My next question is... And I could end up eating my own words here... How many of y'all disappointed with the system shared constructive feedback on the PTS forums?

I haven't done any digging but was there any discussion there in regards to the implementation?

We fought very vocally for PTS access. The system has been on test for quite a while. I would hate to think that those disappointed with the system didn't test and share feedback when the opportunity was there.

I absolutely love the dye update, my main had so many colors to choose from that I have no desire to go and get more achievs just for the dye., and I havent even begun vet level acheivs. My alts are limited but that only makes me want to play them again to get some colors.

I found the interface at first confusing but within a few minutes was easily going thru all the options, I guess being familiar with other games that use primary, secondary color dye options made it easier for me to get. This is the first game I have played that did a 3rd option.

I now for the first time in game have a gorgeous matching armor and cant wait to change my colors on a whim

so thank you very much devs

They really should have balanced the rare ones between PvP/Craiglorn and PvE events! I cannot stand PvP or Craiglorn and it stinks that people who feel likewise will be punished for that! Don't really feel like camping in Cyrodill until a battle starts or trying to quest solo which is impossible and not going to mold into the light armor Destro staff crowd of trials.

I don't understand all of the complaining about dyes. They are completely optional. Sure, your character may not look exactly like you want it to, but does that make any difference in how effective it is in PVE or PVP? I don't think so. People need to get over the entitlement mentality.

I for one love the fact that dyes are achievement-based. One more reason to put my completionism OCD at work. The only downside I can see is that you can't sell dyed gear.

this new system ruined a beautiful set of armor. Instead of my black and copper look I am now stuck with some red and purple garbage. I have no issue with them adding the dying system in but they should have left the current colors for the armor and then let you change them if you wished.

I'm totally fine with the achievement based setup myself, I'm glad they are account wide though.

I think that there are enough colors that if you just have played the game and done most of the questing you'll have plenty of choices to make changes. Only specific hues will be harder for some to get if they don't play certain areas, but they will be able to find something close. I have probably 80% already unlocked and haven't specifically hunted down achievements to do so, so it shouldn't be too bad to get a few more - though I don't find that I'll need them.

My only negative is the limit to what we can dye:

No shields is a big bummer for me - you can make this big custom colored set of heavy armor and then carry a big shield that doesn't match at all.

I'm also aware of their hesitation on weapons, but weapons as they are don't work well. My quivers on my bows looked much worse after today's patch and much like shields, are just this big thing on my back that now do not match my gear. One of my alts has a two hander that has an almost pinkish blade on it - so I don't get the ZoS comments about not wanting weapon dye b/c of weird weapon colors - that sword looks stupid.

I think they should add, when they can, the option to dye quivers and shields and then perhaps have a tinting option with an assortment of metallic colors for weapons.

The achievement part will definitely put a lot of pvp based colours off limits for me and some that are based on running group content.

Otherwise, I have to say that I absolutely love that it's free and you can change it as often as you like.

Also love the way you can set up some presets. That way I don't have to go totally out of my way when some armour styles don't quite match because once the colour is adjusted, it doesn't show anymore. I know, some people don't care about the matching bit but for us with OCD it's a sweet little perk to have.

right because pvpers should have to do craglorn for half their dyes, because those are the things you don't like.

I am glad its achievement based gives me something to freaking Earn

the problem is the majority of all of it is PVP or solo stuff . there are two achieves that give dye in all the Vr dungeons??? same with trials.

Achievement hunting is actually pretty fun. More fun that raid dungeon gear chases that's for sure.
As for as dungeon chasing there is absolutely nothing of value in any of those dungeons. You can stand in front of a crafting station for 90 seconds and have a set of the best gear in game. This game should have never been an MMO with its Design at least not a theme park one. it would have been better suited as a Sand box.

Some people enjoy group play , accomplishments, and rewards. Gear is a big part of reward and currently there is no reason to dungeons at all . there is no achievement reward,no gear reward, and no crafting benefit. for mats your better off refining.

for leveling an alt your better of solo questing until VR1 then sitting in a craglorn grind. And at the end of the day there is no commerce from the Dye system its strictly Fluff Barbie doll content.

I wish I could understand why anyone would claim they're "forced" to do any content for a dye. It does not make a lick of sense to me.

How badly do you want that one specific color that none of the alternate shades will suffice? That you are compelled, fully against your will, to partake in content you are apparently unable to tolerate for any reason, just to earn this stupid color?

Don't point out how ZOS said that you have "access to 100% of the content" as an argument against this system. You have access to that content. You choose not to do it, and that is no one's concern but your own.

ZOS has, to my eye, done a good job of sorting various shades between methods of play and relative difficulties. I hope a few fixes and tweaks can be made to give colors a more consistent appearance, and maybe alleviate this deep, unquenchable need for a very specific color that people seem to have.
