    Work?
The only work I have done getting my 8 trait sets (I have 9 pieces) is ask in trade chat, payed 500 gold and kaboom, I got it.
There's no work involved in getting 8 traits. Does it take time? Yes. Do you actively need to do anything while it's researching? No.

And your point is mute since crafted set items are not bound to account. You can get BIS items without having to be a crafter yourself.

Upgraded by crafter trials or pvp gear >>> non-upgraded trials or pvp gear
Enchants created by crafters >>> dropped white enchants

Also its debatable what sets are best in game. I choose crafting gear over trials and pvp gear, just for option to choose traits and style.

    Suggestion:

Crafting set items should require rare dropped ingredients so they cannot be produced in infinite amounts (only the set items). Everyone would have a chance to find these ingredients and could earn some extra gold by selling them or keeping them for their own crafts. Right now, there is no market for crafted set items anymore. The supply surpasses the demand by far. For every armor piece and weapon type there are hundreds of crafters that can create 8-trait set versions of it and thousands of crafters that can create the much more popular 6-trait sets.

With the new rare ingredient system, to craft light armor gloves with a 4-trait set bonus, for example, would require 2 rare items dropped only by plant type monsters (only light armor gloves of sets with 4 traits or more require that since plant monsters are quite rare) and another 1 dropped only by ghosts (this one would be needed for all armor set items with exactly 4 traits) and 4 rare items dropped only by light armor type humanoids (these ingredients would drop the most often and would be needed for all light armor crafted set items).

With this change, there could be a market with crafted set items again and everyone who plays the game and hunts monsters or plays the market or becomes a professional crafter would benefit from it. Crafted set items would be "rare" and worth something again. The only problem I see is that the introduction of more dropped items would require more inventory and bank space, so I'd add a free update of 30 more bank slots and 10 more inventory slots for everyone. Old set items would become stale (the set bonus would not work anymore) and an NPC in the capital of each alliance would offer the option to get back all improvement materials used on stale set items (turning them into white non-set items).

Crafted gear is sill quite powerful. Furthermore, any dropped gear has to be modified by crafters to reach maximum power. Nobody was lied to. I really like the new sets. Sure it sucks having to redo your gear but that is just life in an mmo. However, they always maintained that dropped sets would have more powerful set bonuses and crafted items would have higher armor/weapon power. That all they promised.

Magicka based builds are the norm while stamina builds are shunned. This is an attempt to correct that. When viewed with the soft cap changes it is quite plain what is going on.

You don't have to take any points in anything but hireling and upgrade mat reduction to this. Upgrading is not what makes a crafter, making gear is what makes a crafter. Any normal joe can level their equipment crafts to 50 easily by just deconning stuff they find off of monsters while they level up and just take the 2 traits. You cant take 2 traits from the crafting tree and call yourself a crafter.

Crafters will make the best gear.

Tho imo a lot of the 2-6 trait gears are better or as good as the trials sets depending how you play your char. The trials sets just get dropped as legendary.

REALLY freaking upset that they're moving basically every armor/item set to 5 pieces to get the full bonus. This really upsets me because when this game first launched ZOS made it perfectly clear that you have full customization, and can play the way you want. While moving many sets from 3 pieces to 5 for the full effect may not seem like a big deal, I happen to think that it is. Many people have strategically crafted, purchased, or aligned their armor and items to get at least 2, and sometimes 3 full sets. To me, this only offers players even MORE ways to play than ever before. By moving every armor set to 5 pieces this severely limits and cuts down on the possible number of armor/item set combinations you can make. For someone who plays ESO and loves the freedom to choose and play how you want in this game, I seriously implore Zenimax to consider leaving the 3 set pieces as just 3 sets. I can't stress enough how important it is to many people to have the ability to really get into their armor sets and figuring how how to wear as many as possible (or just wear 2 that you really like). I hope a large number of you on this post will agree with me as well, and I hope ZOS sees this also.

