IS ESO DYING?

I wanted to bring this topic up. I started a thread like this on tamrielfoundry but it reached the post cap ( http://tamrielfoundry.com/topic/is-eso-dying-how-can-we-save-it/ ) Several months ago and wanted to know if people think the game is dying or not.

I mean, it's pretty obvious that ESO had poor reviews, the vast majority of people that played the game in beta/launch quit and said it sucks, and some people just didn't like the game. I can't help but notice on the NA servers that zones feel less populated, PvP is slower, etc. I feel like people are getting upset and starting wishlists, "I want threads", and nerf this buff that/fix this fix that threads non stop. While I agree on fixing/buffing/nerfing(meh) things some of these come out rude and threaten to unsubscribe. I think people have not judged the game properly or are trying to take ZOS as a new company for advantage almost. The population has been decreasing I feel like (Not sure on exact #s).

I think ESO will eventaully have to change buissness models and make it buy to play and buy expansions. I'm PRO sub fees but I think another business model would appeal to a wider range of players and have some sort of Free 5 day trial thing to make it more appealing on console. I DO NOT think it is dying right now, I see more and more people saying they will unsub but also people coming back or taking interest to the game. But I think a different buisness model would appeal to a wider range of people. I just think we should discuss this and if people think it is or not. I don't think ESO is dying but I don't think it is in the safe zone either. What do you think?

There's already a lot of returning players. Still have console release to go. So no it's not dying. It's not growing super fast but it is growing. If after console release they have less than 300,000 players than yes they will have to change the business model. I don't see that happening.

The beginner zones are always crowded, but I don't know if its new players, or just veteran players creating new toons. The veteran areas are really scarce especially in the last two zones of Cadwell's silver and gold. I had to do most of the bosses, dolemans, and public dungeons solo which really sucked sometimes.

I hope this isn't the case, if it is I don't know why. I'm surprised this game isn't capturing more people's attention, but this is the first MMO I've played so my viewpoint is necessarily narrow.

I'd love Cyrodil to be more populated and I have noticed that the vet level zones are pretty empty compared to the low level zones. I wish ZOS would throw us a bone and give us a fair estimate how many subscribers there are. Why? I'm curious and I want this game to succeed and not become "free" to play or die from lack of interest.

this is the worse time of year to decide if a game is lossing ppl or not. It is Christmas Holidays so most people are with family or spending money on gifts, ect. If at any time of year you're not going to renew a sub xmas would be one of those times. ....give it a month and then make a decision.

I currently am working on getting an AD character to max vet level and I'm spending most of my time doing Cadwell's Gold zones. I see more players in AD's gold zones now than I used to see when my first character reached EP's gold zones last June or so.

The game is not dying IMHO.

I don't feel it's , sure some vet zones seem dead, but that's because people mostly have done all the quest and the rest is grinding. Spellscar has some players :)

There's something we all can do to prevent players leaving.. Indeed, they leave because there's nothing to do. But I don't think it's because the game lacks content. Not at all, there's plenty of things to do in PvE and cyrodiil used to be fun.. The problem is new players and not very sociable players can't find groups to do group content. There're lots of guilds, but guilds that actually do something are either elitist or have cliques of elitists that have their own SO group, few vet dsa groups and they only play with each other.
We all need to be more open and help other players, play with each other, make sure other people have fun as well. Then, they won't leave. They will log on again and again because of awesome and friendly community. And the game? The game is slowly growing, they release some content, there're some challenging dungeons - just no one to go there with.

Regarding PvP... Idk, it's just not that attractive for non-pvpers. It used to be a lot of fun with all those massive battles, but now.. Idk, if a player knows nothing about PvP and just makes a build that makes sense intuitively, he will be oneshotted and will have to ride his horse back... and will spend more time riding the horse than actually PvPing. They need to attract more people somehow, but I don't see how.

