Mouse not working while moving, anybody else have this issue?

Lag has been constant annoying part for long now and i do not believe this is part of it or if it is, it is something new..

So, while character is standing still, mouse works perfectly fine everywhere, when i start running, mouse stops working alltogether or is secods behind everything else.

Combat for example, does not seem to lag at all but mouse moves everything couple seconds behind or does not move camera at all so character steering is impossible or hard..

This is always corrected by relaunching the whole game. Relog does not help, /reloadui does not help nor does changing characters. Only quitting and starting again fixes this.

Anyvody else having similar problem?

I wish I could say I knew how to help, but the most I can suggest is to check your addons (if you use any) and contact Customer Support. They'll more than likely tell you to try restarting your computer and repairing your game client, so I'd go ahead and try both of those as well.

This is more than likely lag related. It almost sounds like you got disconnected from the server (you see the game still because your in the client, but the server does not know where you are so you can interact with anything)

Reboot the PC first, the restart the game and see what happens.

Sometimes just logging out and back in again can sort this.

I have opened up the game ports with Port Triggering on my Firewall and that seems to help with this very same issue in that I have not noticed it since I made the change. I have not played that much this week, so I am not ready to call it successful yet.

I only have this problem when using my laptop which is not a gaming machine - it uses an intel i3 on windows 7 with minimal graphics. Yes while walking or moving the mouse does not turn the character. Have to stop, turn then move again. Its a hardware issue or the lack of sufficient ram. My gaming rig at home has no problems.

List the stats of your computer and maybe someone can suggest changes for you if needed. Maybe your short on ram or your graphics processor is old.

Sounds much like my problem exept im running the game on performance gaming PC and this issue just came up in last week or so and nothing has changed in my hardware or software.

I did but it turns out it really was my mouse. Sometimes I'm trying to move around too much and wind up hitting the enter button which of course puts the chat up and makes the mouse unusable but don't sound the same cause you'd see the pointer. Add-ons do funky things. Here's hoping for the best for you.

My input was lagging really bad, especially my mouse when sprinting and trying to steer/turn. For me it turned out to be a program on my PC called DisplayFusion. It's a shame because I really like that program. This is the only game I've played that had an issue with the app. I didn't uninstall it but I exit the app if I'm playing ESO.

    Windows PC?

Windows button, lower left > type in "command" > right click Command Prompt, run as admin > make the window big, i.e. top to bottom

Type in the following: ping -t www.google.com

You can also ping your ISP or whatever. The time= should be fairly consistent without spikes in the 1000's. A few dropped packets is ok over a 10 minute span but none is best of course. Ctrl+C to end the test, run it for a couple of minutes or if you suspect a problem then run it for 15+ minutes.

A lot of dropped packets could mean a few things but usually it means your router is going out. Quick and easy test to eliminate your connection as a problem, which seems to be every CSR's first go to crutch in the history of mankind on Earth. :s

Tracerouted when all the general lag begun, the problem for that is in Germany.

This however, is not network lag, at least nothing that can be measured with tools given. It stays indefinitely if i just keep the game running, no matter if i /reload ui, relog from beginning or simply change zone or character. Nothing else than restarting the game helps, restarting windows is needles as problem fixes by restarting aplication

Filed a report of it too yesterday, was mainly curious of how many are having this issue or is it just me.

Thanks for "How to" for network testing :) Allready knew that though, 10 year career as network specialist gives some knownledge.

Lots of things get blamed on lag that aren't lag or related at all to lag.

The problem is largely related to the lack of multi-threading in the game engine; not particularly astonishing since few development houses emphasize multi-threading. Multi-threading causes some issues when expecting to go multi-platform with an application, but more importantly, it take more senior/experienced programmers/software engineers (read that to mean "more expensive salaries") to effectively use multi-threading and more extensive testing/QA (read that also to mean "more expensive salaries"), and that of course sucks up money necessary for those overpaid MBAs in the marketing department [sarcasm intended]; and the developers would much prefer to pay high salaries to marketers pushing a bad product than pay any salary to competent development staff [even more sarcasm intended] to actually produce a good product.

That applies to much more than just the gaming world...

Most of the gaming engines use discrete event simulation techniques rather than extensive multi-threading because of that. Event timing is tied to a real-time clock, an event prioritization scheme [it's critical to get this right], and time-outs for events rather than using multi-threading. It's much easier for intern/new hire/journeyman programmers/software engineers to understand and implement. The problems occur when the number and frequency of events (which include not just gameplay events, but also OS events -- such as mouse-events -- and updates of graphics in a full implementation) exceeds the reasonable capabilities of the architecture. That is, what happens when many events are essentially simultaneous? Although we may perceive things otherwise with our limited senses, a CPU still only does one thing at a time.

Without multi-threading, multi-core systems don't really provide any benefit to the player.

With single-threaded event coding, the prioritization and time-outs of events dictate what events don't get handled. Ultimately, as changes are made to the engine, there comes a time when the event queue gets overloaded. You may perceive it as lag. It's not.

Since mouse and keyboard events aren't being handled well by a lot of systems, ZOS should relook at the prioritization of those events in its engine.

Haven't had this issue but I have had a very similar one. After you close out a window your mouse is suppose to automatically go out of cursor mode. For this can take up to 10seconds to occur. Reloadui fixes it.

I know you said you've got some networking experience but it sounds like you're on a wireless connection or perhaps you're having some network issues.

If you are wireless, I suggest just in general that you look into higher quality networking equipment. I got a two-in-one modem/router for my house for $120 and man can it deliver a good wireless connection to anyone in the house, even other people playing ESO on their own computers playing wirelessly. Upgrading the equipment can do wonders.

Really, just from the description and the fact that it happens in such a specific way, it just sounds like a network issue.

The only other thing I would even remotely consider in diagnosing your problem is the graphics card and/or available RAM when launching ESO.

99% of Wireless Routers have Ethernet Ports. I would suggest running a Ethernet cable to the router first and disable the wireless on the PC/Laptop. I would also recommend trying a Wired Mouse if your using Wireless. And, have you changed the batteries recently in your wireless mouse?

If the wired ethernet connection makes things better, there are ways to make your Wireless more stable. But, really, for gaming, wired internet connection, wired keyboard and wired mouse will make things so much better.

The other thing to look at is any new applications you installed, or that installed themselves, that may be taking focus away from the game. But, try the things above first.

Same stuff, OP. The game works well: everyone around is running, fighting, but when i'm going forward and trying to rotate the camera - it just freezes and character keeps running his way for a second, even if 'WASD' buttons aren't pressed.

    Excuse me for my English.
