I've had a couple of comments I've had to shut down a few times within my guild but the main guys also tend to shut them down as well if there is ever a problem. It's much better than some other games.

I don't tend to go into area chat and if in a big city I have had xbox messages from players generally trying to be helpful and a couple asking if I will go out with them or other such rubbish. Really the bad behaviour isn't really there in this game and certainly not in the level it is in others.

I'm in a guild (in fact the GL) that has 2 to 1, in favor of women. Wife plays. The only comment I've heard from any of the women is they turn off main chat.

But for guild invites, the main rule is to keep chat and vent very clean as we have kids also.

    I guess I'm not welcome then. :'(

We live in a stupid, ignorant world, in which we do not care about the other.
Respect seems long gone, in whatever form, and I think this is one of the reasons, that women tend to avoid certain games.

Maybe ZOS should step up extremely, and make sexist/sexual tinted remarks a perma-bannable offense...

If I had something to say in that, rest assured, not many would try that *** on others.

For what it's worth, being a man, I apologize openly for the behavior of some other men...

"If it looks like a bear, if it feels like a bear, smells and tastes like a bear, then be VERY aware, it could be something ENTIRELY different..."

I am so happy to see that more women are playing video games. Sometimes I feel like I was born in the wrong generation when nearly no women are in playing games. Most genX women think gaming is for immature men or a hobby for kids which is ridiculous. I am happy to see things change in the new generation. More women in gaming is good and I hope the trend continues. Much respect for women who game!

I can't believe that we have a topic dedicated for sexual equality... :DDD

And you say you did not have any troubles with your personal sensitivity, but you call upon others to share their uncomfortable experiences! And you say they will be reported! This goes beyond imagination! This is like dictature of the worst kind! Many of us play drunk or high, especially my female guildmates, they simply cannot abandon the wine for ESO evenings! :D And they do point out to some nasty stuff, but it is okay... we are having fun.

This post is like a Torrente movie. A series of an imaginative policeman's dark jokes :D

    This is truly epic!!!

Being 42 and all, I really don't understand this penchant for some male gamers to insult female gamers.

Grow up, because if they cannot treat a woman in-game with respect, it really makes me wonder how those gamers treat women outside of gaming.

Oh, and last but not least, always keep in mind, fellow males, is that it was a woman who gave birth to you. Most of us love our mothers, so let's treat other women the same we'd treat the woman who brought us into the world.

I garantee you guys that trash talk/insult women In Games are either 12 or WAY too shy and socially awkward to actually insult a woman IRL lol.

I don't ever turn on voice chat on the Xbox and don't hang out in the cities at night when things can get crazy so have been fairly immune to awkward experiences. I find it rather odd though. There are an amazing number of female characters and from comments on the forums it seems quite clear that many guys prefer to watch curvy lady hips when they are running in third person. This brings up the question of why any guy would be rude to a female character. Don't they ever consider the implications should a male voice speak out?

Of course, some of the gamer tags are quite absurd attached to some of the characters I've seen, so it may be that I still haven't fathomed the male sense of humor especially when he thinks himself anonymous and buffered by his cronies. Of all my characters current and past, I have only ever made one male. I still find him awkward to play because I am in first person and it is me looking out. I'm always and only myself in a game and I'm not a guy.

Exactly the same here, I'm female and only ever created one male character. I find him awkward to play as well since it's "just not me" ;)
The odd thing I've noticed while playing with him was that I got a LOT more whispers from random players, while one would think it's the other way around. I rarely got random whispers when I was with my female characters. Hm, not sure why, either he's interesting to look at, or it's just the strange lastname and people wanted to see if I'm "real" lol

I remember when my main (female) was a low-level in Shadowfen, some random guy (which I didn't even see during the whole conversation) tried to direct the topic into cyber sex stuff which I find rather disgusting in general; what I was doing then was: as my English is not the best and I'm aware of it, I pretended that I didn't exactly understand what he means (of course I did, I wasn't born yesterday^^) and let him "starve", then he left and I've never heard of him again :)

Otherwise I don't have any problems playing as a female, I think it's as fun as it is for any male player, why not :)

Nobody knows I'm a woman, I don't really do much PvP and if I do I don't really scream in the chat that I'm a girl hahaha :p
So I don't get weird reactions? If that already happens.
I do see chats coming by about people saying their a girl but I never ever saw a weird or inappropriate reaction to that from other players. So the playerbase is just awesome

I only play as female characters (just like it more) but a lot of guys do that too. So it is hard to guess if they are a girl or not.

As long as I have fun with the game and other players I don't even really care if the're a boy or girl.

There are all female guilds out there. In general I've found most of the players, male or female, tend to be on the rather nice to not so bad side of things. I think it helps that Elder Scrolls games tend to attract the older players. The super twitch trigger pulling FPS "hero walks away at the end while explosions level the city" demographic isn't necessarily here.

I generally turn off zone chat after a certain point; when it devolves to males debating the merits of using certain ethnic groups hair for menstrual pads there aren't enough slots on the ignore list, imo. And yes, that did happen in Stonefalls one night. I thank the Divines that I don't have to use voice chat. There are people who attempt to troll or flame-bait, and if it is something like that zone chat, yes, I do report them. Generally though, I ignore the bait and trolling.

use the "old" costumes you get ingame along the storyline. They do not cost anything and all you have to do is remember to take them off just before you reach the quest boss/engage in a fight during the quest. They stay in the inventory afer the quest is done and can be used afterwards at all time. Adding to this i saw more chars wearing the crown-store costumes then wearing the story-costumes.

    btt.
I usually do not say i am a female and if I do, I am usually met with doubt. I don't care either way. I rather enjoy "nice butt" comments and haven't been adressed in an insulting way till now.

Well, maybe this one time when I was told I hit like a little girl ... well, yes ... naturally I used to do just that.

I get called babe by random guys in messages, I get called man or dude a lot, I've been told girls can't PVP, I've been told to go make a sandwich, I've been asked to perform sex acts...but those are just a handful of bad experiences compared to the positive experiences I've had.

Yes I found a nice imperial costume in the desert.. but its not the same..
I cant dye it or wear a guild tabard with it plus I like to mix up my clothing sets to create unique and interesting fashions for different occasions. Its an important part of the game for me...
My masksman jerkin makes me look like I have a barrel chest and bear gut, the vicious death clothing makes my eyes bleed even after dying them.

I don't think ZOS really expects us to wear that stuff..

    Disclaimer: Male player.

I've avoided having area chat turned on while in Mournhold, specifically around the Wayshrine/Guild Traders since that's where the most boisterous and least appealing guys of the Pact congregate, and I can't stand those kinds of people. And even though you're correct in saying the game feels dominated by guys, (which many a game pretty much is), I've still run into quite a few girls along my travels, some I've even grouped up with to grind or do runs into the Imperial Sewers. They're just as much of a gamer as I am, probably more so, and I've noticed they even tend to have more of a mouth than I do. Then again I am a pretty reserved person.

The "safety" of the internet really does bring out the worst in people, thinking it's better to be that way and they can get away with it. But my mantra, so to speak, is, why make enemies? Who am I going to impress if I decide to objectify a girl to her digital face? What do I get out of making myself into a *** pig?

Really, if I'm ever going to hassle you ladies, it'll be over getting you to sell me some Embroidery or Honing Stones at a discounted price.

    Oh, grow up.

A "grown up" adult has the ability and responsibility to be kind and accepting and polite to others. A child does not. Telling someone to grow up for asking nicely to refrain from making detrimental comments is the perfect way of saying you, yourself, need some growing up to do.
