"Content Pass" is a bad nomenclature, marketing-wise, it's a red flag for monetization. It makes sense that they'd want to move away from it, people will always associate it with time-limited content.

Umm, personally I would say Season Pass has that nomenclature. Just look at Diablo, Fortnite and so on, its always called Season Pass, and I do not like that.

Don't you mean Battle Pass, which is extremely grindy, has a basic & premium tier of rewards, encouraging FOMO (which is something that Fortnite uses)?

If you want examples of a Season Pass (in which you pay once and get access to the content as it releases over time), there's the Assassin's Creed series, which used it most recently for Valhalla:

No mention in how they dropped the ball for ESO+ members this year either.

I'm glad they seem a bit humble in this letter and I really appreciate more communications. But let's see.

I’m an endgamer, which means I’m expected to preform at a certain level. That level was obtainable for me while also satisfying my “roleplayer” side— all I needed was to make a character who fit one class, the role, and try to make the most of a class’ kit. I can no longer be a good endgamer as I strove to be while also balancing my roleplayer side. To be good I now have to break apart the builds I love to give the group the maximum buffs I possibly can. Subclassing made me choose… and I chose giving up on my dreams.

I am happy to see that this letter did acknowledge the issues of this year and didn't try to hide behind effusively positive platitudes. Still, it is a lot of "wait until the reveal."

It's nice to know we are getting a reveal, and so soon as well. However, I'm holding my optimism until we see what's coming.

At this point, a lot of the players have lost a lot of trust. While you could ask 100 different players what they want, you'd get 100 different answers. The big difference is that before, most of those players who didn't get exactly what they wanted would still find something they enjoyed. But lately that has not been the case, and those issues go back longer than just 2025. We were already saying last year that 2025 would be the make-or-break year, and...

I really do hope that this can be turned around. I really hope that we'll be able to see a well-balanced game with more meaningful Classes and in-depth stories that feel impactful in beautiful zones that all players can feel comfortable about the challenge level of and lively PvP that allows people to engage with their favored modes and new additions to the Companions and Tribute systems and new Classes to add new things and everything that people want.
...but that's a lot. And the players' patience is wearing thin.

If we go by the amount of money spent alone, I guess the players who would define ESO's future should be the housing people then? Most houses cost what, 80 dollars and more? And many players who do housing buy several of them a year.

I rather see people with expertise on a topic (dungeons, PvP, questing, housing, whatever) counceling the devs about that specific topic, if that's necessary.

Nothing seems to work correctly upon release anymore. It's dreadful.

Wanted to make a post about it, but you beat me to it. Hearing the English voices is enough for me to skip over the entire dialogue but having to read the instructions in English too is just tiring, especially if those quests are right next to the old event quests that are fully in French. To be fair though, this is not a French client exclusive, it's every language.

Really early on I was farming mats in one of the unpopulated zones like bal foyen or one of those and had a gm pop up asking what I was doing then disappear. Pretty sure they were just doing bot checks.

Probably some flag if someone runs the same 50 resource nodes in a row lol.

Now a days they probably rely on more automation or ai tools.
