Is One Tamriel a Good Idea?

    Good Idea!
I think this is a great change. Many of my characters have content in low-level zones that they did not do and going back to a level 20 zone on a cp 501 vet character to chase the Tamriel Hero title or kill dungeon bosses is incredibly boring.

Additionally, removing the walls between players in different alliances in PvE is awesome. I'm thinking things like overworld guild events are going to be a lot more fun now that they do not have to be alliance-specific.

While I am all for it, I think that the next consequent step to make people happy after "one Tamriel" is live is to implement character-specific difficulty sliders - so that players can cater this to their preferred playstyle - and that this "too easy" whining finally stops - make it adjustable from carebear to nightmare - and kill them in 1 shot before they even get a chance to do anything - nightmare mode - just like that, a real nightmare  (kidding of course)

No pvp, just being able to attack somehow like poison their drinks or set fire on their templar houses.

Cautiously optimistic. The ideal implementation in my mind would be to just make every zone the same as current DLC zones. Boom, bang, done. From and RP standpoint, could mean a whole new world (or two) of characters, coming soon.

Very good. Ppl are acting like they didn't just ask ZOS to scale Silver, gold and Craglorn.

ZOS did that and the starter faction! I don't get what's to even consider....it's good

Sorry but to me it's just a bad idea. Cadwell's silver and gold were already a stretch, story-wise. The removal of any boundaries means there's no semblance of coherence left. Unless they completely rewrite it, that is. Maybe, just maybe, we'll finally see the factions unite against the daedra. But I don't know where that leaves the Alliance War.

It was all either very poorly thought out from the get go, or the lack of backbone on ZOS' part means they have no clue where to take the game and are just drifting on the tides of player opinions - first the inclusion of silver and gold, which were not in the early betas, them the addition of CP ranks while leaving vet levels, now more than a year later the removal of vet levels... in all honesty, it feels to me that there's nobody at the helm.

The real question is: how does this effect the game's appeal to an Asian market? My intuition tells me that it would make the game more appealing to the Asian market - but that is just based on how the game would feel (after pla]ying a couple of successful Asian MMO's in the past and imagining/comparing to how playing One Tamriel would feel.)

Yeah, kinda wanted them to keep it only to one's faction, and then once the others unlock, can battle level those as well (but only post 50). But I'm not too upset about it. What I don't get is people saying the Challenge will disappear. I already felt that the battle levelled zones provided more of a challenge to sub-50 players there than the 1-50 zones.

The idea of allowing people from different levels and alliances to group together for content is a good one. However, how it is implemented is the key factor here. If done poorly, it could potentially ruin the game (I wish I was exaggerating with this). If you have a look at how GW2 handled this, it was definitely done well. Each zone had its own level range. If you were above it, you were scaled down to meet it. If you were equal to or below it, you weren't scaled at all. This allowed those that were higher levels to actually be able to do content in this zone, and have it be worthwhile and entertaining. While those of lower level could look for a challenge if they wanted to.

What I'm getting the impression of with 'One Tamriel', is that everyone, no matter what zone, is scaled to max level (or CP 150, whatever it is). This severely hinders the need for people to progress (apart from "Oh look, new armour!") due to the game practically obtaining a uniform difficulty for PvE. MMORPGs are all about progression, and this implementation has the potential to ruin that. I feel like this would make more players leave than any other update ZOS has had (at least in the PvE crowd).

tl;dr: ZOS, if you don't want to destroy progression, then you NEED to make the scaling based on individual zones of increasing difficulty, instead of just max level.

Except GW2 doesn't upscale only down-scales players. If a lvl 20 goes into a lvl 70 zone... they will DIE!

I personally feel as though it offers freedom to the player, which is rarely a bad move, and makes content fun to play through at any level. Similar systems have been implemented in GW2 and have been successful in the DLC zones.

Yeah, freedom to have all three factions stealing your kills, resource nodes, certain quest objectives, and safeboxes. Doesn't that just sound wonderful? >_>'

Hopefully the PVE will feel a bit more like the other Elder Scrolls games, where you go wherever you think your character would want to go and do whatever you think the character would want to do.

