Is One Tamriel a Good Idea?

    Good Idea!
I really don't know how can anybody be against this idea. It's freakin awesome! This is the change many of us have been looking for since launch.

When I was leveling through my home alliance's zones, I was doing all the quests, delves, world bosses, dungeons etc. As a result, my char was always overleveled with regard to the zone he was in back then. I had an impression that the pace in which I was gaining new levels was too fast. Thanks to the One Tamriel project, there will be no such inconveniences. The zones will scale to my pace of progression, my choices, my way of playing this game and they will be always challenging.

On the other hand older zones will be much more interesting when you won't be able to kill everything in one hit. Finally there will be a reason to go back to those 'done' zones just to complete the remaining quests or to farm crafting materials (cause I hope they will be scaled to).

But I am happy the most for removing the alliances instances! It provides nothing but benefits. The world will be much more populated and the cadwell's silver and gold zones won't be such a desolate and sad places. Sometimes it is so hard to find a group (e.g. for pledges) via zone chat. If you can't find one in Deshaan, you can jump to Grahtwood or Stormhaven to try your luck here.

There is only one thing I'm wondering about: will this One Tamriel project 'unlock' silver and gold zones for doing the crafting writs and Undaunted pledges (picking up the quests and completing them). I would really like that.

So overall, it's only about the freedom of choice. It's always been like that in TES games and it should be in ESO too.

I'm looking forward to it. Impatiently ;-)

    Good Idea!
This is a great idea that addresses so many things that currently make no real immersive sense.

Lore: Elder scrolls series have always been about shades of grey. The social fabric is mixed and cosmopolitan, the races of Tamriel mingle extensively and wars are political and ideological rather than racial. The elder scrolls world isn't one where orcs slaughter humans indiscriminately or vice versa. You have different races cohabiting in cities, altmer live side by side with dunmer and nords and khajiit. There are guilds that cut across racial and faction lines. Fighters guild, Mages Guild, Thieves Guild, the dark brotherhood, any number of untold guilds like the Undaunted in eso or Dawnguard in Skyrim that do not concern themselves with the race and origin of members. In this backdrop, it makes sense for a Nord for example, who wants to travel around the world to be able to manage that, to come into contact with people who live in different cities and are loyal to a different faction. If a Khajiit manages to travel to Deshaan, he might encounter suspicion and bigotry but no one is likely to outright murder him for being a cat person - that's not the elder scrolls world.

From an "immersion" perspective - how can it possibly be more immersive that when you travel through the realms of different factions on Meridia's quest, you actually get a weird twilight zone copy of those lands which are empty of the people who actually live there. Caldwells for onc the actually makes sense. You travel to a different faction, Meridia provides your magic passport and visa, and you meet and quest with the actual people the alliance war has groomed you to hate so you learn to sympathise with them. That's the point of Caldwell's quests and finally they will make sense.

Alliance War: Cyrodiil is going to be unaffected by One Tamriel. You still choose an alliance at character creation and can only fight for that alliance.

As a side effect of One Tamriel, certain zones where all alliances congregate will give rise to cross faction chatter. It's not a bad thing. It might get heated, but more likely it will allow people to share points of view. ESO has a largely decent and friendly community, I don't think the sky is falling. We've had cross faction guilds since the start of the game and yes sometimes contentious issues get thrown up but more often than not things remain civil. The sky won't fall.

Crowding: Some zones should get a bit more crowded. Craglorn which has been deserted since Orsinium will get a little livelier. The DLC ones will likewise experience heavy traffic at the start which tapers off over the next weeks and months. These are all good changes because more people mean more grouping opportunities. It's also much much more immersive to travel to a supposedly neutral area and encounter people from all over the world.

Faction capitals: I'm seeing many people complaining that one capital will become too crowded and melt but I don't see how it would be any different from now. Different factions still have to get their pledges from their own Enclaves and return there. It might mean people get pledges and then travel between Mournhold, Wayrest and Grahtwood looking for groups and that's good.

The best change will be breathing new life into the gold and silver zones which are completely deserted currently.

As a leader of a social/casual guild, this will create so much opportunity for inclusive guild events and activities.

There isn't a single reason to be negative about One Tamriel except 'this is a big change and change is scary'.

    Bad Idea!
it may make the game better. but it's totally irrelevant to all long-time players and a huge waste of resources. it's like an official statement that ZOS expects the time you spend in eso enought to buy the base game, 1-2 DLCs and 1-2 mounts and then move on. No long-time players wanted

Its good in a gameplay perspective bad from a lore standpoint.

Race selection in any elder scroll game is bad for lore... its like argonian lord nevarine its like one no one is gonna believe you and two all dunmer will murder you for trying to claim to be him... skyrim kinda hints at nords and maybe imperial being the only dragon born based on alessia and lore mumbo jumbo... just about anything on the player side is not lore friendly lol

    I'm Indifferent
I dunno yet, I have to see it in action and play it, but for some reason my gut feeling is telling me I may not like how it changed the atmosphere of the game, but to early to tell, might be the best thing since sliced bread, might be bantha poo doo.

I think it may be the beginning of the end but a great idea. A big boost to numbers and then a slow, slow decline but I will play on it's still fun. Well if Elder Scrolls 6 comes out..... :*
