The fact that ANY of my loot is being stolen from me by other players is enough to make me unhappy.

    I think we're being trolled.

First he says he does'nt care about losing his Tel Var Stones

Just get them through doing the dailies and don't open the containers until you are safely at a bank. Problem solved.

If a Basketball game turned out to be 1 vs. 20, then yeah... I would walk off the court because playing would be pointless.

Please stop trying to make excuses for this dumb looting mechanic that feeds off the misery of other players. All I'm asking for is an option to turn off MY OWN TOON'S auto-looting of TV stones, an option that already exists for other loot:

    5VmKsH4.jpg

Sorry, just because it's a game, doesn't mean it's fair. Sometimes it will be 20 vs. 1. You know that coming to Imperial City.

Let me make my analogy more simple.

This (IC) is a competitive game. In competition, there are winners and losers.

If you aren't comfortable with other people winning at your expense, that is called being a sore loser. I don't think it's fair for you to completely change the mechanics of a zone because you don't like to lose.

I wish there was a way that players could turn off stones and that this would be information that the potential ganker could see when targeting said player.

Let the games begin. You want to ruin our fun...we will ruin yours.

You deliberately turn off TV stones, then we deliberately turn off you.

See how that wouldn’t work? It becomes no fun for anyone.

I (and many others) would make sure to gank you then, for a couple reasons.

    1. It means you don't want to pvp, aren't setup for it and probably not very experienced. Meaning an easy kill.

    2. It means you're inconvenienced by dying, which makes it even more fun for us.

    3. You wouldn't spoil our fun, pvp is just that, we have fun by killing other players, don't like it? Don't come into cyrodlil.

I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say.
I agree with you. If a player turned off TV stones my little group of gankers would kill that person over and over again until they left.

It is a PvP update and I feel they don’t deserve to be in there PvE'ing and feeling like they have nothing to lose.

    PvP is all about risk.

ah apologies, yes it's a pvp zone, next it'll be "I can't complete quests in cyrodil without getting ganked, turn of xp/ap for anyone killing pve players in a pvp zone"

Let me remind you that pve has

18?19? Zones? Hundreds upon hundreds of quests/delves/dungeons/trials.

Pvp has cyrodil, and now imperial city. That's it.

Every dlc coming out over the next year is pve based, you guys literially have 20x the content with more to come.

So please, leave imperial city alone if you don't pvp, it's a pvp area, if you don't like it just stay away, do the new dungeons, ask a pvp guildie to craft gear if you need it etc.

Ganking is a perfectly acceptable form of combat, honourable? Where's the honour in 40k shield stacking sorcerers that can tank forever in robes? Or someone spamming a ranged skill?

It's a way for us to earn tel var stones? It's a pvp zone, one of the most important ways for us to collect tel var stones is by killing the pve.players!

Nope, that's not what the issue is. I wouldn't care if they gave you 10,000 Tel Var stones for killing me. I just don't want anybody walking off with MY Tel Var stones. You don't see the difference? If they had made Tel Var stone rewards work the same way as AP, I wouldn't be complaining about it.

    I say no way Jose.

Yes,I DO want to deny them, since it isnt really PvP.It's PgankP with no warning or chance to win.Purely one sided for anyone who wants to take your hard earned winnings. So,I do not plan on giving them much for their lame efforts.

No PvPers are wringing their hands together and laughing maniacally while crouched over your body and counting the TV stones they nabbed from you. Okay, THREE are, but we all know who they are and don't invite them to any cool parties.

The thing is, this content is specifically designed to merge PvP and PvE content, with risks and rewards for each. If they provided you and others with a way to opt out of the most basic new PvP mechanic, then it would undermine the design of one of the most critical new rewards systems. I know a lot of people have this perception that PvPers are trashhole social degenerates that thrive on misery and desire others to suffer, but that's just plain bogus. The vast majority of us are here just to play what is essentially an online competitive sport. Sure, for any given fight there is a victor, but it's less some contest for social dominance and more an accepted consequence of doing battle. The real glory is in the playing, not the afterparty.

Throw out the TV stones and PvEers still lose plenty. It takes them much longer to complete the content. Probably means more to many than the stones anyway. Hence the desire to choose to not take any stones.
Let me remind you that pve has 18?19? Zones? Hundreds upon hundreds of quests/delves/dungeons/trials. Pvp has cyrodil, and now imperial city. That's it.
Yeah PvE has more zones but they are the same every time you do them. PvP is more varied, more repeatable. So just counting the zones isn't really a good comparison is it? The game needs more content of all types.
Ganking is a perfectly acceptable form of combat, honourable? Where's the honour in 40k shield stacking sorcerers that can tank forever in robes? Or someone spamming a ranged skill?
If you like shooting fish in barrel go ahead. But IMO a cheap win only deserves a cheap reward. Even with the choice to not hold TV stones, many people will. And gankers would get rewarded for many cheap kills, just not every one.

Then think of it like this: When you die, you simply loose TV. You have no idea how much or who gets YOUR TV. Its not like they stand over your corpse and actually loot it.