Also, lots more people interacting will be fun. Some of those zones have become kinda dead compared to launch.

i personally think its a real good idea especially the no faction restriction part. there nothing worst than not beeing able to play with a friend irl beacause you chose a different faction than them same can be said for the level you won't need to level up a new character just to play with your friends. this might make the game a bit more like a single player ES concidering you will probably have more freedom on what quests you want to do

    Depends on 2 things:

1). Will the game fork into multiple instances of each zone to prevent overcrowding?

2). Is this going to be all we get as an update for the foreseeable future? Typically, we have had knowledge of what DLC is coming well in advance. But we have heard nothing about DLC after Dark Brotherhood, which is scary. Why are they not hyping upcoming DLC at E3? That kind of marketing is usually what events like E3 are all about! "Content Is King", and battle-leveling old areas is a nice idea in and of itself, but it is not new content and should not be treated as such.

Good idea but heavily dependent on how it's implemented. Here are some issues I see:

    1. Crafters don't just craft for themselves, so how do our master crafters get lower level mats? Currently in scaled zones we get 50% to match our character's level and 50% to match their skill level. So if the whole world is battle leveled, where does she get lower level mats? I talk about this more in depth here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/271720/crafting-in-one-tamriel

    2. More competition for all nodes could make farming a nightmare. Adjustments would need to be made.

    3. Will lag increase in high population areas? This depends on how the servers are set up and a lot of details we don't know about how the program works.

    4. It can already be hard to complete quests in popular grind spots. And hard to grind while questers, other grinders, and would-be trolls interrupt you. With more population this could be come much worse for both questers and grinders. Even if they fix the lag 100% that does nothing to address multiple people trying to kill the same monsters at the same time. Perhaps that can be solved with some sort of scaling for the number of people assaulting that mob or boss. No matter what the solution I think solo-questing won't be possible for those areas that are both a popular quest and a popular grind spot.

I don't think any of this is un-solvable because we have a great community with a lot of very smart, creative people. But ZOS will need to LISTEN TO US, think about these issues ahead of implementation, care enough to make sure they are solved, put in the necessary dev time, and NOT IMPLEMENT UNTIL IT IS FIXED.

We will also have to do our part. To test things like lag we will need LOTS of people on PTS testing the hell out of it, so everyone please plan on being part of that. If we only PTS in the pitiful numbers we had for DB and a trashed system goes live, we will have no one to blame but ourselves.

    It's a terrible idea.

The game CANNOT handle one alliance instance now let alone all 3 stuffed in the same instances.

It's going to be hell. The lag/crashing/trolling/griefing/zone chat/skill spamming is bad enough now. Multiplying that by 3 EVERYWHERE is literally going to make it unplayable for many people.

It would have been nice if they had come to us FIRST and said, "We are thinking about this One Tamriel concept. What do you think?" instead of just saying We. Are. Doing. This. ZOS is really lousy at getting buy-in from the players.

    1. We can hang out with guildies from other factions. Cool!

    2. I'm going to miss the less inhabited vet zones.

    3. Any race, any alliance. This becomes pointless, so what happens with purchases of that?

This is a horrible idea!!!!!! Why would anyone bother leveling at this point? If you can access any area at any point in time then what is the purpose of leveling of the quests that I am sure many people put so much time in to developing.

STOP MAKING THE GAME EASIER!!!!!!!! We enjoy playing it because it is difficult. If you make it easy, what is the point? Fix the game but for now, stop changing it!!!!

Unless they really revamp the story, nothing is going to make sense, even less than it does now. Unless there is something else going on with crafting, that will be broken completely.

I will wait to see how it is going to work. For the first time since the game released however, I'm considering dropping my sub. If this turns into the mess I think will happen, I'm out. I didn't think anything besides forcing me into pvp would make me say that.

I don't think this is just something they chose not to implement. I struggle to see how something like this is possible in an open-world game. Instances, sure, but most quests aren't instanced.
