Lol I don't use a vMA staff and I can pull 25k dps on my magsorc lol, you don't need them at all.

to be amoung the top players you do, it's a fair amount extra dps, i like hitting the max stats i can

It's when people say things like this that I'm reminded just how little so many of the complaints on these forums actually mean to me.

Like, I'm not saying that it isn't important to some people, or that there's anything wrong with that. It's just that, until you said that, I was thinking... "Yeah, the risk versus reward here just isn't worth it." then you said that and it turned into, "Do I even care about this reward?"

i get that but there a lot of people who would love these weps but just don't see the point considering the stress of vma just for a chance, it sucks

    Yeah, totally.
I mean, if a Maelstrom Dagger dropped off of some random goblin, I'd be stoked as hell.
I'm just not ambitious enough, nor do I care enough about being "one of the top players" to actively chase the damned thing.

Hehehe. What makes this game fun for me over the long haul? All of it,..but for the PvP,and the need to max everything, get the best gear,or be the best player with the top points, etc.I'm not into competitive playing.Like you,I have no wish to do the non-vet OR the vet MA.
I am homebound, and have tons of time to play, and I love creating new characters to try different things or races with. And I have tried to find another game that has the feel of ESO,but no luck at all.No other game has so much within it,so much life and beauty. Also, they try to keep new content coming, even though IC will never be something I run through. That's fine for me.I dont mind if they put out new content I am not into.Others will be into it.
There are things that even though I have finished the main quest many times,I find new.Things I have somehow missed.Like last night.I was in Rivenspire and found a whole new(to me) dungeon questline I hadnt done!

    ZoS, please please please ....

When you release DB, please create another VMA-type dungeon that has a 100% chance to drop your choice of weapon and trait, and make it add 500 wd/sd. And then make the dungeon absolutely impossible to complete. I don't care how you do it. I just want to see all these entitled squeaky wheels really have something to complain about. It would make for wonderful reading while at work.

    Thanks in advance, ZoS.

Right now I don't have a character that can get through VMA. All my high level characters are either healers or tanks. I made it through regular on my healer and after the new content comes out I might respec her and see if I can get through vet. I don't really care about the weapons but would like to get as many achievements on my healer as I can.

If she can't do it I have a couple of low level nightblades coming up that look promising. I like the hard content. I just wish there was something similar to really test my healing abilities. Something like keeping some peasants alive as they swim in lava and taunt demi-gods.

Wow one player wrote they had done VMA 100 times and still no weapon drop. That is totally pathetic. I can see doing VMA until you complete it but after that the challenge for me would be gone. ZOS should of given players another option to acquire the MA weapons besides having to continue to farm the arena's content. I for one am sick and tired of ZOS's repeatable content. For me it is no fun to do the same content over and over again.

That person may, or may not have been me. I've run VMSA over 100 times, and I've yet to have a staff of any kind appear in the final chest for me. Yes, you read that correctly. Over 100 runs, and no: Ice, inferno, lightning, or restoration staff. It's actually why I am not touching the game, until the DB DLC launch.

ZOS needs to rework their RNG to be honest,

Here you have VMA, Why not give the option at the end like at the end of the fighters guild quest,
    What weapon you want,
but the trait you cannot choose,

    Like
    staff
    2H
    1H
    Shield
    Bow

    and you select one,

Also their RNG on shuffle is totally screwedup.....

I can understand your frustration but at the same time if it were that easy to obtain you wouldn't find it worth farming anyway. I'm getting tired of posts like this. Or the ones where they're upset because "waaaah I got the weapon but it's not the trait I want!".
I spent nearly 15 hours fishing Bangkori for ONE blue fish! It was the last one I needed for the Covenant fishing achievement. Don't want to think of the total number of hours! It sucked and was frustrating at times but it was my choice to do that rather than sometime fun in the game. Atleast your farming experience is more interactive and entertaining than that.
Take a break and go back in a few days. It seems to give you a better favor with the RNG god.

Have you ran it over 100 times. ? People are complaining because the spend 100s of hours trying to get the BIS gear to perform at the highest level. Now I don't care about vma. Only interested in trials but this fecking hell hole of an arena won't drop me what I need. So instead of spending time where I want to be in the game I'm up against s poor RNG system and solo content which I hate.

You know what is ruining this game for me? The performance.

I can't even go into vMA anymore because guaranteed by arena 5 the game crashes or I lag so hard it causes a death or a disconnect (and every time I disconnect it resets my instance by the time I get back into the game, so I have to restart). For the record, I've beaten it multiple times and have a couple of the weapons I need, but not all.

I spent the last 3 months (since TG came out) working directly with ZOS support (over 10 different representatives), my ISP and the phone company who owns the phone lines/servers between me and ZOS's server. I ran dozens of traceroutes from people all over the country with different ISPs. All of the data I collected is solid proof that the issue is on ZOS's side.

Of course, I gave all of this information to ZOS. Whether or not they use it to make their game better, who knows? But I'm not stepping foot into vMA again until I can play this game for an hour without being forced out of it. Even trials a complete joke. Two weeks ago on PC the weekly was HRC. I took my guild through it, and we had a disconnect and 2 major lag issues before we even got to the first boss (and anyone who's done HRC knows that the first boss is a hop, skip and a jump away from the front door).

I dont mind the difficulty... Its actually quite enjoyable to be able to do it, because you know it was you and only you that got you through it. You aren't being carried by a group of people, you aren't relying on others for heals or damage or to distract the adds. its purely learning the mechanics and class and applying that knowledge without a safety net. (one slip can be death on most classes except sorcs who generally require two slips to die)

What i do hate about vMA is the Lag and what it leads to. Having out of sync red circle and enemy animations. sudden deaths, moon walking. dodge rolls not dodging, blocks not blocking. that is where the frustration comes. Which is then compounded by the reward system seeming inadequate compared to the effort.

What you need is to have earned what you want in 100 runs so those that could do it from day 1 don't need to still be farming it now and others get a chance at weekly leaderboards.

Never will even attempt, I'd rather keep using my crafted staff, the fact I can 100% choose the trait and style is nice.

I'd rather not slave away grinding vMA of all places, for an ugly as *** staff, that only gives me 100 sd.

Maelstrom Destro in a good trait is best in slot by a mile. If that doesn't appeal to you, then you are all good. Not everyone cares about such things. Now if you are suggesting that the difference is negligible compared to a crafted staff, you are simply wrong. My tests show a Maelstrom Destro adds about 3-5k DPS depending on the encounter. That is pretty significant, and I dont think any other single item can do that.

Maelstrom 1h on a stam DK adds much more, but you are right about the staff being BIS for Magicka DPS.

Oh god yes. Maelstrom Dagger and Axe seem to be designed to make Stam DK OP. It's why I leveled one last month. Stam DK is going to be in first place for PVE DPS by a mile. These weapons basically double your weapon damage on your DOTs, which make up half your damage or more. It is like Ravager on crack without the unnecessary health buffs.

The staff is just a better example because there are way more magic characters in PVE than Stam DKs. But you are right, the buff on the 1H weapons for that class is by far the most powerful.