Its more like the AP you get when you kill someone. Only difference is, you don't loose AP when you die. Would it be different if they just said:

"When you die, you loose 80% of your Tel Var. When you kill another player, you get a percentage of Tel Var that scales off their carried amount."

Same thing. Different wording. You still loose, they still gain. So... What's the difference?

Also: I agree with the poster above me. Pettiness at its highest. First World problems at their worst. There are more important things to fix in ESO that are actually broken or not up to snuff (Argonian Passives darn it!)

The subtle difference being that you don't want or care about those Tel Var Stones, and therefore have no reason to not want them to have them instead.

A more adequate analogy would be you complaining that someone ate your ration of chips when you don't even like them and weren't going to eat them anyway. Hell, it's even more ridiculous, because you are willing to not gaining them at all just to deny other people the satisfaction of having them.

It's terribly horribly PETTY and I don't undestand how you can't realize it.

lets just pick this one out, but goes for half here, the problem is not the stones, or who actualy gets them, the problem is the behavior this ecourages, running around in a big blob with 30 people detroying everything in your patch have never been more rewarding. instead of making people split up, and have more pvp like battles, its even more trains then before. or gankers. and oke gankers 1v1 is gonna take long with this damage reduces, but if you got 30 people spamming aoe(the new insta deto x30 much fun) there is not much holding you back.

We have been working with the Combat\Classes team for improving Cyrodiil performance while they are also constantly adjusting\analyzing items, abilities and builds. The PVP crew is hard at work on Imperial City while brewing other ideas for Campaigns to give them a different feel and addressing long standing issues like population concerns with the meta-campaign issues of alliance dominance. Obviously there's still more to do for Cyrodiil and PVP as a whole, and both the PVP and Combat\Classes teams are reading the forums and relaying these posts to each other while discussing options. Some of these options are getting more solid and will be up for discussion soon!

    And

    Hey gang!

We wanted to give you all a heads up regarding what the Alliance War (PVP) team is looking into for the future, as well as what we’re currently working on for Cyrodiil. As a general reminder, the Alliance War team is responsible for all things Cyrodiil, the Imperial City, and the Campaign system as a whole, so this post will be centered on those topics.

    ...

Imperial CityThe final piece of the Alliance War “Meta-game” is coming, and will definitely change the landscape and goals of players in Cyrodiil. We are aware of the population waves that this will introduce on a Campaign-by-Campaign basis, and will be closely monitoring this when the Imperial City launches.

    ...
Thanks again and we’ll see you on the battlefield!

    -Wheeler

Imperial City was developed BY the Alliance War team for PVP. Like the delves in Cyrodiil, it has some PVE elements, but, if you expect to spend 10-20 min and never fight a player from another faction, you will likely be sorely disappointed.

Oh, and this DLC does not have any PVE zones. The dungeons/raids, Imperial Prison and White-gold Tower are the only "PVE" elements. VR15/16 crafting materials are only avail via deconning drops from mobs and Rewards from the Worthy PVP mails, or from Tel Var stones, that you get from mobs in the AvA area. TV stones can be partly lost (80% of your stock, if last PTS note proves true) if you die to a player, and he gains them.

Why do you guys care so much if someone doesn't want in on this Game of Stones? I cant believe some of the posts in here.

In all honesty, if IC is supposed to be the place that merges PVE and PVP, it's not very well thought out at all. There is nothing that most PVE players will find attractive about becoming gank bait. The mindset of strict PVE players and PVP players is so completely different I don't know that any game will ever achieve making both camps happy. And I fear in the attempt we shall end up with a game that pleases nobody.

LOL, am I "petty" because I remove the faceplate to my car stereo when I park my car in a bad neighborhood? Am I a bad sport for denying the thieves their hard-earned loot?

The subtle difference being that you don't want or care about those Tel Var Stones, and therefore have no reason to not want them to have them instead.

A more adequate analogy would be you complaining that someone ate your ration of chips when you don't even like them and weren't going to eat them anyway. Hell, it's even more ridiculous, because you are willing to not gaining them at all just to deny other people the satisfaction of having them.

It's terribly horribly PETTY and I don't undestand how you can't realize it. What are you, 8 years old?

lets just pick this one out, but goes for half here, the problem is not the stones, or who actualy gets them, the problem is the behavior this ecourages, running around in a big blob with 30 people detroying everything in your patch have never been more rewarding. instead of making people split up, and have more pvp like battles, its even more trains then before. or gankers. and oke gankers 1v1 is gonna take long with this damage reduces, but if you got 30 people spamming aoe(the new insta deto x30 much fun) there is not much holding you back.

It doesn't encourage anything. Ganking happens with or without Tel var stones. As it has always been in every game with PvP ever.

People get all the satisfaction they need from the cries of those they defeat. Its plain and simple. You really want to stop this behavior? Then pull out of PvP all together. Even then the gankers will just turn on each other. So, this problem will never go away as long as there are players who enjoy that style of gameplay. Just like PvE will never go away.
