Give us a REASON to fight - Christmas Wishes 2016 / PvP enhancement proposal for the future

[*] Battlegrounds and Arenas: We think there is already enough content, ideas and implementations out there. But it is incredibly easy and cheap to keep the PvP community engaged with different small maps to conquer and fight about released every once in awhile. There should be leaderboards and or tournaments. (Capture the flag etc, 2vs2, 3vs3,...2vs2vs2, 3vs3vs3,...)
[*] Imperial City: Each district should have three flags instead of one.
    [/list]

    THIS.

Can't believe that ESO still doesn't have small scale arenas, but then i remember that something so simple as duel took 12 updates to go live...

I personally like large scale cordinated battles, but i really miss those small arenas when i'm short of time and just want to do some quick fights, or to practice with your guildmates with different group sizes and players.
For example, you have a core 8 players and want to fight together to improve your group synergy. This is possible in cyrodiil, but it's not easy and takes time to find other 8-10 group there, and even if you arrange a fight with other guild, it will always pop up other players and it won't be 8x8 anymore... with arenas you can do that all day, without other ppl messing around or wasting time looking for a fight.

I think those arenas will keep more players engaged (more money) and i don't mind if they put a moba like mode just to increase the game population, i don't see a problem if the arenas/battlegrounds takes out some players from cyrodiil, probably it will be those ones that wasn't doing anything helpful for their alliance anyway...

This game's PVP doesn't get most players attention because it's only cyrodiil and ic/sewers, ppl need more pvp modes and options or else they will get bored... and also it should be profitable.

It's not that hard ZOS, stop copy and pasting dungeons and just put 1 new pvp mode every update, in one year we will have 4 new modes. Just charge 1500 crowns for this in a DLC, ppl already pay just to farm proc sets...

    1) Add a reason to defend keeps (customization, investing gold into it etc.)
    2) Remove PvE from IC & Sewers and make them available with bridges; make the objectives useful for the alliance
    3) Make towns useful for the alliance besides being a respawn point
    4) Improve performance
    5) Implement a trading route system -> only way to get resources for repairing, sieging etc. - a trading route system could support smallscale PVP since interrupting a wagon will force enemies to protect it (If they don´t protect them, they will miss out important material for repairing and sieging)
    6) Let us customize keeps
    7) Let some skills and/or sets work differently in PvE / PvP as it is with Ambush for example. Some Skills / Set are fine in PvE, but broken in PvP. Eye of the Storm and Proc Sets as an example.
    8) Give losing Ressources actually a meaning in this game besides shutting down transport. As example less repair, less NPC strength, faster flag turn, fewer materials for trading routes
    9) Bring back Soft Caps
    10) "Housing" in form of temporary walls and houses to build choke points in the middle of nowhere; of course not in an instant. They could also be used to build a raidbase to fall back to.

I'd love to see an infinite dungeon where a team of 4 players go through delves that increase in difficulty and every 5 levels or so run into a 4v4v4 situation....winners gets AP and loot/rewards to go deeper into an infinite dungeon.

Would be good to have a non PvP dungeon for the carebears.

Another wish would be to make vmsa weapons available for pvp players with ap or introduce a token system. Peronally for me it would be ok to do 10 vmsa runs and get enough tokens to get a vmsa weapon with a TRAIT OF MY CHOICE.

At the moment the players are forced into PVE and further more are kept busy with farming only because of random drops and the fact that a lot of traits are just trash. I think like 6/9 are useless. I know a lot of people who have done like 100 vmsa runs and still didnt get the weapon they wanted. Thats ridicolous and it feels like a stupid korean mmorpg like BDO. Come on Zenimax you can do better, were not becoming brainless grinders, before that happens a lot of people will quit the game including myself.

ESO has so much potential Zenimax u just have to fix some stuff.

Tone down all this proc set mayhem. If you don't want to entertain toning the set values down then at least make the proc a more rare occurrence, "more special" in a sense. Right now procs are popping off left and right, the game is handing the player a very strong attack so frequently its part of the skill rotation.

Make crafted gear mean something again. There is no reason why having a build with crafted gear essentially means you can't really compete in Cyrodiil. Crafted gear has been relegated to underwear that is changed constantly as someone grinds to level up. You can take a good player right now and hand him a zero-proc crafted gear build (that would have been viable 6 months to a year ago) and he will get crushed by these proc builds (unless the proc build player makes a large enough mistake). If crafted gear can mean something again then many more players that don't want to spend hours, days, weeks, grinding very specific gear can PvP and have some fun with a decent shot at a chance to have their hand raised in victory.

