And people said the same when level and gear cap were increased from V10 to V12, later to V14, and then to V16. There were even a few people on the forums demanding refund of their gold mats, etc.
It's not particularly fun to obtain new gear when it happens, but I'm guessing both gear cap and level cap (spendable champion points) will continue to increase at roughly the same pace since launch (so far it has been a couple levels, or 20-30 CP every 9 months or so).
Increasing the gear cap is the way that new sets, dungeons, etc., get added to the game. I'd be extremely surprised if it ever stopped progressing. Fortunately, now the progression is account wide, so no need to grind your alts anymore.
The key difference is that the game has become much grindier since those days.
Crafting a VR14 piece costs a mere 4 extra mats compared to a VR10 piece, instead of an order of magnitude more like VR15->VR16.
Much of the old content dropped gear in fixed traits. Now they drop in a wide range of random traits.
And the vMA RNG grind. Look at all the threads QQing about farming vMA weapons and the people who have stopped playing out of anger over that. Imagine, then, forcing everyone to do that again. Hell no.
How is it evolving ? The devs will just give the same monsters more HP and damage, and you'll have to grind just to get back to the same relative place.MyKillv2.0 wrote: »I voted yes, I think MMOs only become better if you continue to progress. Can we not come up with something new for stamina DPS users? How long was TBS meta for magic users before the change to BSW?
I have no problem with level cap increase but it needs to be included with better equipment. It shouldn't be a level increase to force people to recraft or regrind their same gear. Part of a new expansion (chapter whatever) should be new gear.
I am sorry if that means your previous gear is no longer BiS. The game should evolve with both players and creators.
I said yes. IF they buff crafted sets to be BIS again.
Sick of Grinding Mats and feeling like I wasted Gold Mats on my previous Gear.
I don't want to have spent hours farming large amount of Rubedite, Rebedo Leather and Ancestor Silk for nothing either.

Yes, Vvardenfell will probably include whole new tier of mats, which would seem pointless without also increasing the gear cap.

I also want to know those who want to increase the gear level what is their point of view.
This is just a tag for the ZOS team in case they were thinking about it to see what the community thinks.
