NB insta stealth macro?

So 3 separate times tonight I opened up from stealth on a particular NB who was engaged in fighting other players. I usually open up with a fully charged heavy attack from my fire staff. 51% bonus damage is nice.

Anyway, 3/3 times this unsuspecting player was able to cloak before the fire ball landed. I usually open up from about 20 feet away so I can choose the follow up wisely.

I mean I know there are some super twitchy players out there, but usually if I catch you in the middle of spamming snipe you wouldnt be able to cloak instantly before anything lands at all.

So what gives here? Should I L2P? Is this guy just that darn good? Is there a chance hes cheating with some kind of macro or something.

Either way wow... Just wow... Very frustrating...

A fire staff isn't exactly the most silent weapon you know. Sound prioritisation in ESO means that any effects that you initiate or are targeted at you takes priority. The fully charged heavy attack from an inferno staff takes round 2 seconds to land from that distance, which is more then sufficient time for an alert player to react. In addition, the sound you make while you are charging your staff is audible even in sneak.

Either that, or something else spooked him into cloaking. And it's rather easy to spook an archer into activating defensive measures.

While i recognize that what you say is true i doubt an archer with a full zerg in front of him plowing into the enemy has much fear especially for a preemtive cloak. once maybe.. twice perhaps, but 3 times??

    hmmmmmmmmm

Also Ive been harshly ganking people lately with my new set up. Probably 1000 or slightly more succesful ganks and this is the first guy who has been able to preemptively cloak. Lots and lots of badly timed dodge rolls, but never a cloak to avoid all dmg...

    again hmmmmmm

Personally, even when I'm near allies, I don't trust them any more then I trust my enemies. I basically only trust my own group members or my guild members.

Over time, the more you fight in Cyrodiil, the more you develop a sixth sense warning you of incoming attacks. It's partly why it's nearly impossible to connect an ability like Snipe or a fully charged staff attack onto any experienced player who is listening to the combat music. There are drum beats when you get personally targeted, and this battle music gets faster and faster the more enemies locked on to you. With how much latency affects battles in Cyrodiil along with lag compensation on the part of the server, this makes landing projectile attacks a pain against any alert enemy.

It's not really hard to notice incoming projectiles like snipe and staff heavy attacks tbh. As Dean said, listening to the audio will help you avoid these things most of the time.

Is this type of thing possible?

While I'm willing to accept that this guy has his speakers blasting and can differentiate between the fighting of his allies and my fire staff charging up. It still leaves me wondering if this type of thing is possible.

    Pretty impressive either way.

You assume he's cloaking to avoid your attack, my money is on him clocking after a shot to give himself the 100% crit chance on his next shot (and coincidentally avoiding your HA),

But you being the best solo NB there is would have been able to figure that out so obviously not the case.........

This happens since launch of the game. I used to sneak attack people on horses using snipe from max distance. As soon as I had my bow drawn, people flapped wing, casted bubble, cloaked or whatever. Took me ages to find out and I did find one UI mod which warned for incoming projectiles. Even before the arrow was released (tested it by cancelling my snipe) they flapped wings.

I tested it on my 2nd account, and found out the combat music also starts as soon as I targeted by wife's character and pressed an attack skill that I could execute.

So yeah, turn on those blasters and listen to the music..

While I am sure cheating an unethical tactics are rampant in pvp this guy probably just cloaked the moment his addons said he was in combat.

An instant cloak macro? So he set up a macro so he could push one button that would push one button faster... Seems like an odd thing to do...

I am quite jaded in this regard by now. The difference between the normal players (not talking scrubs, I mean those that regularly pvp and do decently) and these "top players" is so large that I by now assume that every one of them either cheats or exploits.

I do not give many excrements on explanations like "sixth sense" or "listen to the sounds". Each to his own, is what I say. I look for fights that are fun and leave those be that I sort into the above category.

Maybe a macro isn't the right word.

You know that sorc ability that instantly stuns you when you hit them with a spell?

That except a cheat program that insta stealths you whenever someone is about to hit you.

    Holy!! This sounds crazy!

    Patch Notes yet?

Maybe he is hearing your attack and has fast reactions.

Maybe he has a sequence where he attacks and enters stealth and it is just that your timing for your attack is when he is entering stealth.

Macros for combat are not allowed. It is in the ToS. But OP is making a huge assumption just because he is having trouble killing NBs or at least one particular NB.

    Yeah just one guy.

The most plausible answer is that he has a rotation that requires him to go into stealth that he cycles through over and over.

For whatever reason my conditioning for a vulnerable enemy and attack timing line up perfectly with his stealth portion of the rotation.

I mean the second the fireball leaves my staff he stealths. 3 times in one night. Same guy..

    Definitely made me go WTH??

Just use a detection potion before you charge up your staff. With that then there shouldn't be any worries of him cloaking your attack.

it sucks that you actually found a problem, and people put you down. I wonder if we would get the PvP changes we want if we worked together...