I don't know how, but light armor and medium armor need to somehow make sense again in PvP. You can even keep heavy armor as is, but some balance and counter balance needs to be added to all three armor weights so that there is reason to wear light and medium. For a few months now wearing light and medium armor doesn't make all too much sense in PvP.

Since we are doing Wishlists add these to the list...

    Spys
    1. Player Location Purchase
      • For X amount of AP or Crown Store Tokens any player can purchase the location of a Specific Player on the opposing faction. For the next 30 Minutes that player is a visible icon on your map similar to the Scroll.
      • Player is notified that a Spy has leaked his location to the enemy for the next 30 minutes.
    2. Guild Location Purchase
      • For X amount of AP or Crown Store Tokens purchase the location of all Guild members of a Specific Guild. Must be purchased by Guild Master. For the next 30 Minutes all players that belong to that guild have visible icons on your map similar to the Scroll.
      • All Guild Members are notified that a Spy has leaked their location to the Specific Guild that purchased their location for the next 30 minutes.

    Guild Leaderboards
    1. Ranking of all guilds in a specific campaign.
    2. Guilds Gather score points based on…
      • Enemy Kills
      • Captured/Claimed Resources
      • Captured/Claimed keeps
      • Captured/Set Scrolls
      • Points scored by Claimed Keeps, Scrolls returned, resources owned.
      • Emperors
      • Guild Members killed
    3. Points are deducted from their overall score by how many of their guild members die. Guilds with more than 50 members that have logged in the last month can claim keeps or resources. No limit to the amount of resources or keeps can be claimed by one guild.
    4. The above points are weighted to give an overall rank of which guilds are doing most for the campaign.
    5. Rewards are also offered to the Best guilds similar to the Single leaderboards.

    Population Imbalance
    1. Dynamic Population.
      • An alliance should only be allowed to have 1 bar more than their competition. Get rid of the home and guest campaigns and allow everyone to be ranked on the leaderboards and receive rewards in which ever campaign they are fighting on.
    2. Prime Time Scoring
      • Change the scoring to be based on time of the day. Split it into 3 groups of 8 hours. Points gained in each time zone have a multiplier added to them. Points scored during NA primetime hours should be worth triple the points of the other 2 zones.

    Emperor
    1. Emperor Backed by Guilds
      • To be crowned emperor you need to have your guild be ranked #1 on the leaderboards and then you need to be the highest of all your guild mates on the individual leaderboard.
    2. Dethrone
      • Emperor must hold 2 of the inner circle to keep Emperor Title. Stops alliance from stacking entire faction into 1 keep. Horrible Lag.
    3. Usurper Emperor
      • Once an Emperor has been crowned the other two alliances have a chance to have their own usurper Emperor. To become usurper emperor, you need to hold all of your alliances 6 home keeps. You are then granted 75% of the emperor stats. If you lose one of those 6 you lose your status until the keeps are retaken.
      • The requirements still stay the same for the usurper Emperor, guild needs to be #1 and you need to be the highest among your guild mates.
      • Once an Emperor is dethroned if no new emperor is crowned Usurper Emperors also lose their stat bonuses and status.

Omg yes please!! Trading Route system :D It would be great! I mean, Cyrodiil got roads for a reason..right?:>
Would be so epic & PvP would actually be worth it again. Instead of: *goes capturing resource* *kills players* *players triggered, calls zerg* *gets zerged*.
Or you could have neutral transports going around in Cyrodiil & you would have to "capture" them and escort them back to your home keep or something.

All of which is completely pointless without proper balance and fair gameplay.
Many people will not come back and many people will keep leaving until that is fixed.
People screaming everything is fine and dandy wont bring those players back.....they know better.

All I ever wanted in PvP was a fair fight.....alone or as a group.
    Anything else is just fluff.
Welcome fluff.....but fluff none the less.

Dont want to put a downer on the thread OP...
..but hiding from the main problem, or focusing in other areas, will never fix it.
They're just a distraction....a form of denial to make the game bearable.

Every PvP build must have weaknesses and strengths, just like is expected when facing PvE bosses.
There is only strengths in this buff stacking game (+X > 0).
When there is equal and opposite weakness, all builds become viable and balance is achieved.
    +X > 0 but....
    0 > -X
Then and only then will there be fair play.
Only when there is fair play will those people come back, and those that expect fair play remain.
Hell you could even consider e-sport status.