The problem is that pretty much everyone and their mother used the same limited number of sets. I mean literally an overwhelming number of people using the same 3 or 4 set bonuses. This change is an effort to make all of the sets more useful in their own way, and to make you choose which one or two sets you use vs the current, 3 Willows 5 Twilight, and either 3 warlock or 3 wrath (maybe trial gear set if you have it for raiding, or 5 pvp set if you have it for pvp).

Yeah but stuff like Warlock is now being moved to a full 5 piece. I definitely see your point and am definitely of the opinion that SO many players out there just play so "cookie-cutter" or that standard "OP/Flavor of the Month" build, that they fail to be creative. Maintaining the 3 item sets, as 3 items...still allows those of us with a brain to be creative with our builds. I definitely see both sides of the argument here, dont get me wrong, I just don't like the change cause I feel it goes against overall build creativity. :)

I don't think it lowering build diversity at all. The lack of various passives and skill balance is what does causes that. The gear situation is one of lowering overall power in some respects while increasing it in others. Combine the gear change with soft cap change and you get a better picture. The re itemization is nothing more than part of the continuing effort to lower the power gap between magicka builds and stamina builds while giving more flexibility in armor choices. This way two specific set paradigms won't be the end all be all of dps gearing.

I only see a buff to dps magicka builds here. WTH is everyone talking about? example: 4 piece aeither 8%crt + 3 piece night mother 4%crt + 3 piece covenant imperium with frost staff 17% crt + theif mundus ?3peice?5.8%crt? + mage light 20%crt + light armor passives 10%crt = around 65% crit !AND! 8 spell damage from your gear that was never possible before. plus drop a pot in the mix and your crit is 105% I will actually be running something different then this that im excited about Torug's pact/aeither mixture for my destro weapon build crushing shock/critical surge/pulsar/(camo hunter/caltrops)/mage light ulti: flawless dawnbreaker. the added hp allows me to avert more attention to stamina's soft cap and the added weapon and spell damage adds to my weaving crushing shock and to both caltrops and camo hunter. This is a total win everyway I look at it for magicka and for the few destro's like myself that wish they could create a better weapon build :))))

@ZOS_GinaBrun - In the patch notes it states clearly that all 3 pieces sets receive a 2 piece minor bonus. The PvP "Deadly Strike" Set doesn't receive such a bonus while the other 3 pieces PvP sets do.

Is this intentional or is it an oversight?

I do know for sure that its alot faster getting a trial set piece then it is crafting an 8th set piece. I said "(or so ive heard)" because I was sure somebody was gonna pick up that I dont do trials and try to accuse me of not knowing. But yea, somebody had to be a donkey anyway.
I have lots of guildies that do trials, I dont like doing them myself, feels like a job the way people pressure people to do this or that. I only pvp and craft.

any crit cap over 50% is just wrong nobody in any game should be able to permanently have their crit boosted above 50% and crit more than noncrit. I understand temporary buffs/potions that last like 10 seconds whatnot but never with 100% uptime. Id be ok with the cap as long as they look at impen stacking

IMO, a raise in magicka (skill basic damage value) benefits more the damage causing/burst dmg oriented specs. I do not see many benefits for heal spec'd templars (Soul Shine nurf, less magic crit, WL-set changes).

IMO, this patch just enpowers Mages and DKs. A raise in magicka benefits more the damage causing - burst dmg oriented specs. I do not see many benefits for heal spec'd templars (Soul Shine nurf, less magic crit, WL-set changes).

If you ask me the nerf to soulshine was needed. When you look at Soulshine vs Hundings rage, which is spell/healing increase when using spells vs weapon damage increase when using weapon skills, soulshine was several times better, once again making magic builds several times better. Now they will be about the same set-wise. I mean before every spell you cast was 20% stronger. Thats really overpowered and they made no weaponskill equivalent.

The sets before all were them throwin out random bonuses that good on paper (or never even made it to paper), but what happened was they made sets that were obviously the set to use, while others just died by fire. They need to avoid making any of the sets disappear into dust because others are obviously better than the rest.
