I might be late to the party, but I wanted to chime in:

Thank you so much for getting rid of that ugly, annoying glow!! Whoever made the decision - great work!!

    I think it a win/win change

No a toggle would be a win/win this is merely bending the knee. I liked the glow personally.

A toggle would have been preferable, specially after letting this matter 'sit' for so long; there are players that liked it after all.

I can understand how some players might find this change 'crimping their (fashion) style' that same way that the permaglow was crimping mine.

This sounds like great news, finally I will be able to slot this skill again.

When do we expect this feature to move from PTS to the production server?

How does one get rid of a stack if one is left with it after combat?

When the update launches like every single PTS. On the main page it states early June. Just use it on a critter or something lol

Since this "intended" change, I've repeatedly removed Grim Focus from my skill bar when I didn't want to permanently glow like a red lantern outside of combat. I think an on/off toggle for the glow would have been a better option, but thanks for removing the permanent glow.

Edit: ... and I can dig out the Gloambound style and use it again ...

Anything is better than what it was. This is something I’m going to actually be able to live with since it’s so easy to shut off the glow by zoning.

Cant you just drag it off your skill bar and back on and it remove it? Like sorc pets?

Yes, I think they even suggested that as a way to do it in the patch notes. 🙂

well , yes , u can drag it off/on to disable the glow when idle. but in combat since u build stacks of focus, it comes back . i hate it because the glow doesnt fit the weapon at all (as u can see in the img) , so i wish i could get rid of it entirely.
the best suggestion is a toggle in options to see/not see it .
the new update is a start i guess; maybe in 2-5 more years it will be done...

In all fairness, the mismatching glow has always been the case. The permanent glow just really highlighted (haha) the sloppy implementation.

But yes - it really should be better. Shouldn't be too hard; enchantments are aligned with weapons as well after all. For now, I'll just be happy that I can at least use the skill without being a permanent traffic light.

I didn't mind the glow on some characters and some weapons. Hated it on others. I do wish it was a toggle instead of full on reverting to original

Not on console. You started glowing just for putting a skill point in it.

This is incorrect. On console you still have to slot it on a skill bar for the glow effect.

It's been exactly a year since I stopped playing ESO and this problem was one of the main things that forced that decision.

Recently been thinking about ESO and I thought I'd check out this thread one last time to see if anything changed, can't tell you how happy I am to see they finally listened.

Might see you guys back in Tamriel soon, good stuff.

Sooo... You need to charge it fully, then release, and then have insane self-discipline not to attack (light/heavy) anything again, or else you become laser-red once more. And complete the entire procedure when you want to get rid of it again. And again.
It's better than nothing... But I'd say it's dangerously close to nothing.

Oh what do my tired old eyes see. Not only did the redo the character screen, they also finally did something about this. It's a good day! (Even if this doesn't completely remove the glow, it's the middle ground. I shall grumble no more.)

Well, this positive disposition definitely does help (unironically).
I just want to record how much those who appreciate the subtlety and intent in style are ready to "move" and take the small things, as long as it makes our playstyles viable.
Definitely better than nothing, I agree.
This has been a lot of hard work. Would be nice to... celebrate or something, I guess.

I thought it was a bug, and with 46 the glow should be on only if you have full stack. I see that you have to empty the stacks and have zero stacks to get rid of it. This isn't fixing anything.

It does let you turn it off sort of. Changing zone will set you to 0 stacks which stops the glow. Although I agree that it would be better if it glowed when ready yes.

I don't know. I think it's enough of an improvement that I'll start using this skill again. (Though they also did buff the heck out of it, too, and that may factor into things.)

What I'd really like to see is for the red glow to only appear when you have enough stacks to actually fire. That would be better for aesthetics, and besides, how else am I supposed to tell when a proc is ready if I'm not using my skill bar?
