New 2-piece sets and undaunted chests

Update:

Still not a single Blood Spawn shoulder (light, medium or heavy) since i started doing Gold Key Daily's at Undaunted Pledge release.

Not a single Shoulder piece from Gold Key Chest so far in 2015.

This system is crap. At the moment it seems ill never get to try a single Undaunted Set i like pre-1.6, and with my LUCK (only 1 character to do Pledges) i will most likely never get to try a single one ever before they are "out dated".

Some of us without a single complete set are surrounded by people with multiple sets. This is fine, however some of the people i know with 2-3+ sets have completed half the Gold Key Daily's i have...

While others have done about four times as many Gold Key runs I've done (with alts) and still got nothing to show for.

This just seems off... very, very off...

I think calling these two sets OP might be a stretch. The fact these are 2 worth having versus the others you don't see used outside of PvP indicates the other sets should be improved. Malubeth is okay as is I think, and I can see that Blood Spawn WILL be OP with 1.6 but currently it just helps non-DK tanks stay on par with Ulti use.

They are extremely overpowered. ZOS' intention is that no set be considered a "requirement" for any role, these sets are essential for DKs and Sorcs respectively in PvP.

Nope. Run #30 just trolled me and gave me an Embershield Helm instead.

EDIT: Run #31, nothing. My healer who has done ~18 runs has 3 Valkyn helms.
EDIT: Run #33, nothing. One of my DPS just deconstructed a medium Valkyn Helmet duplicate.
EDIT: Run #34, hardmode speed run 21 minutes no deaths no helm.

Run #35, nothing.
Run #36, nothing.

At run #40 now, still nothing.

I'm somewhere around 40 keys and have similar results. The one odd thing is I keep getting Scourge Harvester Shoulders over and over again. I have 5 of them now. Otherwise I have these results for Shoulders:

Scourge Harvester = 5 (you name it, I have it)
Engine Guardian = 1 (Light - Reinforced)
Maw of the Infernal = 1 (useless Medium)
Spawn of Mephala = 1 (useless Medium)

That's it. I've farmed Helms so many times I pretty much don't care anymore and I still only have 2 completed sets, EG and Scourge Harvester. My EG Helm is Heavy - Impenetrable which I use for Healing even though it's Heavy.

Done 112 gold keys (doing it with 2 characters). Still no light version of Valkin Skoria shoulders

Ok... 114 gold keys now and...
Todays Darkshade cavern's pledge bring me surprise.
Spend quite alot of time trying to farm that Automaton helmet and never had any drop at all. Neither helmet from boss, nor Shoulder from chest. I just gave up on that and stick with Gargoly and Malubeth sets.

And now i got Heavy Infused Helmet from Boss while simply doing daily pledge.
Got Heavy Devine Shoulder from chest right after that run for the key i got as reward.

RNG is so RNG.

Is it in your opionion still worth trying to get a valkyn helm? I got the shoulders last week and i am starting to think with 1.6 coming i might as well let go of the idea of using it on my dk. I have limited time and was going to try and devote all my spare time running CoA, but is it is useless in 4 weeks what is the point?

What is your opinion on this? I would appreciate to hear your opinion.

I feel that Engine Guardian, Valkyn Skoria and Bloodspawn are all essential sets. As a DK, you can probably go without Engine Guardian but Valkyn Skoria and Bloodspawn are very strong sets.

If you plan only to PvE with them, then there are better choices. For PvP, Bloodspawn will become essential, and Valkyn Skoria will become situationally effective.

Conversely, Engine Guardian is essential for Sorcerers, and Bloodspawn will become a strong contender. Malubeth is effective for solo/small-group PvP and dueling (although some duelists ban the set).

I personally want the Valkyn Skoria set for testing heavy-damage builds in which the additional burst will help. They are also increasing the duration of Wall of Elements in 1.6, which means it will be more effective as a supplemental DPS skill, and will proc the meteor.

im in the same boat....it took me hundreds and hundreds of trials runs to get a two snake neck....and i havent got a single shoulder ever from dailies...and only one helm ever. The rng in this game is awful. its gotten to the point that i only log in when the daily flips...do the daily...dont get a shoulder and log out. This needs to change very very soon

I am farming the head now for 3 weeks, did more than 100 runs in CoA, 4-5 runs/day, on weekends even more... and got NO head!

This is just ridiculous...

Almost in all runs somebody from the group got the head with random traits, but me NOT... I saw so many times infused, reinforced from group members, but I go NO head...

Created a ticket to ask if is something bugged on my char/account, but no answer yet...

I have had a very similar experience.

53 runs in Fungal Grotto, no Mephala helm (group mates always find it though). All shoulders collected, except Mephala.

Guess what is the only set I'd actually want to use.

There is something wrong very, very wrong with this loot system, and it is causing incredible amounts of frustration.

Perhaps a Token system for Undaunted & a Need/Greed system for Trials could be considered?

Guys, more than 150 CoA runs and finally got my Light armor head and with Infused trait.

During all the runs, i looted Valkyn head 2 times. First time Medium and Impenetrable (useless in PvE, especially after 1.6), second time the mentioned light and infused.

Wow, I'm approaching 30 runs with nothing, getting really disenchanted, i ain't got the time or group to run 150 times, that's appalling

I have used like 60 keys and got 0 infernal guardian shoulders. Much less the wrong kind. This is a horrible way to do gear. Almost as horrible as the merchant system. At least make them cycle through the sets.....
