This. I don't want a gear token system and this way would work perfectly. You must loot one of the Heads/Shoulders to be capable of exchanging it for a more favorable weight/trait.What's absolutely needed, dare I be so bold to say it.
Is an undaunted quartermaster that has a great impact in the world.
How?
Undaunted item-exchange - change your medium armor EXPLORATION trait chest or head piece for a Heavy armor reinforced or a different armor type with a trait of your choosing!
So you still have to acquire an item in order to trade it for something you want, which is a compromise if it's too much effort for a currency system but would also be great to go alongside an Undaunted currency system. As it stands now, I heavily dislike it, It's nonsense. I'm sure the Undaunted would gladly let me exchange my "useless" [subjective] item for one that will be more useful, they can then save my item for someone who will make better use of the item. They're supposed to have an armoury after all.
Still might take those of us hated by rng gods a while though=/This. I don't want a gear token system and this way would work perfectly. You must loot one of the Heads/Shoulders to be capable of exchanging it for a more favorable weight/trait.What's absolutely needed, dare I be so bold to say it.

For sure and I'm one of those with a terrible relationship with RNG but I like that idea better than gear tokens. Personally I thing every Gold key should have a substantially higher chance at a Shoulder drop since you had to do hard mode just to get said key. Then keep Silver key the same loot rate as now and maybe even lower Bronze key's chance (it might already be lower or none, I don't know for sure). ZoS should also put a character tracked scaling increase of 1% per loot for said items like the Heads. If the drop rate is 1% then the 2nd time you loot that boss it's 2%, etc and once you loot the Head it resets to 1%.Still might take those of us hated by rng gods a while though=/
At this point I'd agree for exploration heavy helmet, really(was mostly gonna try to tank in it so heavy'll do).
I'm at 22 City of Ash clears with no helm drop at all.
EDIT: 24, nothing.

Nope. Run #30 just trolled me and gave me an Embershield Helm instead.
EDIT: Run #31, nothing. My healer who has done ~18 runs has 3 Valkyn helms.
EDIT: Run #33, nothing. One of my DPS just deconstructed a medium Valkyn Helmet duplicate.
EDIT: Run #34, hardmode speed run 21 minutes no deaths no helm.

@Tripwyr
Can you try running a different role?
So everyone else in the group is getting a helm drop but not the tank? The anti farming code which makes less chance of loot dropping if you do less damage/heals, I hope that does not apply to 4 man instance runs, cause they would *** off tanks.

Don't think it matters on role. Sounds like you just finally got lucky:)Azarath_tiberius wrote: »The_Sadist wrote: »

Wow.. I think I am with you in this. I've done at least 40 runs of CoA, completed every single achievement and I got the helmet once, Medium with Well-fitted. Let me repeat that.. Medium. With Well-fitted..
My guild mates got all the achievements as well so I'll just take a huge break from that dungeon..
Also, funny side note. I was farming Wayrest sewers for the Malubeth helmet (thank god we just needed to kill the 1st boss..) and I had my usual streak of no helmets until a guild mate told me to switch from tanking to healing.
I got that helmet with the first run I was healing...
If it would take 15 days then it should be the absolute Shoulder of choice including Trait. Consider that many players have at least 3 Roles they run regularly, add PvP then that's 4 or more. It means that on a 15 day cycle it'd take 2 months to get the 4 Shoulders that a single character (of 8) on an account needs, which still doesn't account for bad RNG with the Helms. That's still a stupid system and yet another MMO with a long gear grind just to keep people subbing. I'd rather quality content keep me subbing than a method that almost forces you to keep grinding the same thing over and over for that rare chance you just might get what you've wanted all along. Your solution doesn't solve anything sorry to say.s7732425ub17_ESO wrote: »What's really funny is that this issue is EASILY fixable.
Tokens = gold keys. You can choose to use 1 gold key and open a Gold Undaunted Chest, OR you can save up 15 gold keys and choose a shoulder or helmet piece of your choice (random trait, but get to pick light/med/heavy).
All ZOS has to do is add a vendor for the gear (simple to do) and make gold keys stackable (simple to do). Done. Problem solved. You can still grind for the helm. If your RNG sucks horribly, you can buy the helm or shoulders after 2 weeks (or less time if you run multiple characters each day).
The helms have random traits but it appears only some have a random change of being light\med\heavy. It appears some are always one type.
