It certainly does for a vast majority of builds. Yes you could use more than 1 depending on your build. You could slot 10 if you wanted, sure. That doesn't mean you can effectively play a build that way.

Dodge buff, fear, stealth/invis, damage buff/heal over time, heal, damage buff or way to counter stealthed players, dot, dd, gap closer, finisher.

Why would you ever drop any of them for another attack? What attack would you even need? Another dot? You already have the damage with weaving light-heavy attacks and bash (if you want) with your 1 dd and your dot to keep constant damage.

This game most certainly does make you choose one spam button for a large majority of builds if you want to be as effective as possible (not to mention you will always find many templars in open world who will be running ritual and cleansing your dots if you run multiple dots).

I pointed to DoT builds as an alternative to DD builds...particularly the one I use on my mDK. I was saying that having multiple dps spells as a DoT build is obviously better...

I literally never "spam" any damage spells on my mDK and I do very well. I also still have both hard and soft CCs, a spell damage buff, mitigation buffs, a spell damage debuff, an invis counter, and heals.

I also have a DD spell spamming mNB so I understand those kinds of builds as well.

Just pointing out that there is indeed more than one way to play effectively in this game.

@Defialed and @skepticalfox , you can't have an ERPvP 1v1. That's the sort of thing that only gets better with more bodies.

I think it's needless to say there will be a lot of meatbags and oils at this ERPvP brawl. Let's make sure it's poorly coordinated and sloppy.

Well to be honest with you, the ones that are not spamming, and use different skills, seem to be better fighters. They seem to know more about how things work. I haven't made to that point yet, but I think I'm still learning even after a year of playing.

Well yeah, I mean if you have a reason to use other skills, but don't use them, that's not very good. And I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who do spam DPS when they probably shouldn't be. But if I can easily kill somebody by spamming my main DPS skill, that's what I'm going to do. If you're doing a good job applying pressure and mitigating/healing/avoiding damage, then yeah, somebody spamming probably isn't a better fighter than somebody using a variety of skills, and you'll probably be able to kill them. But I'm not talking about when somebody who doesn't know what they're doing fails to kill you because all they're doing is spamming something; people don't complain about not getting killed by a spammer. I'm talking about when you successfully kill somebody by spamming DPS, which almost always means the opponent didn't put up a good enough fight to justify you doing anything else.

I'm starting to wonder why this discussion is in the BwB thread. Sure we all worship those who tell others to "git gud" . Hell most of us have screen shots of all you best people in the world hanging above our beds. But that's not really what this thread is about. Keep it positive people. On a side note.... I got gud at real life so I'm perfectly happy just having fun playing a game.
