Other way around. Zenimax is the parent company. Bethesda and zenimax online systems are subsidiaries.

Get over it, this game killed itself.

You edited it after I quoted you.

It says edited heh. Also says what time.

Yes it does, which 100% factually proves that you quoted me 6 minutes after I made the edit. What are you smoking?

WoW didn't gain traction until TBC. Vanilla was what, two years? Every game starts somewhere, some people think it's effective to compare a new game to a well established game. Compare this game at 2 years to wow at 2 years and it's the same damn thing, guys.
No it isn't the same thing. There wasn't as many MMO players in 2004 as there are today.
Some could argue WoW made MMO more streamlined as well and set the opening bar to get more players into an MMO - because even though vanilla WoW was no joke, MMOs before it were a bit more 'hardcore'.
WoW had a very successful launch, impressing most published reviewers with a medium score over 90% and by 2005 had a playerbase over 2 million.
You must have not been there at launch. It was far from impressive.
And reviewers are no different than most forum posters, fanboys or haters, except those schmucks get paid to write.
I was there actuallyand I remember the hiccups but it didn't stop my friends and me from playing (unless server was down). I accepted this more then, than I do now.
I remember reading reviews back in the day and I'd like to think they weren't as paid for then as they are now. Back in the day devs actually liked to make good games first and profit was the reward before EA and Activision bought everyone up and said profit first, game second.

Not that im saying eso wont make 10 years, im just saying basing it off the largest game of this type might not be the way to go.
WoW subs peaked around 12 Million during WoTLK and went in slow decline ever since. The last numbers released by Blizzard showed subscriptions below 6 Million. They've since said they are no longer going to release subscription numbers because they believe it no longer gives an accurate representation of how many play.

Seems like you should heed your own advice. Or is posting negativity in every thread of a game you hate/no longer play, what the kiddies do for fun these days?
Kiddies? Kiddies are the ones forgiving every single mistake Zos makes.

I've been around games for too long to let a few mistakes bother me, as long as I enjoy the overall experience, I'll survive the odd flaws here and there. Heck, if I would demand a flawless game, I would never play any of Bethesda's game at all, they're riddled with flaws and bugs. But the overall experience and enjoyment is great, so I forgive those mistakes.
"Few mistakes" LOL You people would forgive anything.
Mates, i logged into live game today for the first time since... early november i think? I was on PTS server and frankly speaking was pretty disappointed, but thought to myself ill try the live version.
Logged in on 64bit version (took me 3 tries to do that btw) and i must say i was dishearted how EU server seemed dead. I am sure there are people on, hell im sure there are people in new dlc right now but i was in the game for around 1 h. logging in on all my 4 characters - different levels from 11 till vr15, different factions and ... nothing. I didnt see a single another player, i didnt see a single line of chat be it in guild channels or zone chat.
Tried going to cyrodil -Azura is quiet, trueflame - some action but probably because of that game lags as hell, 3 times black screen of death and 1 kick to desktop, well at least i saw people chatting about exactly those problems in chat.
Perhaps because of my break, but i was shocked, truly shocked. 10 years? Oh mates if some drastic changes wont come soon in 10 years people will just be reminded from time to time about the TES MMO that failed.
I think the DLC format they have adopted is a good model for sustaining the game. It is less content than a full on expansion but enough to keep most players around until the next one is due. They often add new mechanics or gear even for the base game for those that chose not to buy the DLCs or subscribe. However, my main concern is how they will keep it up after the Dark Brotherhood DLC releases.
All of the DLC up until then (IC, Wrothgar, TG, DB) have basically been worked on for around 18-24 months in some form or another, so the next few ones after that will be ones we should pay real attention to in terms of quality and release cadence. ZOS will more than likely not have such a headstart on the content development. Seeing how some of the recent releases have so many bugs, I do feel worried that the fresher content might have even more issues if it's rushed out the door.
There is some competition coming up in the next 1-2 years for sure, but some seem very niche like Camelot Unchained and Crowfall. Star Citizen could be a monster but it seems like it will attract a different type of audience altogether.
As for being around 10 years, it's entirely possible and I wouldn't be surprised if a sister game in the form of a Fallout MMORPG is announced in the next 3-5 years.

Now this is definitely not true and i doubt that you haven't seen anyone (if you have not closed your eyes, that is). My experience is that the game is rather crowded at prime time and it is hard to find a location, where you are completely alone for even a few minutes (beside those instanced buildings where you start out in at level 3). So to me it sounds unbelievable, that you claim to not have seen other players around.

Haha, I heard the same "excuse" from Linden Labs, when the number of players per 30 days dropped below a million. It was about the same relation - more than 50% less than at their best times.

Bethesda does have a thing or 2 to say about lore directions and how things are run. Zenimax Online was created specifically for ESO (when it was first created), and Zenimax Media inc. - the umbrella company - was created in May 1999 by Christopher Weaver and Robert A. Altman.
So I'm not entirely sure that it would be "cheaper for Zenimax Online, as they most likely will have a turn-around clause to continue developing ESO, and as such act as a "license" to continue developing this game. They're also using a licensed engine (HeroEngine) as well as an assortment of other licensed software programs. So I don't think they're having it that much cheaper than other MMO companies, per example Blizzard is having it a lot cheaper, using both a proprietary engine as well as 100% ownership of their lore (thanks to legal agreements, Activision and Blizzard is considered separate entities so neither have any rights nor anything to say in what the other is doing in terms of development).

ESO will never make it on console.
ESO will never survive after Fallout 4.

ESO will never live past the current sky is falling scenario that pops up every 2 months.
Every one of these things has been brought up for about the last 4 years. Yes, people were even calling the game dead before it launched.
Here is the reality ... as long as they continue to turn a profit the game will survive. Maybe it's 5 years, maybe 10. Who knows. There is so much doomsaying around these parts it's silly. Deal with info that you know. We KNOW that it will still be putting out DLCs for 2016, and we are pretty well assured 2017 as well. Even if that's the end of them that would still bring us to a 5 year life cycle which is amazing for any game. Comparing it to WOWs longevity as the bench mark is foolish. That's like calling a baseball player lazy for not being Cal Ripken. That said, the only thing that may kill it off, other than money, would be a transition to the PS5 or XBox1000. Even then chances are high that backwards compatibility won't be an issue.
Long story short ... one day the servers will close. That day is a hell of a long way off from now. Enjoy the ride.
