ONE Tamriel.

I had a dream of playing one character in Tamriel.

But that dream quickly turned into a nightmare. For I realized I can't play one character in Tamriel. Classes are left buried and broken for years. CP is divided between PvP and PvE or mediocre in between. Stamina and Magicka development is left unattended so you will never compete in both. So you can't play 1 class, you will either be in the wrong class, the wrong resource or the wrong CP allocation.

I like to have 1 character that is my avatar. That is my character, that is who I am known by and who I choose to interface into Tamriel. But I can't have that in your game, and not for any good reason. We all have to have a stable of characters, 1 for every class, and stamina or magicka between that, and then finally race between that, and PvE or PvP.... "You need a tank? Let me log my tank", "need a dps, let me log my dps", "Time to PvP let me log my class and build that is competitive for PvP". We don't have avatars in this game we have @names that house our stable of soulless shells that we use for this task or that task and then log. Which are we supposed to actually play though?

This isn't a design of the game, or I should hope not. This is because of the lack of design in the game. No one is doing any upkeep. Classes are left in free fall for years becoming more and more irrelevant update after update. Broken class skills, that are core to game play, like DK chains, DK reflect, toppling charge, are left broken for years. Stamina and Magicka is already vastly imbalanced and you haven't even finished buffing Stamina yet. The Champion Tree is such a mess that you can't optimize for PvP separately from PvE. In most games it's the character that is the most important, he/she is the hero. In your game it's the world, and characters are incomplete shells designed for specific and focused tasks and discarded for the next task.

So I have a dream of ONE Tamriel. Where you keep up with your classes on a regular basis, where you keep stamina and magicka competitive on a regular basis, where I can play one character and perform reasonably well in most areas. I have a dream where you step up to the plate and do what needs to be done to repair and maintain your game. I am tired of seeing people who formerly loved their class re roll to stamina or reroll classes because you have abandoned them. That is the right word, abandoned, you have not protected their class, or their choice in resource, you have abandoned them to the loving care of the class reroll system. For that you should feel ashamed, you should take no pride in that. Whoever you are it is your job to protect and maintain the classes, and you have not done that. You have let the entire community down in that regard and they have lost and abandoned the classes they loved because in your abandonment you gave them no hope to continue.

According to the story, our characters really are soulless shells. It actually sounds like RP is your true calling. Maybe you should join a RP guild and be your character all the time.

i dont want a game where there is one character that solves eveything best and so we dont have any other characters for any reason.

It would be so boring if all of tamriel was the same character with the same build.

I like it that my character may not be good at all things, may not be able to do all things without change, adaptation etc.

I only have one character. You need a tank? To bad, i'm not one. In most mmo's I always ONLY have my main. I did make some bank toons, but they are obsolete now.

Edit: Only in SWTOR I had multiple toons because every class had it's own class story and they where all awesome. I did have 2 imperial agents because that story was to cool to play only once.

Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

I don't want that either. I never said you should be forced into one character or that everything is equal, just reasonable performance. We are not getting our distinction from design right now, we are getting it from neglect. PvP or PvE shouldn't be a class decision for performance and staying competitive. Dps shouldn't be a magicka or stamina build decision for performance and staying competitive.

Classes should derive distinction from valuable differences, not those derived from neglect, under and over performing abilites and broken half functioning core class abilities.

It will be cool to be able to see and play with all factions, but I am still bracing myself the best that I can, for the lag and crashing that will most likely occur, potentially more often when One Tamriel hits.. with many more players on and so many activities going on, especially with the dueling concept. It still has been lagging and crashing so much lately, and One Tamriel hasn't hit yet.

Yes, after all the tweaks, classes remains the weakest spot in ESO. So I have my hopes, they will focus on them soon. I still have some hopes for that idea of the free subclasses, or atleast 1 new class similar to the warden with nature magic, that was planned, but never came alive.
Also the classes would be more fun, if you wouldn't have only 1 skill for 1 slot - why not 10 skills to choose from 1 subclass? It would give me atleast a bit of free will to choose feelings. I know you can say, I have 3 subclasses to choose from, but why not offer more of variability?
And players said, that it would bring even less balance, but I believe, that limited choise is what brings unbalance - when you try to stock all the perfect choices into 1 skill. What if the perfect balance is in variability to choose from? If I can show you extreme, so you would understand: A bash with threat, bash without threat, a bash with 180 turn around, a bash with big slam only, a bash with stamina, that offers high martial value, or a bash with magicka cost, that offer additional magical effects...
But to have only the limited availability of skills, that tries to be perfect, but never can? IMO it will never work really...
Then, if there would be a lot of to choose from, you could have a perfect tank or a perfect shield basher offence warrior...

I don't know. I have a main I spend the vast majority of time on, who since launch has been a Templar. I quest solo, run dungeons and trials as both a healer and dps, and pvp on the same toon, often with little more than a change in gear, sometimes a mundus stone.

I have a bunch of alts, but that started mostly for questing and making different choices, and later to try out different classses, races, and builds, (and also to deligate crafting duties to). But these are like a car collection, were you take one out for a weekend drive for a little variety. Unless someone actually needs a tank, (not all that common a request but I finally have a tank character), or I want to level Alliance/Undaunted or claim another weekly reward, I'm on my main.

From a PVP POV, balance is worse than it has been since 1.5. Not since 1.5 has it been as important to run a FOTM build and playstyle. Those who don't are seriously gimped against the super-tanky, high damage, high sustain builds.

The pendulums have fully swung from Magicka to Stamina, from light to medium to heavy armor, from DK to Templar.

It gets worse in 2.6/Update 12.
