Refined 860 Rubedire Ore and reaped 1 Tempering Alloy

    Well, from what I've read so far, I've gathered this:

    1) It doesn't matter what kind of ore you refine
    2) Each crafting session (entering crafting mode) is like rolling a DnD die

    So I'll just go somewhere with plentiful harvest, regardless of ore level, then refine 2 or 3 times to see if I gain anything right away, then if not, exit crafting mode and try again.

    I just refined the 10 Rubedite Ore I got from my hireling, and got a Temp Alloy from refining those...

    It may or may not be a myth. But it has happened to me too many times where I have done a 100 Raw and gotten no tempers at all, and other times I get a nice return of Tempers. Too many times I have exited the station and restarted the process to get a higher frequency of tempers back. Now, I have gotten the same or less doing this too. But, the Temper Return rate does change from one session to another.

    I think what is happening is the RNG factor is determined when you activate the station, and that factor is applied to the chance to get the temper. It make sense from a programming standpoint to have it work this way, although there is no reason as to why it should.

    Could you explain in layman's terms what seeded loot generation means in this context.
    Am a whimsical Generation Jones gamer. Online RPGs hooked me since '94 and no sign of stopping soon...

    another thing i do is if i do 100 ore and dont get anything i will walk away from the anvil to reset it, this seems to work sometimes also.

    "Seems to work sometimes" means does absolutely nothing but sometimes afterwards you get a good random number or two and sometimes you don't regardless.

    This is why some people get the same stuff over and over when opening mass undaunted chests or IC containers too. Some people even used to think that loot was based off of rolls tied to the specific servers that players are connected to. I don't necessarily believe in seeding to that extent, but I still see instanced RNG sessions happening like Talemire says.

    This has happened to me, and lately they seem to be getting harder and harder to get, however a week or so ago I refined 240-ish ore and got 3 lol :#

    It does not make any sense.

    If it was implemented this way, it would be a HUGE vulnerability that could easily be exploited.

    Buy 500K raw materials, wait for the "good" session, refine and crash the market.

    It does not work that way. I always refine larger numbers and I have very little deviations from the statistical average (which is in line with what some other guys have already posted: 5% per refinement step).

    Termpering Alloy is the hardest Legendary mat to get bar none. Everyone know this, including ZoS. For w/e reason they want the metal upgrade yellow to be rarest in game...

    RNG just doesnt exist. Something has to create the RNG and that is what we should look into.

    If a dice is weighted, we don't just call it RNG, but that is how ESO loot works, like a weighted dice.

    Ever since mid TG I have found the RNG to be terrible as well...

    I now wait until i have over 1,6k mats and then I mass improve the mats, funny thing is I might not get any I might get a ton. One time not too long ago I just had 20 mats I needed the space so I refined them, got 1 D Wax from the first stack I was like... You have got to be kidding me :mrgreen:

    Honestly, I feel like I get a lot more out of the lower materials vs the rubedite. I refined 200 rubedite hide and got no gold tempers. I refined 200 hide scraps and got 3. It could just be RNG but this type of situation plays out for me rather frequently. It is NEVER the other way around.

    Just thank the exploiters for having more gold mats then they should have. No doubt , those mules with stacks of golds are affecting the rate during refining.

    I generally give all of my mats from leveling my low level characters to my main crafter. It seems having a variety of ores, hide scraps, wood or cloth gives me slightly better luck. If I strike out x amount of times on one ore I switch to another. But most likely it's just luck.

    I'm close to calling it a day with the writs as well. I'm hardly getting a thing. Used to get a legendary temper for each writ every other day or so. Now I'm lucky to get one per week. Dropping the rates that we can find them is just one method that zenimax is using to keep us playing the game (which is understandible) but unfortunately for new players, the point where they become competive in pvp is getting further away with every patch. I'm not sure the developers can see that they are making the rich players richer by increasing demand and cost of materials and making it incredibly hard for new vet16's to progress. Players with specific aspirations for their characters will eventually get bored of the bar changing and move onto another game leaving those who are already at that point bored with the lack of competition. This might be however, the early signs of the legendary tempers eventually being available in the crown store.

    Ive not had a gold resin ftom refining since tg launched...thousands refined. I have given up now.
