Looking forward to you being back! Always fun to have someone to chat with after our fights--the CP grind is real, though, if you aren't close yet.

Completely agree with DeadyRecluse, most Emps (im assuming cause ive never been an emp) would rather not have a bunch of people following them around... And the top 10 would rather not have more people following them for loss of AP

I don't mind it. I've picked up randoms along the way it was fun. Only thing really is for the randoms to not complain if I die, I am not a god. I can still die (and did) as emp lol.

A massive 3-way fight with uniforms required...this could happen. Someone should film it.

Though lately I'm really into the Tree Climbers outfit on my fat Nord with defense posture up...

EDIT: Gratz on your emp last week, btw.

Obviously, @DeadlyRecluse and I are big fans of any sorts of dresses. I'm pretty proud of our little white wedding ensemble we've been running. I'd hate to think that other factions are missing out on wearing wedding clothes in an organized fashion.

@W0lf_z13 , we'll miss you - I didn't know last night was the last time we'd see you for a bit!

And @vamp_emily we're always up for a challenge. I think last night your group might not have wanted to bail out of Aleswell LM, though. I think right after that we went to Aleswell Farm because the LM was boring, then we flagged the keep, and then we crowned emp.

@W0lf_z13 Grinding for CP is always a slog I am sitting at 408 myself and would like to hit 501 before the patch but that means I'm playing vet characters instead of PvPing in Blackwater

Is there some reason to have more than 160 CPs after the DB release if you only PvP in non-CP campaigns?

160 will let you wear all available gear, right? Or did I read the notes wrong?

Yes and no If you 100% only play non-cp campaigns there is no reason. However if you do anything PvE related having only 160 is a hindrance.

So you're saying it's going to be hard for me to get the end-game gear that I want since it's locked behind PvE zones that I'll likely need more than 160 CP to be effective in?

WTB all items with AP please. lol

To some extent, yeah. You CAN get it all with 160 CP, but say you want a perfectly traited set of scathing mage. That means clearing vICP like 200 times. That will be a LOT easier with 501 CP. Or vet Maesltrom for those weapons, that gets way easier once you get above 300 CP.

If all you want is crafted gear and like Engine Guardian? That's easy enough at 160 CP. Of course, for trials/vetPvP in main servers, you'll still be at a disadvantage compared to those with that gear AND 501 CP.

I always recommend at least keeping up with your enlightenment. That doesn't take too long, is the most efficient way to get CP, and leaves plenty of time for BWB.

@mcurley As @DeadlyRecluse said certain gear sets will be a lot harder to obtain with 160 cp. From my experience 300 CP is probably around the safe mark for being able to do all the content. I have tanked vICP and vWGT when I only had around 200 CP but it is a fair bit easier now that i have 408.

Now that gear sets bought from "The Golden" with AP will now only come in impenetrable but the pieces that are bought with gold will still be Infused/Divines. Getting your "Perfect" helm or shoulder from the vendor will be a fair bit harder now , But you can still sell your AP through motifs and such and then pay for it with gold.

It's also worth mentioning that with the release of Dark Brotherhood players will be able to see your CP; now CP doesn't determine your skill level but certain groups may be afraid to take you in a dungeon/trial run because of fear of lack of experience.

The fastest way I've found to gain Champion Points is Maelstrom arena. Normal can be easily beaten by most players on a vet character. You can also get great experience for vMSA if you ever want to try for weapons. Running MSA also gives you the drops at the end of each round which can be useful if you need CP and materials, now MSA isnt the most effective for getting materials but it works pretty nicely.

Incidentally, once you have enough champion points to tear through normal maelstrom, it's the fastest way I've found for getting a new character from 3-10 for BWB. I just port to guildies to get the first two levels from exploration, go into maelstrom at level 5, come out at level 10 about 30 minutes later. Note that the mobs only scale down to 10, so you need to have some okay gear to wear at level 5, and enough CP to handle that difference.

Anything that minimizes time spent OUT of BWB is good thing.

    @DeadlyRecluse @Vendy

Thanks for all the information, guys.

I'm definitely planning to do Maelstrom Arena on my vet characters once DB drops so I can start farming my weapons and other endgame gear. So far I've just been using gear that I craft, but now that I don't need a v16 for endgame gear I'll start looking into which dungeons I need for certain gear-sets.

I have exactly 160 CP now (thanks to a little AS PvP recently) but I'll be a little over that with the gifted CPs I'll get from DB. I guess I'll have to stick to the solo dungeons until I have enough CP for people to accept me into their groups without worrying about my skill.

Killing NPCs is SO boring... but I imagine the endgame dungeons will actually provide a challenge? The PvE I've had to endure up to this point has all been mindless... I could have literally light attacked everything to death as long as I made myself green quality gear sets... truly pathetic.

@Mccurley, "endgame" dungeons are kinda challenging if you run them with a group that doesn't know them well. Definitely more fun than the solo PvE/questing nonsense.

Once you have them down pat, they are about as difficult as cooking rice. If you aren't paying attention, something might burn. Otherwise you get rice. They can still be a lot of fun if you are doing them with friends and intentionally messing around.

It's worth doing, just so you can play around with helm sets even if you only plan on no-CP PvP, though.

I actually like fighting that group. As long as they are not in a tower somewhere! They run a tight group. I don't think I have ever seen more than 6 to 8 in the group. I have never seen t-bagging or trash talk from them and after fight whispers have been pleasant. Pretty classy group imo.

I found there are several groups like that.. it's tough feeling chummy when plowed by well coordinated groups, but you have to respect the coordination and skill whether 2 person or 8 person crews. Unfortunately, I am not a good player combat-wise, so I learn the lay of the land by being on the ground quite a bit. but all in good fun. stale or otherwise.

I guess my biggest complaint is this..... when I'm alone and a larger group is on my tail, let's fight. I mean if it's fun to steam roll 1 person with your group have at it. But when the solo person is holding block while jumping up and down, just fight. It's not like the rest of your group can't rez you if you die. If you want to steam roll 1 person at least unequip your weapons and beat me to death.

I think Sheogorath said it best when he said, "Fight, don't block/jump..." or wait.. maybe I am misquoting. He's an odd one, that. But I think that was his point..
