Incoming Cyrodiil Vet Rank Change and more

    XP for killing players has increased by 50% and we have increased the amount of XP you gain from various quests in Cyrodiil that were not already giving the highest XP reward possible.

    Great news and good job making those changes. But I would like to point out that players healing in PvP right now aren't getting much exp from player kills.

    Right now I have to stop healing and do actual dmg to enemy players, to get the credit that awards exp. Only healing and supporting my group while they're fighting isn't enough, than I only get AP when enemies die. Feels a bit problematic that I have to choose between saving my allies or getting my exp lol.

    The exp increase is awesome for sure, but still 50% I'll be missing out on if I'm playing my healer.

    When I started reading this, I was like "well, non-vets are screwed" but its nice battle levels will be adjusted accordingly.

    Sadly, tonight on Chillrend, I came to a realization. No matter how many of these changes are made, they wont help any if the zone is unplayable by most people.

    I have a decently well-geared gaming machine. However, on Chill, after all three factions pop-locked:

    1.) This is a scene from Alessia farm with AD attacking and EP defending:

    A ping rate of 412, with another group member reporting ping of 999. I actually took the shot because the screen showed even more DK standards than actually are in that shot. It looked like 10-12. Right afterthe shot, our raid, in TS, lost the ability to use any skills at all, until finally the game caught up, including one heck of a meteor shower, and the AD wiped. Personally, I finally went down to 112 ping. My normal is 60. Playing like this is.. hard, enjoying it...pretty much impossible.

    2.) A few min later, we were trying to keep a seige on Alessia wall. I set a ballista up in the farm tower, but never got an E to get into it. The lag was so bad, it rotted from 75% to zero without me getting to use it.

    3.) We finally got tired of the lag and headed to Faregyl. Here, I set up a ballista, nose into the door and fired point blank. I was able to count to 20 each time, before the bolt hit the door. Mind you, POINT BLANK. Then, it got worse, going up to between 25 and 30.

    4.) Which reminds me.. earlier in the night, I was defending Chal, when, for no reason whatsoever, I was could only walk. I dont even have a key to make me walk according to the keybinds, so it wasnt me. I could only even walk on my horse. I finally just logged to char select and back, which fixed it.

    5.) To add insult to injury, as I was wayshrining out of Cyrodiil to Eldon Root, I Alt+Tabbed over to change TS channels to my PVE guild. Instead, I got a pretty white pop-up box. Game had crashed.

    Unfortunately, no matter how many of the Quality of Life improvements you make, players still need to be able to play.

    This is a great announcement @ZOS_BrianWheeler ! Adding materials and appropriately leveled mobs to gain exp from is great. Any chance you are going to revise the quests in Cyrodil? Cyrodil actually gives me the feeling that I have had in many Elder Scrolls games I have played before because there is no main quest line and it is always cool to see what you encounter randomly in the zone, like a person who is having trouble with their horse, a weird picnic on a hill, a strange bag of something that starts a quest. Of course, balancing any new PvE additions with PvP performance is still a top priority.

    50% more xp from killing players is a start, but i doubt it will be even remotely enough to put PvP on equal footing with questing and grinding ( before the spot in question is nerfed ). 200% increase would probably put it closer ( and look into the xp for healing in PvP issue please ).

    If excessive farming by certain playstyles is a concern, just up the required xp for CP beyond the intended daily amount steeply. That would allow for more appropriate xp gains in other areas of the game as well, say dungeons and trials.

    My God...first the siege damage, now the XP.

    IF @ZOS_BrianWheeler is able to remove the games knee buckling lag, I do think he will be THE most loved person at ZoS from a customer perspective.

    Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.
    Werewolf is not equal to Vamps/Bats.

    Yes I would like to see something done about healing and xp gains too. We need the players who keep us alive to get the same xp gains as the rest of us who slaughter.

    Wow. Just wow. If all this happens and the insane lags go away and smaller scale PvP comes along (Imperial City?), this might really be the next long term game for me.