In addition to the standard balance and new items, I'd love some of the following...
    • Completely rework the Cyrodiil tutorial. Create an NPC who follows the player (client-side only) who has a full narrative and in-depth instructions to get new players acclimated to the war. Pacrooti has a ton of random speech and it's really well done, and is also client-side. The same can be done for a Cyrodiil tutorial.
    • More emphasis on there being actual armies. Go to the spawn areas and they're dead. Add more life to these areas. More NPCs who have stories and insight to the war, who can really give you a sense of things being a struggle. More troops training, templars assisting the wounded. Give keeps more personnel doing things (perhaps tending to walls, etc). This "massive war" for Cryodiil is being fought by just a handful of people, and while I get the players are filling the role of the front line troops, there's really zero sense of urgency or to this being a war. Cyrodiil feels completely dead in general. Sometimes the theme can set the mood, but "giant empty space with buildings we never even bothered to decorate" doesn't set that mood at all. Contrast that to Imperial City where it feels like there's things going on, like something was lost and war really touched down and affected the land. Yeah, I get these are PVE elements, but they set the tone.
    • Rewards for the Worthy should have a chance to drop ANY Cyrodiilian set, including those from ICS. Getting the same sets over and over and over and over... it's mindbogglingly dull.
    • Introduce assassinations to PVP (but not Dark Brotherhood style). It'd be nice to have a concept where instead of every single person dying instantly allies have the chance to pick them up, provide a heal and save somebody from going down. If they don't get to them they bleed out, die. Let enemies use takedowns to slay them on the ground. Add a sense of brutality to the game.
    • Re-think the keep system. Every single area is exactly the same to fight in, and it's boring.
Again, I *want* lag improved, higher FPS in fights, better balance for sets... at the same time, holy hell is Cyrodiil a boring place. Other than access to the White Gold Tower and claims to the throne there's really nothing worth fighting over there. The landscape is barren, there's far too much downtime and it's... dull. Yeah, it's PVP, and the fun is in the combat. The combat is (proc issues aside) pretty good. But Cyrodiil as a zone is not.

There are towers in the zone that are completely empty. Not even a single aesthetic item in there. It's like it was plopped down in there and forgotten about by the map builders. Cyrodiil needs love, and it can be a really great place.

While we're at it... Player Collision! Ball Zergs are the prefered technique for many groups but they are so lame. Players should collide to make this co-opt penetration impossible. If you're worried about Trolls blocking doorways just allow roll dodging through Players in the same Alliance but not Enemy Players. This will allow for battle formations like shield wall, bull and horns, flanking, envelopment, etc.

The fact that a full 25 player group of morons can literally be hiding inside each other behind a rock is absurd and unrealistic.

I want them to deconfest the *** fest that's normally going on

having towns etc is a nice idea but there is SO much space = opportunity to CREATE small scale that is just NOT BEING USED AT ALL

you didn't need to create Dueling in PVE zone - there is enough space in IC and Cyrodil for that already

use that space and do something to decongest what always happens on Trueflame

ZoS took everyone out of how many servers? and showed them all into basically 2 - Had and TF - and now we have proc-fest

that and I want rewards/for sale items that actually matter - those alchemy bags are great - so are specialized vendors - do more of that - and don't just let us use TelVar, let us use AP as well

do you guys actually think the player base wants to fight?

I think everyone wants to epeen in "small scale" and avoid keep sieges to avoid the "zerging".

I think pvpers just want to have small little 4 v 4 matches so they can record them and shove them down our throats on the forums so you guys can idolize them and suck some D.

seriously, it aint the devs that need to make cyrodiil great again, its the players.

I love these ideas. But the problem is we can give them tons of awesome ideas but if ZoS invest X amount of money to develop it they will receive probably 1/10 of the money that they spent. It is not profitable and they know it. The PvP population is a minority. Now the housing update, this will be the chicken with the golden eggs. This will bring tons of cash for ZoS and they know it. We all know it.

90% of the players in my 5 guilds love PvP and when they spend money for crowns its only for things that make them look cool in PvP. We dont buy mounts for Trials and Dungeons or to sit around someone's house and look at fake furniture. Making money off PvP is easy! Just sell more mounts, costumes, xp scrolls to level new characters, chance to get monster sets from Crates or other PvE only OP sets like widowmaker and vMA weapons. The only reason we run dungeons and trials is to make us better in PvP!!

Most PvPers are ESO plus subscribers. ZOS, You're about to lose us to the new PvP dedicated MMOs coming out. I've already heard of two. These are daily discussions in Scourge on Xbox NA. You gotta fix whats broken and release some cool PvP by summertime or you'll see whole guilds leave ESO plus.