Regarding PvE, everything is good and only depends on us, players. That's how I see it at least.
    Thanks for reading :)

This happens in every game. It's just human nature and player psychology type. It won't change. Some people play to explore and some to be better than others, etc.

I would thought the VR zones would be even more dead because more people are doing dungeons leaving less time doing the zones.
The low level zones are well populated.
Cyrodil probably also take an hit from this and the lag issues.

No i do not think so.

People always yell up about how crap a game is when it come out and some will always say its dying and bla.. bla.. bla.. Whiner as always.

The game is still here and its not F2P and there is still alot of players ingame when im on.

Also the consol versin will soon come out and get even more players.
And look at alot of older mmo that got even more flag. they still live. with a smaller player base and still run fine.

l don't understand why the people always talk about a "death game". Everyone of you know that the hype of the beginning is over. And the most of us reached the max level, so It's normal, that the lower zones are less populated. And yes, there are some bugs in the game.

l think the most people are really impatient. Bugs should always be fixed in one minute in their opinion, but they forget that ZOS works hard for their game and some problems or bugs cannot be solved instantly unless the source of the problem is known.

The most players are jumpers: They jump from one game to the other. And now you say "ESO is dying". I don't think that's true.

And of course: ESO will raise up like a phoenix after the release-hype with the console version, the thieves-guild, the justice-system, the dark brotherhood, the housing.

Just for a mmo don't have over 5 - 10million player world wide don't mean a game is dying in my experience just for a game have 5 to 10 million player don't always mean you get a good gaming experience most of time it is always other way around to be honest.

For it most of time alot of assshold you will meet in game like that which think the are god answer to game for the think know everything about everything. Just for you don't see other player don't always mean the are no people around it is just mean the many not be in same phase of the zone or even in same zone as you are playing.

Trust me i think we will see more people come back to ESO as soon as WoD fever settle down i know already people get tried of WoD and there 1st raid have not yet open it will open today (Wednesday 2014-12-11) that people me that WoD will yet again be just other boring grinder party for WoW.

And those people have been hardcore WoW player years but the are think to start play ESO for the trun max lvl after just few day after release WoW late expansion that tell me that something is very wrong with mmo if take less then 2 week to get max lvl in new expansion.

Made worse in this game as you can join 5 guilds, thus making the connection to the guild that thin that its meaningless.
Just have to do it to sell junk on the crappy guild stores because apparently no solo player is clever enough to have a vendor to sell there wares...

Lesson to Zenimax....you join ONE guild and if it suits you it becomes almost family and ties are made that bring you back each day.
You join FIVE guilds and its, 'meh which one today...oh I cant be bothered'. No loyalty.
It's not rocket science ;) I really think most of the bosses there have never even seen an MMO let alone played one.

This game is just like any other PC game that releases per the marketing schedule, despite how far along the actual development is. We have been playing a beta since launch. For someone like me, that has been playing Elder Scrolls games for over a decade, it hasn't died at all... rather it has not yet matured. There are some upcoming elements that will breathe new life into the game (e.g. justice system & spell crafting). I haven't been playing in over a month but I still have my 6 month sub active and I am confident the game will mature into the game most of us want in the long run. Let's just hope that is sooner rather than later. The game isn't dying... rather the hopes of MMO players that are just looking for the next big thing are for now. This game is clearly gonna take a lot of time to become a polished entry in the Elder Scrolls franchise.

Recently when I started a new character again and got to see the beginner zones again, I could tell by the dyes and armor which is a new player and which is a veteran ;-) Or by the horse they're riding.
I'd say it's about 50/50, new/veteran, but I could be wrong, of course.

And yes, it's pretty empty in the higher vet zones, even in the lower, actually. I had to solo most of these things, too. I kinda got used to it, but certain things I just had to leave out because they're simply not soloable.

But I don't think the game is dying, it feels as crowed (or not, depends where you are) as it always did.

If the game is dying, someone should tell ZOS, becuase they keep developing new content for it.

I'm one of those people from beta who has experienced all the growing pains. Still here, still having fun.