    In an effort to give Cyrodiil more XP for players of all levels, all monsters and guards in Cyrodiil will now be Veteran Rank 12. Their health and damage have been adjusted to keep their same difficulty\challenge as they currently are at Rank 5. We are currently putting this through internal testing for vets and non vets.

    Battle leveling stats has been increased to roughly a Veteran Rank 12 character with even distribution between stat picks and in moderate gear. This is also being tested with the above change to Cyrodiil being Vet 12.

    XP for killing players has increased by 50% and we have increased the amount of XP you gain from various quests in Cyrodiil that were not already giving the highest XP reward possible.

    We are currently looking at the values of monster XP in Cyrodiil vs. other Veteran Rank zones.



    Like the siege damage changes, these will also skip PTS and hit live in a patch forthcoming in the next week (hopefully), so feedback here is appreciated for these changes.

    This is a terrible idea, there are already players who exploit millions of AP and now you are going to give them CP as well... very bad idea.

    Brian , I have moaned about you in the past and the lack of communication but I have to say I really appreciate you coming on with all this new info...Thank you!

    I have a couple of suggestions...as a player who plays PvP constantly my main concern and yours by your comments is the performance so I am leaving that to you as without that improvement PvP will die.

    As a PvPer I don't particularly want to FORCED to to dailies in PvE to get gear sets that are Bound and cannot be bought like the PvEers can offer to buy any set from PvP at the moment . Could we get those sets in perhaps a way such as getting a token once per day from earning AP or some other PvP target . We then swap the token for the same RNG chance of the PvE drops.

    Another one is....Is there any chance that target dummies could be something thought about in future so that we can test damage with tweeks etc .

    Finally please keep us updated about the camps as I think they are needed in the form you have talked about to change the way that cyrodiil has gone at the moment.

    First, it's about time. I honestly can't understand the logic behind keeping the xp imbalance the way it was for so long. This should have been an easy and quick fix put in place almost a year ago. Going off of the reactions in this thread, why wouldn't you have wanted to do this earlier? Thanks for finally getting this back on track.

    Second, while it's certainly a step in the right direction, and while I'll wait after a few days of pvping to see how much pvp quest xp bump is, 50% more player kill xp probably isn't going to be enough. I'm still a few shy of having the 30 CP traits in constellations because I did hardly any grinding for it in pve, but if I compare the xp rate I get in cyrodiil against what I could get in pve relatively easily, multiplying the pvp rate by about 1.5x still leaves it far behind.

    Third, I wonder how this will play out across the pvp group sizes and zerging tactics. Right now you typically get the most AP being in a giant zergball that lags out the server, and I'd assume it's the same for XP. When you tie max XP for CPs and max AP gain to being in large groups, I worry this will only encourage zerging, encourage lagging, and let's face it - when there's the kind of lag you see on Thornblade, no one is dying any time soon, so your xp rate stinks. I wonder if ZOS needs to start trying to balance out the gains across group sizes, where if you're in a gigantic group you start to see a slightly smaller AP and XP return than you presently get, and smaller groups start to see a slightly larger AP and XP return.

    When I look at the EP leaderboards last month in NA and they're rolling 2-3 times the AP as other alliances, that will end up translating to pvp XP as well, and I think a super majority of players would agree that the EP zerg style of play is not something that should be encouraged.

    There are two bugs just driving me bat nuts bonkers in pvp right now.

    1. Cursor bug
    When ever you open you map and close it you are in cursor mode and have to hit "." before you can do anything. Once it starts, which seems to be in groups, it's there the until you log out.

    2. Chevron and indicators bug.
    No group chevrons display or even enemy alliance indicators. Once you got the bug you are stuck with it until you close out the client. When you come back on you will have chevrons until you open your map and when you close it they are all gone again. I have had to quit 5 times to get it to finally stop. I go through this every time I get off work and try to start pvping.

    I am sure you already know about them, just letting you know how crazy it's making us.
