Give us a REASON to fight - Christmas Wishes 2016 / PvP enhancement proposal for the future

First of all thx to the ESO-crew for introducing so many new sets, the three towns in Cyrodiil, the flags in the IC districts and fighting the lag! We really acknowledge your work and effort!

These are our thoughts and ideas for the future of PVP and were hoping for a constructive dialogue!


Basic ideas & motivation

  1. PvP players want to fight for a REASON and for getting meaningful BENEFITS, REWARDS and ACHIEVEMENTS.
  2. The other thing that keeps PvP players happy and active within the game is CONTENT, rankings and competitive content.
  3. Most PvPers do NOT enjoy PvE content as much and especially are annoyed by the never ending grind in this type of content - which is basically impossible if you want to play competitively. And the grind got worse with the ever increasing number of sets and fast release cycles.


Suggestions for PvP content and improvements

I. Itemization

There is several different possibilities to stop the necessity to grind for pvp players.
  1. Make every set available for AP at the vendor - it would be ok though if some things are incredibly expensive AP wise or are only sold sometimes like Maelstrom weapons, Monster sets etc.
  2. Include more sets in the reward mails
  3. Just make all sets, items etc available like on PTS - which would basically reduce PvP to what it should be. It would be about competition and skill as everyone has access to everything! If you leave Cyrodiil you'll also loose the sets etc.

II. Content
  1. Introduce more objectives that have with an incentive to conquer it.
    The towns were a nice start, a district flag was interesting as well - BUT besides having vendors no one goes to anymore and a good spawn point there is no incentive to capture them. Some ideas would be e.g. get gold, buffs, resource(ore etc) for claimed objectives for the claiming guild (deposited in the guildbank, one guild can claim only one objective at the same time)/ show the guild heraldry next to the objective / make it more interesting for guilds to defend objectives over time - increasing benefits or similar - GIVE US A REASON TO ORGANIZE AND FIGHT TOGETHER IN GUILDS AND GROUPS.
  2. A new alliance war skill line and or new skills.
    The new skills could be available if you get high alliance war ranks. How about a sieging (ultimate) skill for doing more damage ONLY to walls and structures. ONLY PVP-skills would be amazing.
  3. Housing - Cyrodiil edition: Let us build small walls, towers etc so that the players can create interesting situations themselves in the existing content
  4. Battlegrounds and Arenas: We think there is already enough content, ideas and implementations out there. But it is incredibly easy and cheap to keep the PvP community engaged with different small maps to conquer and fight about released every once in awhile. There should be leaderboards and or tournaments. (Capture the flag etc, 2vs2, 3vs3,...2vs2vs2, 3vs3vs3,...)
  5. Imperial City: Each district should have three flags instead of one.

III. Style
  1. Introduce guild tabbards for the mounts! (You already did it with the alliance tabards and it would look so amazing if u ride together with your guildies...)

Introducing these possibilities would improve the pvp content so much in our opinion...
Reward the players properly and give them a reason to play together and organized...dont force them in doing PVE!!!

    Give me a proper reason to slay more for the Queen!
    After some level of PvP rank or time I spend in Pvp, I begin to think like Ap and capturing castles has no meaning to me. why should I make millions of Ap or get tons of useless rewards? There is no single reason. Why should I login to Pvp campaign to repeat same things that I have done for a year. We do need some NEW CONTENT or some other battle grounds.

    You want your maesltrom weapon ? just try hard during 1 month for loot a maesltrom restoration staff in decisive .
    i don't see why a ganker who farm AP with his " Proc-oneshot-set-build " should be able to buy a maesltrom weapon .

    Not a fan of Maelstrom as PvP-reward, rather have'm introduce a token-system or something for vMA weapons.

    More rewards for PvP, yes! I would suggest adding a new Motif. Since Akaviri is pretty "old" and most people got it already. Add a special new motif only obtainable through AP. Or make the Alliance War-Mount obtainable with AP aswell. A lot of AP, though. But AP.

    Controlling the towns would give some sort of buff, would be sweet. Atm they offer nothing but a tactical advantage(which got even lower with the Outpost-teleporting). Each town adds 2% weapon/spell damage or 2% more critical. Just something that makes it worth capturing the towns.

    I like the idea of a Siege Skill-Line. Passives with e.g. "Take 5% less damage from siege weapons" "Your siege weapon deals 3% more damage" or something. Move the Siege Shield to this skill line and add another Support-skill. A heal(like vigour) for magickas could be nice. Just do something more out of the PvP-system.

    The lag & FPS-drops would be great to have fixes. Yes, I do know it's hard to do since on CP-campaigns all the CP is taking into consideration aswell(Probs why non-CP campaigns are more lag-friendly).

