I took the liberty of enlarging the rather hypocritical part of that post.
Now, here we all are on page 87.
Again, I took the liberty of enlarging the rather hypocritical parts of his post.
He's "not against text chat"...even though he is against text chat.
He begs not to have to use a controller in one hand and a texting device in the other...even though he is fine if that texting device just happens to be a cellphone.
Let's face it, this dude just keeps changing tactics so people won't call him...um...what are those things that live under bridges?
I can't remember for the life of me.

Not to mention that ZOS said (17 june on reddit) IF they add a "more text centric way to chat" it will not be a straight chat window, so don't waste time arguing about a text box, they might come up with something else anyway.

umm, didn't I just say it would be an option? Didn't I just say you can disable it?
We're not worried about ZOS's habits, from the beginning of this thread, people who asked for text chat have asked for the "option". Never has anybody said this should be something forced upon the whole community like you make it out to be.
And thank you for giving us the definition of selfish, because that sounds exactly like you.

Do you not realize that you're trying to suggest an environment where you believe that adding text chat with an option to disable or minimize it isn't what everyone wants. It's what you want.
Creating another form of cummunication changes the game for everyone whether it's optional or not.
Then you're attempting to couple the term equality as well. Equality doesn't fit in context.
You (and anyone who may also like the option) is fine to have that opinion or preference but understand it's not equality nor does it make everybody happy. To believ that your idea and opinion creates equality and happiness for all is selfish in nature.
I believe what you're trying to suggest is that your idea will make you and a few happy. Don't also assume that your happiness and an added option not to see your option is in any way equality and not actually selfish.
Odly you seem to feel as well as some others that my objections to your opinions are selfish.
It's selfish to push your desires onto others when there is an existing opportunity for you that does not affect others who may not be interested or open to your suggestions or opinions.
Very interesting mindset that you have here...
Equality....does not mean everyone gets their way...that's chaos

He thinks he's some helpful know it all who's opinion matters more than you or I.

OK, @NewBlacksmurf , Please tell me your definition of a guild.
To me, from past mmo eperience, a guild is everything that is important in an mmo.
In this mmo, you can have up to 5 guilds, mines are like this:
1: Main guild, rather small french guild, 80 people or so.
2: French guild, social guild regrouping all the french players we can get. About 415 people.
3: Trade guild
4: Another trade guild. (yeah, I need to have 2 because with that cluncky selling system that only rewards the richest guilds, none of my guilds can afford to have a trader every week.
5: Open, probbly for an endgame guild eventually or a better trade guild.
So basically, I spend all my time in guild #1. I do all my group play with people from guild #1 because if I don't, I have to leave the channel. If I leave the channel, I may miss events or important announcements. That may annoy other people in the guild, because not everyone wants to hear what's going on in your dungeon, but hey, the game doesn't leave me any choice, we can only be in 1 channel at a time.
In my main guild, the one for which I craft gear for free, help others, get help for myself, chat with friends and create bonds, there is generally 20-25 people online most of the time, but for some reason, there is always only 5-6 max on the guild channel. How is this supposed to be OK? How can not being able to communicate with more than 20% of the current connected guildmates a good thing?
Give me just a way to solve this with the current voice chat system, just one.
You (was it you? i'm not sure) made an analogy saying we wanted to go back to payphones while we have cellphones, but your analogy goes completely backwards:
Payphone: talk only
Cellphones: talk, text, use better tools to organise events (facebook and such)...
About ESRB: If something can be said via text, it can be said via microphone, and so it cannot change the ESRB (which, if i'm right, is aleready M-rated anyways.)

Haha, your logic just proves that destiny is/was not fine with it... Why are people so blind.. Clearly if they had to adapt to something like that something is wrong? no?
And also, Destiny is a completely different type of game... why are people comparing this?
Its like saying CoD is fine without chat, and that works.... /facepalm
Different types of games....

Destiny is a Pseudo MMO, I call it an MMO-light. They have Raids, Weekly's and things similar to MMO's, they have a hub world (which sucks) that lets you interact (very poorly) with other people and talk to NPC's. up to 17 or 16 people per hub wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
There was no LFG system for weekly Raids so people are still suck going out of the game (which was one of the biggest criticisms with the lore and story extras) and going into a web browser and look for a group. Which should of NEVER been the case, there are much easier ways to deal with this, Text Chat, have a list of LFG people to choose from etc... but among many other BS, I'm still so amazed how easily people back Bungies bad design decisions probably cause of all those Halo fanboys.
People have SOLVED these LFG systems years ago FFXI had an easy and simple LFG system, it's amazing how developers still mess this up.
Strontium-Dog wrote: »Wowowow lol. It matters NOT what type of game it is but the platform. Communicating with others doesnt change depending on game type. SO yes comparing the fact that in Destiny we learned to use 4,yes FOUR, emotes to communicate means that in ESO it is easy as pie to communicate.
We have voice channels, masses of emotes, guild channels , ingame mail, etc. While it might seem like text chat is needed its more of a want than a need.
Id like it sure, enter cryodiil, in chat , lfg, etc and off we go. But im in guilds, have *friends* and rarely spend that long finding where the fight is.
Text chat wont stop the kids playing rap or idiots eating doritos with open mic. Id rather have a mute option than chat channels right now.
And ESO wont flop because we want text chat. There are far more worrying issues like cold harbour siege stuff and the terribly broken audio ( im talking console not pc) Id STILL rather have fixes before text chat.

Entering text on Xbox is clunky as all hell, and I realize that that's the best they can do. It takes easily five times longer (possibly even more, I haven't actually timed myself) to enter a screen name or password on Xbox compared to PC. Text chat conversations need to be quick and easy, and that's just not very doable on a console. Also, because you can't easily resize and relocate UI elements like you could on a PC, you're running the risk of the chat box being either too big and obtrusive, or so small that you can't read the text, neither of which will make it useful.
Now, let me make it clear, I'm NOT against text chat. I just don't find the concept of it to be practical on a console.
