Re: What has caused you to quit the game or barely play any more? What would bring you back?
This is from an xbox NA player.
1. The game going in a direction i didnt like. Tbh i loved ESO for its raiding and later on its PVP. However the game feels more like online skyrim with friends compared to an MMO.
2. The lack of action by the devs towards improvements overall in the game. Even after the "year of improvements" it yielded very little improvements.
3. The fact that zos as a whole just didnt listen to feedback for the longest time when they were given piles and piles of data supporting it, they just turned a blind eye to it. Why even have a PTS if you just ignore the playerbase?
4. Update 35. This was the beginning of the end for me. It decimated the raiding community on all platforms. Like point 3, zos did not care at the time. Even before i quit around a year ago, raiding on xbox NA was dead.
Literally only came back to the forums after seeing eightpuppies latest yt about his opinions on the game. So thought id check out the forums. Seems like nothing has changed since ive been gone.

It’s quite easy to understand.
You have these mid-tier players all trying to push content they are not ready for, being forced into builds they do not want to play because they have neither the experience, knowledge, or reputation to play something deemed “off-meta.”
They follow cookie-cutter builds from their favorite content creators, and now those creators are complaining because build videos are their job, and mid-tier strugglers are not interested in 2nd best, so they get not even a quarter of the add revenue that they would normally. People dislike subclassing for a lot of different reasons. Trying to paint everyone who disagrees with you as the same kind of player, based on guesses and no real proof, doesn’t really help your point. It just comes off as dismissive.

They do speak for the loads of people who quitted since subclassing was released thought.
I appreciate how youre pushing the pro subclassing agenda with passion, for real.
But in the long run the current path ZOS is chosing to go, is harming the game, as we can tell by the dwinding of the playerbase and the unhappyness of the community since months - years. Specially the last year made everything only worse.
I can just tell you, ZOS wont be paying for infrastructure and servers to keep this game alive for 100 solo players, when everyone else quitted.
And atm thats the trend, people going on masses.

Low quality and overall amount of content, developers ignore players feedback, few years of terrible combat design decisions, long time forgotten pvp content, homogenization and absence of diversity in high end pve content
lack of ingame rewards for clearing hardest content in the game and absolutely enormous, greedy, predator monetization
"breaking daily quests" event was a final point for me, cancelled sub and deleted the game
I may return if devs start working on the improvements but unfortunately there is no sign of this

I have no comment on this thread's content but what you say is definitely not a genuine concern to have about PvP.
Nearly all drama in PvP starts with getting into someone's DMs. If you stay out of people's DMs then you stay out of drama. You can even put yourself in Offline Mode so that nobody can DM you.
Especially if you are just a casual player surfing along with your zone zerg or something, you are basically anonymous and people will leave you completely alone.
I wish that was all that was to it, but its not. Unfortunately, there is a lot of drama in some campaigns about who gets crowned Emperor for your alliance. The reality is that there are some players who are just on a LOT more than others, and thus, if someone outside their circle wants to Emp, there is a price to be paid (typically gold). If you don't suck up to these people or play nice, they tend to ban together to report bomb you, and people have gotten banned just due to the sheer number of reports that were sent. Players get a "free vacation" so to speak while they take a deeper look into the matter.
This situation DOES lead to some salty exchanges, but not always. But the whole Emp mechanic does lead to a lot of toxicity in PVP when it comes to Emp popularity politics, and if you offend the powers that be, you could find yourself wrongfully on the end of a report bomb.
It's actually pushed a lot of quality players out of the game on Xbox NA.

There absolutely should be a role check. Every game (virtually) minus ESO is able to do this.
Set a minimum HP limit for tanks along with the presence of a taunting ability or its equivalent on their bar. Healer? Same thing. There has to be a minimum of 3 support-based skills on each bar for instance. If you want to run a group with 4 dps or 1 tank 3 dps for instance or less than 4 people, make your group before and then run into the dungeon.
To go along with this, expecting any sort of requirements in experience for a random dungeon queue for veterans regardless isn't going to do anything. You could increase the CP minimum to 1000 and you'd still have the same problems because CP equates more to time played than experience. There are plenty of CP 2000+ players that have never run many of the veteran DLC dungeons. The problem lies with the path from starting the game to getting to the difficult content efficiently/with proficiency. There are no hard lessons learned in the game UNTIL that due to overland scaling and ease. You can be naked and questing with fists and be fine currently. The scaling and horizontal progression of this game is cool until you realize it actually has wide spread negative effects

Most of what ZOS has done since and including U35 has been detrimental to the game. U35 killed the end game PvE community and showed how little ZOS will respond to customer feedback. The 10 year anniversary event was a disaster and the 2025 content was even worse. And vengeance is killing what's left of the PvP community. That leaves only the casual questers who don't sub, rarely buy crowns, and only log on a few times/week if that. ESO can not survive on that.
If everyone at ZOS isn't in crisis mode right now they're even more out of touch than their harshest critics claim they are.