    I have a very strong opinion on this. I try not to talk about it because the only people who listen are the ones that are part of the problem. They just tell me to leave the campaign, or quit if I don't enjoy the game.

    First off, I have to say most my time ( for the last year and a half ) I have only played PvP in BwB because I am not a very strong fighter. I've been in a few other campaigns, but my home is BwB.

    Another thing, I strictly play for one alliance. I don't flip flop to what ever is the easiest, and I really don't care about AP, except the fact that I need it for supplies. Also, for the most part you won't find me on the forums crying about things being OP; like, skills, sets, or different classes. I am a team player who fights to win the campaign, I feel in AvAvA all things balance out.

    The problem:
    Population balance in PvP. The problem is when one faction has a large amount of players that creates an unfair advantage.

    Problem description:
    There has been several days, weeks, or months one faction has an overwhelming number of players when the other faction(s) has very little number of players. This creates several problems. It creates an unfair advantage allowing the over populated faction to take anything they want with very little effort. It makes people want to quit the game, it makes people cry about things such as night capping, gate capping, and OP skills, classes, and armor sets. It also creates zone drama, people yelling and talking bad to each other. It also causes people to flip over to the winning faction which creates an even more unfair advantage.

    My complaint
    I am so sick of this issue that several times I asked myself "why I even play this game". It used to be fun, what happened? Was it because ZOS let people flip flop around to play with their friends? Why does everyone want to play on one side of the map?? Why Why Why do they let one faction have a poplock when other factions have 1 bar? All I want is a freaking chance to win and when you have everyone on one side it is impossible to even take a resource. This isn't an issue on just one campaign. For example AS, you have a few AD and a few EP and 20 to 30 DC just walking all over everyone. To me it is very poor game design and it will make people quit, and this issue is bigger than any OP set or skill. And what really makes me upset is peoples response to this issue is "Well AD/EP/DC did it, so we can do it too" Seriously? That is not going to fix the problem, it is just an excuse to keep letting it happen.

    I know Santa won't be coming to Cyro this year, but If I had one wish it would be to fix campaign balance. It would give people a reason to play even more.

    I think PvP has came a long way, but I still think what prevents me from enjoying Cyro more than anything is the abundance of siege. Using a massive objective in the middle of the open that hits players harder than any skills is nonsensical.

    I'd like to see siege used ONLY in and around keeps as its intended. That fact that I can drink an immov pot, place a cold fire at my feet and nuke people isn't very balanced. Something to think about but nice suggestions.

    Very nice and interesting ideas, would be amazing if ZoS would take a look on this. Dont know if all ideas can be done here/should be done, but the most seem to be realistic and worthwhile making.

    Population balance is a major issue on all platforms I think and needs to be one of the major priorities that Zos address's

    It doesn't even have to be Maelstrom weapons they can just make a one set bonus weapon that's obtainable through pvp. I'm also a fan of the token system so I can finally get my sharpened destro staff, i pretty much have given up on farming Maelstrom since i have a full time job I want to spend the time I do have playing PvP instead of doing Maelstrom everyday and hoping I get what I want. Rewards from PvP should be just as powerful as the rewards you get from PvE.

    I agree with the population balance. I don't know why a big PvP guild would even want to be in a campaign were they outnumber everyone. What fun can they even have with 3 bars and everyone else is at one bar. Also the numbers advantage is too great I wouldn't even care about population balance if a small skillful group could take a keep from a large group, but with forward camps and the buff to siege damage is near impossible to take a keep when you are heavily outnumbered even if the outnumbered group are better players. Also the lag that these large groups create gives them such a huge advantage it can make trying to fight them just a nightmare

    It's time to make improvements in Cyrodiil, the meta game has changed a lot but it is no longer adapted to Cyrodiil Today.

    You have to develop new methods of balancing, for the people or for sets and characteristics of characters otherwise you lose all your loyal players.

    Now tell us what you plan for Cyrodiil, fix or give up ? It is our right to know if you focus only on the sale of DLC.

    I think there should be an offensive siege ultimate for the Assault skill line, and move War Horn to the Undaunted tree.

    All i want is small-scale for bragging rights, e.g., 4v4 battlegrounds with group and solo-queues and rankings for each.
    If I could have something on top, it would be balance. But tbh, I'm fine with just following the meta and farming/leveling whatever works for each patch, if I have to.

