I know I'm not who you're addressing here, but I thought I'd give my perspective.
1. After two years of a relatively stable meta that comfortably allowed one to learn the content instead of having to chase different gear or level certain classes (once you already had the gear farmed and the classes leveled, obviously), we're back to square one--certain sets like Runecarver and Azureblight are completely dead on Arcanist. All the materials you spent, wasted. The time you spent farming those sets, wasted. All your presets using them, wasted.
2. This is a massive grind--if you're, say, a tank main, you can have a Necromancer, Sorcerer, and Dragonknight tank ready to go--but that doesn't matter. Now you need to slog through grinding out the special subclassing versions of those skill lines (at doubled experience cost, too)--Earthen Heart and Grave Lord and Daedric Summoning and on and on--doing the exact same stuff you've already done, like Dragonstar Arena, which you've done so often you can practically quote Hiath from memory. And with doubled skill point cost, you get to go do the same delves and public dungeons again you've done a million times before, too.
3. The meta hasn't settled yet, which is unsettling. You feel like you're drifting aimlessly while people smarter than you consider what's to come. What's more...
4. The meta is shaping up to be incredibly homogeneous. We're talking all DPS are the same, healers are the same, and only tanks are different but they're sharing Earthen Heart.
This is, essentially, people saying "I wish I'd picked pizza instead of hamburger" and the developers hearing "try our new pizzaburger! That's what you wanted, right? Also we made pizza and hamburgers worse so you have to eat it."
And if you think the pizzaburger is disgusting, too bad, everyone's going to make you eat the slop. Why wouldn't they? After all, the developers ensured it's the new best option.
Until, of course, they finally come to grips with the horror they've created and we get a round of nerfs to rival Update 35.

@sarahthes As a more """"midcore"""" player (i like soloing hard content like DLC dungeons) I am curious, what was it about the update that made your team quit? Genuine question. Is it because the meta will involve absolutely EVERYONE running the same build?
For me, I really want to enjoy subclassing, but I really wish everyone else could do so, too. But, my playstyle does not involve following a meta, it involves making an effective character that can suit a certain theme; the more creative and visually appealing, the better.
As I say, I AM excited for subclassing, but seeing so many people feel disheartened and disappointed is also making me feel the same way about it all.

I can see a lot of people are already looking forward to sub-classing and planning their builds. Fewer people were looking forward to U35. There was a poll on the forum called U35 good or bad' and 80% thought it was bad. The latest poll for 'how are we feeling about sub-classing' gives 44% in the bottom two negative categories. That's only 2 polls but sub-classing has a more positive vibe.

Not that it's a scientific poll, but the 44% you mentioned seems like an awful lot of people thinking this update is garbage and makes the game a lot less fun. It doesn't matter what percent it is really, it just seems like a bad idea to make the game a lot less fun for a lot of players or at least they should tell us why our fun is being discarded for these drastic changes we didn't ask for.

Thanks for explaining. As for the folk you mentioned, would they find it unacceptable to create build rules for themselves? For example, 'create and optimise the best dps i can without using beam', or 'create the best buffing and support build I can'? Or, is the idea of going for maximum optimisation so important that it could potentially drive them away from the game? Again, genuine questions. I know I have been sassy in previous posts about the negative feedback to subclassing (you can see my post history on that) but honestly, I hate the idea that people feel like they are being pushed out of a game they love.

If it's like what you said, I'll be happy, but my problem is we are pve endgame player and not use meta, like i main use khajiit stam nb doing vdsr hm/trifecta
for old trail trifecta, all class have enough power done this, but when start RG ,we need most aoe in most combat other 4 class not have enough power do this,it main problem in hardest last part trial you hard/cant found nb/sorc/temp/warden 4+ parse dps
other point is next dungreon/trial maybe will use 170k subclass power design ,
like vss hm or god slayer in u45 is very easy ,because elsweyr patch highest power dmg only 100k+
all class still good in there,
but vdsr need more power and aoe because it from a patch have 125k dps and good aoe build(dk),so it why you still only can see 2 warden 9 nb dps in log try hardmode, and arc have 50-70%,they have enough power and best aoe when they born, but have a defect, they single dmg is badest
but next patch subclass arc is Perfect class, same time have easy use/low lost dmg/ best st&aoe dmg /buff /safe shield and ult

Idk about the folks in question, but for me it would feel like getting from point A to point B by jumping on one leg instead of walking on two, just for the sake of doing something different. Sure, it might be fun to do it once, especially with friends, but I wouldn't want it to become my default.

