Real summary. If you enjoy playing games on the consoles then you won't be disappointed with it. If you enjoy playing on PC you will likely enjoy the game on PC. Either way you won't be disappointed with the game; it plays well on consoles as well as the PC. I prefer my console because that is what I am accustomed to and I don't like to play games on PC.
It does not play as well on console as it does on PC. I've played both
I think some people forget too that addon add features that would be a part most of MMORPGS by default. Damage Numbers, Effects Trackers, Enemy HP % visible, etc. The game has DPS checks in boss mechanics, phase changes based on health left, multiple effects to manage, and execute that interact with remaining health, and so on. It has one half and not the other.Strider_Roshin wrote: »PC.
Please don't bother with Console.
If you're just a casual player, Console is fine, but if you're going to be competitive in the end, want the best gear, min/max, all that crap — pick PC.
Lol okay buddy, there's plenty of casuals on both, and your hardcore PC players are too dependant on your add-ons to be quite honest. I do like the combat text but that's coming to console anyways.
Combat addons don't play for you, that's a common misconception. Most of the features would be standard and default in any other MMORPG. The pop ups for 'Potion Ready', 'Ultimate Ready', and 'Execute Now' would be the typically type of addons, along with parsers. However even those are starting to surface as default features. Everything else such as effect timers, damage numbers, enemy health %, visible resource numbers are not hidden from players in most other games.
The truth is not that PC players are dependant on addons, but rather ZOS left half the info invisible while having the functions of multiple effects to manage, bosses with DPS check mechanics, and skills that react to health values still in game.
I have literally heard a PC player say he doesn't know if the boss is in execute range because he didn't have his add-on on. That's pretty dependant to me
...I don't know guess its just me. I grew up when games did not have add ons and you got by with your wit and will.

I don't think i ever spent more than 5 minutes to "tune" the game to my machine. I just install, set all to max, and enjoy the game.
LOL

And why not? If you enjoy it that way, it's your life and choice. I don't think I have the power to change it
But hell, I admit I'm a bit nerdy in such stuff. I go to the bone.
I don't dislike setting up the best configuration as possible. But the consequence is that it takes some time to set it up.
The standard settings are usual ok, but if you want that bit more...
It's personal as well. Some people want all the details and don't mind a little lag, while others prefer speed above detail.
Last Sunday I spend an entire day to find the best configuration for a certain car on a specific track in Project Cars.
Most people would not do that. It's even possible they would find my behaviour a bit weird. lol

Okay this is completely incorrect, and I didn't want to go here but this comment merits it. When it comes to the community, The console community is way more mature, this isn't even debatable. I think I know the reason why though.
It's because on PC you communicate via text, and just like what you see on the forums, when someone is hiding behind a keyboard they tend to get a bit rude. Now I'm not saying this kind of behavior is absent from the console version but it is certainly less frequent.

Right... Like the teenagers in daggerfall on voice chat in front of the fountain on a Friday night. Those guys are super mature. So mature that I turn off my only communication tool
Don't listen to all the fanboys who want to claim the inherent "superiority" of their preference. The best ESO version is the one that's most fun for YOU.
Asherons_Call wrote: »It doesn't matter what game it is.. the PC version will always outshine console. An unfortunate but true reality as consoles are only the bare bones version made to tailor to casual players. The problem comes in when you get old school daily players that went from PC to console and expect a PC experience and get much less than what they expect.
The hardware in modern consoles nowadays is similar to that of a PC so there is little reason for this kind of discrepancy. There has only been one console game to date that I've played that can hold a candle to the PC version and that is ffxiv. Square enix did an amazing job making sure all platforms were on equal footing
Preach it, brother! Squenix really went back to the drawing board and relaunched FFXIV into a MMO that's hard to beat. Personally, its the only MMO out now that shows that a sub-based MMO can work.

I said that about the older community. My post was deleted and I received a firm warning.

'To Know' is a certainty. Players guess on console.
If I gave you a standard sheet of notebook paper and a pair a scissors. Then asked you to cut it in squares measuring exactly 1 US inch (2.54cm) without the use a of a ruler. Chances are you could come close, knowing roughly what an inch is, but not presicely so.
That is the difference. Seeing a bosses HP percentage is the ruler. A player can guess and get close but not executing right when the boss is in range is a DPS loss. That matters when the game has mechanics that are DPS checks.

Depends. Many people opt for more user-friendly and more balance above power, flexibility and functionality.
There's a reason why many PC players jumped to the Console version. Some regretted the jump, but some don't at all.
There is no 'master race', it's like you want.

No, you don't have add ons, you could sure as hell do with some to make the game more playable though

I've seen the console UI and it does NOT look more user friendly. The menus look painfully slow to use.
And if the consoles are more user-friendly, why do we hear so many console players upset about the UI missing something that everyone has on the PC through addons?
Plus, the PC will have the option for the console UI in a few weeks.
