Do you plan on purchasing Motifs from the Crown Store?

  • BrassRazoo

Yes, I plan on buying both rare and common motifs.
I have all except Dwemer on my main.
I think I have some minor races scattered on my seven alts.
If I need them on my alts one day you can guarantee I will not be buying them anywhere else but the Crown Store.
I am not travelling to endless Guild Stores or spamming zone or waiting for zone spam and then paying postage or travelling to a seller and dragging and dropping crap.

Look in Crown Store, buy, read, done. Thank you.

I am not going to support em with that bullcrap. And neither should you. Or we get more and more of this later. Now motifs, then yellow crafting boosters, then gearsets etc etc. We should say no right when it starts to develop in this bad bad way.

    Totally agree.

Unfortunately there is a section of the player base who want this crap, which is why devs keep switching games to F2P. Those players who clearly don't give a toss about the consequences of waving their plastic at stuff like this.

A game doesn't need to be F2P to offer cosmetics. WOW has an ingame shop since I believe WOTLK + specific pet sales since Vanilla. It did fine for 10 full years and just recently went F2P in NA.

That ESO went F2P has other reasons, one for sure is the harassment that pvp, RP and solo gamers had to endure from the hardcore raiders. ESO never felt like home for the once intended crowd so they left and raiders alone can not finance an MMO even if they always say they could. So blaming those who buy such cosmetics is definitely the wrong way, its as always the hardcores who don't tolerate other gamers in "their" games.

Nah. If you could buy them cheaper or if they came with a handful of mats then maybe but it's too much to ask for just the motif.

Why are people opposed to something that offers others options?

It's a lot of elitist against the crown store. A lot of elitist for the prior sub and against removing the sub....

It's time for me to move to console
You don't seem to have entirely understood the poll question. It's asking if you personally plan on buying the motifs. A "No" vote doesn't imply any opposition to having the motifs available in the crown store, let alone elitism. It just means that you, the voter, won't be buying them. There are lots of possible reasons for that. My own reasons, aside from the fact that both of my crafters already have all of the motifs (well, my medium armour crafter doesn't have Imperial, but she doesn't really need it either, as I can always convert to Imperial), is that I'd rather buy motifs with gold than with crowns. Doesn't mean I have any problem with giving people the option of getting them from the crown store.

They cost too much. The common ones Ill just buy with gold. The dwemer one Ill earn before i pay $40 for it. I already have a couple imperial motifs on my crafters so no need for that.

There are no "hardcore raiders" in ESO, as there is no hardcore raiding content here to be had in the first place.

No, because everyone who is playing doomsayer and crying out that this is the end of ESO... they ARE pessimistic. Just a fact. They are taking every little addition to the game as p2w and are freaking out.

How about just... seeing what happens. Doubt it will be as bad as you think.

Either way, things aren't going to change. I will bet money on that, regardless of all the doomsaying and complaints. People will leave, and 20 more that don't care will replace them.

I, for one, will continue to enjoy the game, ragardless of the changes. Because I still find it fun, and I'm not going to let something this insignificant ruin my enjoyment.

    YES - stop labeling people.

AGAIN - just because people are saying they do not approve of this move does not make them pessimistic. It means they do not approve of the move for reasons other than yours. END of story. Constantly labeling people as this or that is what drives the community into the ground. Stop it.

The hunter-gathered buried deep in my DNA enjoys finding things on his own. I don't even have the Skyshard addon! Heck, deciphering those Skyshard clues in the Achievement Journal is one of the only puzzles in the game. But if other people want to spend real life money on cosmetic items that require no skill to obtain (just grinding/farming/luck), I am not going to get upset over it.

Yes, I plan on buying both rare and common motifs.
I plan on buying whatever I wish, whenever I wish. I also subscribe to the game.

You don't want to buy it? Then don't. You're not forced to participate just because it's being offered.

Do I wish they'd release more content? Sure. I also understand they are a business, and like any good business they're here to make money. They're not philanthropists.

If people aren't going to subscribe then they need to make cash somehow, and it can only be good for them to afford to expand content offerings in the future.

I say keep it coming with the choices, and thanks ZOS!
TL;DR - If you got this far without reading the entire post you're either too lazy or suck at reading comprehension and probably don't belong in a public forum anyway. Just move along, you wouldn't understand.

No, Im not against it but personally I am only missing the Imperial and it costs a lot of gold for only giving me an achieve (I have Imp. Ed.) and the Crown store costs a lot as well so I can't justify either. If I still needed the lower motifs I might consider it.

Not currently, simply because I already know all the Motifs except Imperial and Dwemer (and Imperial would be a bit pointless since I can convert anything to Imperial style anyways).

If they ever released new motifs in the future, possibly.

I might. If zenimax ever institutes anything in my sig, I might just spend money on the game again.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

Having Motifs in crown store in my opinion is borderline pay to win as there is no crafting requirements to learn them, and a bit of a slap in the face to all who have spent the time to find them and level crafting skill to be able to learn them. The other comments about nerfing drop rates is a worry too, hope they are not that shallow and greedy to adjust game for their profits.

    Yes, but only rare motifs.
I have been playing since November and have searched and looted a LOT in towns and delves. In that time I have found four purple motifs... And two of them were the same. At this rate, I'll be still looking in two or three years time with crossed fingers for the rest. I guess I just have real lousy luck when it comes to finding decent loot... But now I can relax and stop wondering when if ever I will get all of them.

The presence of the motifs in the crown store might explain why have only found one motif since the justice system was introduced... Before that I found at least the common motifs much more regularly.

Imperial and Dwemer cost 5000 Crowns, that's like 40 dollars! You'd have to be insane.

And it is not insane for an Imperial motif to sell for 90-100 000 gold in-game?

I'm personally opposed because this is generally the first step to a very bad store.. They do still have a subscription and at least yes I get that allowance (and hopefully those don't change), but putting stuff like this in store, has always lead to worse items in the store in other MMOs I've played.. I recently left Trion because of it, I was refreshed on how ESO was handling theirs, but this honestly worries me.. so does anything limited. They are cash grabs... and it makes a company get greedy EVERY TIME.. end of story.

Personally, I think these are a worthwhile thing to spend the crowns that come with subscription on...dont know that I will be buying crowns just for this...but rare motifs make a much better customer reward that a pet that doesn't actually do anything.

But why would you guys care if someone would prefer to spend some dollars rather than blow 200000 or more buying them all in guildstores? Its their money.

If I weren't poor and didn't have any of them, I might be tempted to pick up the rare ones that I liked.
