Should Vet Maelstrom have some type of SAVE function?

The people on here who say that if you save you can never get a weapon or loot are out of their minds. Literally.

    As always :)
Need nerf -> u killed or nearly one shot
Need buff -> u can't kill others with ur set up
Make more usual -> u don't have chance to get it
Change rng -> u don't get that item

    but other hands
I got first time Molag Kena head piece armor with Divine trait, RNG is cool.
I can kill all mob in the world, all skills good not need buff and nerf.

Everything okey just ppls like the dislike in forum :)

We understand that it’s frustrating that you’re unable to save your progress in Veteran Maelstrom Arena. This is actually due to the leaderboards and your score – currently, there’s no way to leave the area and come back without it affecting your score for the leaderboards, and any sort of fix we’ve investigated to decouple your progression from the leaderboard is actually much more complex to implement than it may seem. We are still exploring potential options, though.

This is understandable and fair if you look at vMA with only the leaderboards in mind.

However, most players dont care about the leaderboards, they care about the Maelstrom weapons and the achievement.

Reading the posts in the thread I think it would be best for both sides if there was a save function, making use of this save function should remove their score from the leaderboards.

This would also work as a safe net for crashes, loss of internet connection or unexpected RL matters.

Deltia said that he crashed in stage 7 on a no-death run once, stuff like that should not be the reason that you have to start all over again.

Hey. What is if you implement a hyprid solution.

    1. Your leaderboard score will published if you not use the save function. As like now you must finish the arena in one "socre trial".
    2. If you save the arena state and go out your "score trial" is broken and the score will be not published. You can finish the arena with all rewards, but you have no score.
    3. If you rejoin the arena you can choose 2 options: "Start new score trial" or "Start last saved arena"

You can inform us with an announcement if we restarted the arena -> "Score trial started, do your best blabla"
And you can inform us if we go out with an announcement -> "You went out of arena, your score trial is broken blabla"

I think this would be a good solution. For example i'm not interested into the ladderboard but i will complete the arena sooner or later. This save function would help me to get this target. And if im good enough i could try a "score trial" to get into the ladderboards.

So why don't you to vMA and practice while you have time, instead of wasting this time on forums?

Because practicing will only make you better at the lower arenas. I practised a couple of times and can easily get to the end boss within 2 hours, but by then I am exhausted and don't want to play any more.

This whole topic is really just about whether you think a game should be exhausting and push your whole body to its limits or if you think a game should be challenging but fun.

I want challenging and fun, so I am pro save function.

Esports is not like real sports. Prolonged periods of sitting combined with stress are quite unhealthy. I don't see why developers would base the difficulty of their content on this.

So 95% of people want the function but the LEET crowd reckon it would devalue their leetness ... ZOS listens to the latter.

    Yes.

But with a negative impact on the final score.

Agree. Save mode would be great to learn how to deal with arenas, but after some practice will no longer be necessary. No one will suffer from this, many will benefit.

Save mode would be great. Period.
Not everybody likes to play the same content for 2 hours straight.

Being able to save progress, would give the players the chance to do other content (a dungeon run, some pvp, a daily or two) and get back to the arena when they feel like without starting over

No, the developers designed it to not have a save function. All players need to adapt.

Because, as we all know, the ESO devs have never made a poor design decision before.

Saves should be allowed. I don't have hours to devote in a single sitting to learn each of the fights, and many others are in the same situation whether because of work, family, or other recreational activities. Vet Maelstrom Arena is solo content, and anyone should have the ability to complete all solo content, especially if you want casual players to stay in the game. The more people who play, the better future content can be hopefully.

For those worried about the leader boards, I don't think the top positions will switch much if they allow saves. The people at the top will not be knocked out of their positions by someone who spends an hour a day and saves their progress as they learn the mechanics and improve.

Is the problem that the timer keeps running so you end up with a lower score? It seems that most people who want a save are more interested in completions, and those who don't want to save care more about leader boards. A temporary fix could simply be to not worry about the score and allow progress to be saved the same as any other quest (unless the problem exists that people who leave get score boosts which would totally mess it up). The quest automatically updates on each level. Even if you leave the quest does not reset, so some of the programming already exists.

Yes because currently my stamina Templar gets absolutely wrecked in vma. I completed normal in one sitting but cannot get past the first one without dying numerous amount of times. But as I have learned over the past week or so is that I have wasted a lot of yellow mats getting max level gear.

This is the reason I am levelling another room purely for vma and pvp.

Yes, it should save progress and you should have one week to complete it from the time the leaderboard resets each week.

The stages are completely separate ordeals anyway. I don't see why it doesn't work this way. The way it works now is not accessible to people who have real life commitments.

There should be a cost to your score for Saving. Some of us don't have 5 hours minimum to struggle through in one sitting. Unfair on infrequent players. The quest saves so why can't your round with the option to continue or restart?