The percent matters in the aspect of who are u gonna balance a game around 44% or the 56%? Yes ideally u want 100% satisfaction but that is practically impossible. Granted it’s not a scientific poll but it’s still a metric to account for when dollar signs are involved.

Yes, that about sums it up.
I would do off meta stuff for a fun or meme run, but not for my progressions or try hard stuff.

Nope. None of the numbers are accurate, but at least show that they are releasing something that many players think ruin the game and make it less fun. No one is forcing the devs to release multiclassing garbage in the form it is now, they are ruining the game for some players and they're releasing the update before it's ready.

ideally you want 80/20 bcs your right 100% is impossible, but if you can get 80% of the population to agree with what your doing that id say its fine. the fact that around 60% of the player base DOES NOT like the change in its current form should indicate to them that it requires massive reworks before it can be implemented, but as we have all seen by past actions and also by looking at the current PTS cycle they obv plan to just launch it and let the game be unplayable broken for hardcore players and then fix it years down the line when a new group of people replace us to complain.

Only about 40% don’t like changes just heads up. Let’s also look at some other interesting bits of information obviously those who aren’t happy will be very vocal does tht make it a majority not really because obviously ppl who are satisfied don’t need to vocalize their satisfaction so given the poll tht was referenced previously only had 44% unhappy and majority happy at 56%. ZOS has more than just the forum for feedback so likely there is more positive feedback that isn’t shown properly in these forum posts. Polls in message boards are for entertainment, not for real data. No matter how much the cheerleaders want us to like multiclassing garbage that ruins our fun, we won't. They didn't have to release such a divisive new feature until it's actually ready, there are plenty of other new features that aren't nearly as divisive.

However no one can know for sure without being one of the devs just what all feedback has been received.
Polls in message boards are for entertainment, not for real data. No matter how much the cheerleaders want us to like multiclassing garbage that ruins our fun, we won't. They didn't have to release such a divisive new feature until it's actually ready, there are plenty of other new features that aren't nearly as divisive.
You’re right they are for fun but they also give data on top of other feedback devs receive. No matter how much critics want us to hate multiclassing some of us will remain excited for what is coming.

The percent matters in the aspect of who are u gonna balance a game around 44% or the 56%? Yes ideally u want 100% satisfaction but that is practically impossible. Granted it’s not a scientific poll but it’s still a metric to account for when dollar signs are involved.
Nope. None of the numbers are accurate, but at least show that they are releasing something that many players think ruin the game and make it less fun. No one is forcing the devs to release multiclassing garbage in the form it is now, they are ruining the game for some players and they're releasing the update before it's ready.
If 44% are unsatisfied and 56% are more players are happy then not regardless how accurate. As not every player participated in the poll.cuddles_with_wroble wrote: »SaintJohnHM wrote: »I can see a lot of people are already looking forward to sub-classing and planning their builds. ideally you want 80/20 bcs your right 100% is impossible, but if you can get 80% of the population to agree with what your doing that id say its fine. the fact that around 60% of the player base DOES NOT like the change in its current form should indicate to them that it requires massive reworks before it can be implemented, but as we have all seen by past actions and also by looking at the current PTS cycle they obv plan to just launch it and let the game be unplayable broken for hardcore players and then fix it years down the line when a new group of people replace us to complain.
Wrong again. We don't want you to hate it, we want them to take more time to fix it so that it's still fun for all of us.
