Enjoying Bgs I think I have fought you in them? Also did see you Healing in Sej on Saturday or Sunday that was actually a fun fight!

I decided to cheese out a little on my magsorc...wearing Valkyn Skoria for monster set plus calurrion's legacy (and julianos). Force pulse procs calurrion reliably and liquid lightning and elemental rage procs Valkyn Skoria. It's a little more fun to bomb now.

    Caluurion’s Legacy Set
(2 items) Adds 833 Spell Critical
(3 items) Adds 129 Spell Damage
(4 items) Adds 833 Spell Critical
(5 items) When you deal Critical Damage with a single target Magicka ability, you launch a Fire, Ice, Shock, or Disease ball at your target that deals 12,900 damage and applies a status effect. This effect can occur once every 10 seconds.

caluurion's legacy is a very sexy set (damn near impossible to spell right though :) )...i just need to put on my big boy pants and spend some time farming it...

I've only seen it show up on my death recap a few times...

once, when it first came out two magblades sandwiched me with concealed weapon and caluurion's...

not sure what character I was on, but, I died pretty quick...

I've gone away from high crit percentage builds, but, the set seems to pair perfectly with shadowy disguise...

Looks like I spelleded it incorrectly lol...

It took me a little while to farm it, I'm pretty sick of Fang Lair but don't let that stop you. I could go back and try and farm one more legacy fire staff but don't know if I ever want to go back there again. If I have to mix and match with other sets I would have to use a legacy fire staff and a legacy lightning staff.

The set was worth farming to me, it's just fun to use. When it procs, a little symbol appears over each shoulder and each symbol looks different, based on what element it's proc-ing. Then it shoots off a big ball of *insert element here* of ice, disease or whatever. The big ball is pretty slow so it's funny to watch it chase its target.

went in to IC last night on my magblade...

it was pretty late - I only saw one other player the whole time...was in the memorial district up on the platform and noticed the flag changing (from one enemy to another)...

went to go attack and as soon as I attacked the stupid flag flipped and I had all the npc guards to deal with along with the other player...didn't end well for me :'(

did take a couple of other district flags, but, ended up doing some farming in the sewers...

getting ready for IC party time later tomorrow :)
