Camera (mouse) sometimes locks while running/sprinting: 2-year anniversary of a problem
A number of people have reported this problem over the past two years. To summarize: sometimes while running or sprinting, the camera will lock. This means: moving the mouse left or right has no effect. Our character keeps running straight ahead and we're unable to make a turn using the mouse unless we stop moving completely. Tons of fun, as you can imagine.
Some people suggested the problem may be due to:
- a specific piece of software on the computer: ok, but not everyone who experiences the problem runs that particular program on their computer, so that's not it
- the mouse used: people have named all sorts of brands and models of mice, so that's not it
- the keyboard used: people have reported replacing their keyboard and still experience the problem. Besides, sometimes I only use the mouse to move and the problem has occurred then, too, so it's not the keyboard either.
- certain (combination of) addons: I only run very popular and common addons, so this can't be it or a lot more people would experience this problem.
Combined with the fact that everyone who talks about this problem only experiences it in ESO and not in any other games, means it clearly is a bug in ESO. The question is: which of the many hardware and software combinations causes this bug? I know it's not easy to investigate but this problem really makes the game annoying to play and for some people even unplayable, so I for one hope ZOS hasn't given up on trying to solve this.
