New animations are slow, players are now constrained by the combat system instead of personal skill.

Animations are no longer consistent visual feedback with what abilities are being executed at a given time and when damage is connecting with the enemy.

ZOS please...they feel clunky and unresponsive as hell. No one complained about the old ones! Why on earth are you trying to "fix" something that isn't broken???

    Something weird is going on when you fight mobs that are even slightly above or below you, attacks like Crushing Shock fail to fire. If a mob is standing on a small mound or the side of a hill, that's all it takes to cause your attacks to bug out.

    Yeah, seems like it has a quota to fill per day. Worst part is 97.8% of them are pointless, just looking for acceptance from the community. It's like that person that states the obvious and everyone agrees with.

    I agree. I have encountered this kind of behavior as well. My character has started to stutter and fail to fire projectiles or gap closers. Definitely something wrong here.

    And this subject is not minor. Stamina was more affected by the animation changes. Go play it, and you'll see how different combat feels.

    Then everyone should vocalize them. If we're silent, then ZOS assumes we're satisfied. If no one speaks up, then nothing changes. I'd rather be vocal and maybe make a difference than be silent and make no difference at all.

    The animations are somewhat clunky but I can't tell if it's the animation or animation priorities making it feel this way . It's just not as smooth anymore . Also , there's a few dozen bugs with ultimates not responding , animations not completing and strange visual bugs with weapons .

    Nothing I would quit over , there's bigger reasons for that with PvP but I'm not trying to derail your thread . I'm hoping tomorrow brings a lot of fixes because I too am annoyed .

    Well this suck can we please have update on this @ZOS_JessicaFolsom I don't want to experience this in PVP.Most of my guildies that I usually play with are looking for a excuse to leave with DB.

    Also thanks for bring this @KenaPKK I was wondering what the game was like with the changes to animation obviously not good from what I been hearing and seeing in streams.

    I don't feel too much of a change on my magicka characters, and I still have to spec and play with my stamina characters, so I can't comment alot on this issue.

    I bet the ultimates not responding is more related to the anti cheat measures.

    People where very vocal in the PTS. didn't make a damn bit of difference. stop playing the game, stop buying *** in the game, that's the only way at this point.

    I mean ZoS has made such a mess with this patch in soo many ways, i don't even know where to begin.

    @ZOS_JessicaFolsom these combat changes are absolutely atrocious. This is the first time in 2 years I've honestly considered quitting ESO.

    Short answer is DKs likely won't be seeing a ton of changes before we go live; this class is still quite powerful (as it should be being a tank), even after some of the adjustments we've made to other classes and abilities.

    I dislike that it is so hard to visually see what stage your character is in. Rotations and fighting for me are now about blindly pushing buttons and hoping that everything went alright. Sometimes I recast an ability thinking I weaved incorrectly and the spell didnt register, but infact it just wont be shown until the end of whatever current animation I am currently in.

    Maybe if you are an observer simply watching the game with all the UI turned off then I might say animations looks smoother.
    As a player who needs animations to confirm the action I have requested is being performed, it absolutly blows. Playing because I enjoy the competition, I really don't care that much about how nice an animation looks. I care more that the visual information I am recieving is time relevant and useful.

    The old combat animations I really appreciated. Considering you have all these actions with different priorities (basic attacks, skills, block, dodge etc) I think you previously nailed the balance between displaying current actions while keeping transitions between them reasonably smooth. Stuff like shooting fire from a staff in the right hand, expecting the animation cancel, and using its backwards followthrough motion as a more natural transition to reaching out and casting a spell with your other hand. It probably isn't going to win any fine art awards, but it also wasn't the spasming mess animation cancelling was early on. I think the old animation system was a really understated success for zos.


    Not sure if its completely related, but this patch it feels like sometimes when breaking free of cc I have to wait until the break free animation has completely finished before being able to do anything. This issue is not consistant, so I am hesitant to immediately blame the animation changes. Playing on a relatively high ping of 300-350 all sorts of hiccups happen

    I don't know what they've done but combat feels completely different since this patch, now It's horrible :(

    Weaving in light attacks between abilities (animation cancelling) used to feel smooth and you could actually see the animations, now I can weave in 4 Surprise Attacks between several light attacks and only see myself swing a sword twice. The combat now feels sluggish and often attacks (especially Ultimates) don't even go off.

    Please ZOS whatever you guys have done, undo it.

    It's not just the animation prioritization changes.. It's the all the changes combined that are taking away the fast dynamic combat we used to love this game for. Instead we have slow motion sluggish combat paired with a ton of lag and generally low fps as well as bugs which will never ever be fixed. Not to mention any sort of class balance.

    I don't understand how these people resposible for this can continue destroying a game which had so much potential. At this point we should all know that it won't get better I guess.
    1.5 was imo this game's peak, even though stamina still needed some more love. After that, it's just been going down.

    The game feels so damn sluggish, so clunky and unresponsive and so buggy. The one great thing about ESO was the combat, among all the disastrous bugs and failures in play, they had to go ahead and screw this one good thing up.

    I love walking around with my 1H, but looking like I'm trying to hold a 2H weapon. This is my favorite bug since beta, ZOS just LOVES this bug, I can't stand it.

    The combat system was the best part about this game @ZOS_GinaBruno and now it's become unresponsive and messy. Aeryj you nailed it here.

    Main things I've noticed in this update.

    1. Horrible ugly block animation no one asked for (that vast majority on PTS said they didn't want)

    2. Broken weapon swap animation.

    3. Sluggish, unresponsive combat.

    These are the main things I've noticed, things which are actually ruining the game for me right now.

    I play this game because I love the combat system. It is awesome! I could look past the lag, the balance issues, the bugs, the cheaters, etc because the combat was just so amazing to me. I had so much fun in pvp and always felt like there is no other game that could give me this kind of excellent combat. Now with the Dark Brotherhood changes, that has changed. I loved this game so much and felt like I would never leave it, but these animation changes have ruined the combat for me. I hop into pvp now and try so hard to like the new changes, but I can't. This change honestly might make me quit the game and it makes me so sad to say that because of how much I love the game. But these changes just aren't fun. I don't understand why they would do this to the combat when it was so perfect and amazing before. I really hope zos changes back what they did with the combat.

    Well it's about time everybody experiences the laggy server performance. Seems to be working fine to me, just don't forget to reset the router.