    First of all, where are battlegrounds you promised last year for this year? You lied.
    Second i want PvE sets and poisons out of PvP, introduce new sets that are PvP specific and that become purchasable as you progress in PvP rank
    Third, influence gear, drink and food buffs and poisons have on your overall performance should be severely diminished, main influence should be reserved for your choice skills and attribute points and all other things should be just icing on the cake, not main contributing factor.
    Fourth, for the love of god triple the CC immunity duration or put dodge and CC break on separate resource for everyone, getting CCd every few seconds is annoying as hell, it breaks the flow of combat AND magicka focused characters run out of stamina very quickly making them unable to stun break or dodge out of immobilize completely.

    Why does ZOS not hurry with battlegrounds?
    The answer is really simple, there is only a small few that care about it and they prolly have not figured out how to make enough money out of it.

    I'very got posts for some fun things (mobile flags like caravans that have effects on the war, turning Cloud Ruler Temple into a battleground with the best parts of gate/bridge fights, so many new achievements, and so on). Can link them later but I agree that there are some things that can enhance Cyrodiil without radically overhauling it.

    They should reintroduce master weapons to the top 2(5) % of campaign rankings again. (end of camp reward)

    Either that or make a pvp version of master weapons that simply give 189 wep dmg for equipping said weaps. (1set bonus)

    That's actually good point. The amount of players who cares about Pvp is really small so who would they çare about Pvp while they can make profit by working on PvE content?

    These are our thoughts and ideas for the future of PVP and were hoping for a constructive dialogue!


    Basic ideas & motivation

    1. PvP players want to fight for a REASON and for getting meaningful BENEFITS, REWARDS and ACHIEVEMENTS.
    2. The other thing that keeps PvP players happy and active within the game is CONTENT, rankings and competitive content.
    3. Most PvPers do NOT enjoy PvE content as much and especially are annoyed by the never ending grind in this type of content - which is basically impossible if you want to play competitively. And the grind got worse with the ever increasing number of sets and fast release cycles.


    Suggestions for PvP content and improvements

    I. Itemization

    There is several different possibilities to stop the necessity to grind for pvp players.
    1. Make every set available for AP at the vendor - it would be ok though if some things are incredibly expensive AP wise or are only sold sometimes like Maelstrom weapons, Monster sets etc.
    2. Include more sets in the reward mails
    3. Just make all sets, items etc available like on PTS - which would basically reduce PvP to what it should be. It would be about competition and skill as everyone has access to everything! If you leave Cyrodiil you'll also loose the sets etc.

    II. Content
    1. Introduce more objectives that have with an incentive to conquer it.
      The towns were a nice start, a district flag was interesting as well - BUT besides having vendors no one goes to anymore and a good spawn point there is no incentive to capture them. Some ideas would be e.g. get gold, buffs, resource(ore etc) for claimed objectives for the claiming guild (deposited in the guildbank, one guild can claim only one objective at the same time)/ show the guild heraldry next to the objective / make it more interesting for guilds to defend objectives over time - increasing benefits or similar - GIVE US A REASON TO ORGANIZE AND FIGHT TOGETHER IN GUILDS AND GROUPS.
    2. A new alliance war skill line and or new skills.
      The new skills could be available if you get high alliance war ranks. How about a sieging (ultimate) skill for doing more damage ONLY to walls and structures. ONLY PVP-skills would be amazing.
    3. Housing - Cyrodiil edition: Let us build small walls, towers etc so that the players can create interesting situations themselves in the existing content
    4. Battlegrounds and Arenas: We think there is already enough content, ideas and implementations out there. But it is incredibly easy and cheap to keep the PvP community engaged with different small maps to conquer and fight about released every once in awhile. There should be leaderboards and or tournaments. (Capture the flag etc, 2vs2, 3vs3,...2vs2vs2, 3vs3vs3,...)
    5. Imperial City: Each district should have three flags instead of one.

    III. Style
    1. Introduce guild tabbards for the mounts! (You already did it with the alliance tabards and it would look so amazing if u ride together with your guildies...)

    Introducing these possibilities would improve the pvp content so much in our opinion...
    Reward the players properly and give them a reason to play together and organized...dont force them in doing PVE!!!

    Hoping for new content and improvement -

    Well we have been asking for a meaningful PVP progression system since beta. A system like realm ranks from Darkage of Camelot is what we really pushed for. The problem is the PVE players complianed that they didn't want any progression in the game that had to be done in PVP. I think the closest we are ever going to come is what the Champion System gave us. At this point tho I think we are just better off waiting for Camelot Unchained to be finished next as it is giving us everything we want.

    Thx to all for your ideas and replys,

    some posts were about: ZOS doesn't care about PVP cause they wont earn money with it. How about some ideas ZOS can make money with PVP? Lets give them some ideas...

    Fashion: Guild tabbards for Horses, Banners for claimed objects (keeps, outposts, resources etc.), new PVP related style + costumes (YEAH im a fashion victim...)
