    ...and until WoD comes out...

You do know CCP canceled World of Darkness... right? About a month ago?

WoD=Warlords Of Draenor. Please keep the terminology to a level....World of Darkness is the PnP RPG World name not the game name. Pirates are not a trend anymore...I want my eyes....

D'oh. CCP, the company behind EVE, had been developing a PvP focused MMO based on the WoD setting. It had been in and out of development hell for close to a decade. They finally deep sixed the project about a month ago, leaving some really nice screens and not a lot else.

I don't pay enough attention to WoW's expansion plans... so, you know, bad pattern recognition and all that.

If you actually read the entire post you would know I wasn't talking about... whatever you're talking about.

Well, it came in the paragraph were you were talking about MMOs that weren't WoW:
Oh yea and I played AoC, LOTRO, DnD:Neverwinter, and like every other "decent" or F2P mmo, and until WoD comes out and PvP doesn't totally blow, there's not another MMO out there that appeals to me, at all.

And, there was a heavily PvP focused Urban Fantasy MMO in development from the EVE guys called World of Darkness.

You know, the danger of excessive abbreviation.

@gronbek, they may have tried to do too much at once. It would be like a brand new online retailer listing tens of thousands of items on their website on day one trying to compete with Amazon or Wal-Mart.

Throwing this out there for discussion. This might sound like heresy given the DAoC lineage of the devs on this project but they should have left out Cyrodill from version 1.0. Instead 95% of the attention should have been on the pve side of the game to hook TES fans by including many of the items on your list. It's a safe bet that TES players don't play TES games for the pvp. :/ About pvp, not including a BG or two was probably a strategic error. Check the Allance Wars screen during peak times. There aren't very many players in Cyrodiil at any given time. It lends credence to the mmo conventional wisdom that pvp is not really the draw for a successful mmo, must less a subscription based one. They could have saved Cyrodiil for version 2.0 as an enhancement of the game and not as a central focus. Let's face it, Cyrodiil was never meant to be a viable leveling route. What percent of VR10's leveled to max level solely in Cyrodiil?

I mean, compared to certain other MMO titles out there what does TESO offer for the monthly cost? Not much in my opinion.
    - No housing
    - No auction house
    - No underwater swimming
    - No consequence system
    - No SLI support
    - Game design that totally break immersion in public areas
    - Broken loot
    - Good combat system
    - Non explorable areas, invincible walls.
    - Low res textures world objects
    - Limited endgame
    - Bots problem not solved, getting worse
    - No dedicated EU server
    - Bugs, too many

A rushed product incomplete in my opinion

I agree. Love the combat, but so many issues... Feel like this is a paid beta.

Its so blatantly obvious that you have never played another MMO from launch, and got nothing to compare with. By your standards is every other MMO ever launched still in beta..

I'm not defending Zenimax here but... name one major mmo that was in a superior state by this time after launch please. Even wow was a mess for months. I just went back and looked at my account history and there were 12 credits between my free month in 11/2004 and my first paid month because there was so much downtime and so many bugs. Wow still has major issues after each content patch to the point that no one raids on patch day. Not sure what you are expecting of a brand new mmo when a well established one can't even get it right on a patch.

The only mmo I can say was in a remotely better state shortly after launch was The Secret World but even that had bugs and lots of downtime.

If all those points bother you, then clearly this is not the game for you.

I'm quite happy with the game and I'm going to continue playing... but as the Romans tended to say : "de gustibus et coloribus non est disputandum"

You can't debate about taste and colors... or as Anglo-Saxons put it... to each his own
The statement "if you put enough monkeys behind enough typewriters... sooner or later one will produce the works of Shakespeare" has sadly been proven utterly wrong by the internet...

I myself am teetering on cancelling my sub for a month or longer, the enjoyment I got from the game has been seriously injured by many issues working together to sour my experience. I however still give ESO time to improve before I allow myself regret for wasting money on it.
I give them time until the NA release of Blade & soul, and then move on, see the 50+ euros spent on their product spilled milk and make sure none of my friends will make the mistake supporting zenimax products ever again, but that still is only if they do not manage to fix the botting issue, bugged skills and horrible stability issues in specific areas, or die a miserable death due lack of real players or take the money they made and run to Bahamas.

Until then I watch over, hoping them to improve, or at least try to do so. Can't say I keep my hopes too high because the more time passes the more this game is looking like a scam played on Bethesda to get their popular IP as a hook to steal money from the fans of the series.

I might be wrong, I hope I am wrong.

Guild Wars. Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me, but I don't recall having nearly as many issues at launch as this.

Which games do you compare ESO with?

No MMO has ever launched with those features, and most probably there will not be one either.

It is in the nature of MMO to introduce and patch stuff like that in, ive said it before and Ill say it again, Im glad they didnt have it all from the beginning, Im happy we got stuff to look forward too, that also gives me the opportunity to be a part of the development of ESO.

The thing is that ESO launched lacking many core functions of an elderscrolls game like stealing and underwater experience wich are race specific traits. Also the open world is a little fake due to invincible walls.

Also, because older MMO's have launched in a similar or even worse state does not mean ESO has to follow that route too. Why not release a complete elderscrolls experience? As an elderscrolls title it is severly lacking in my opinion and not worthy of a montly cost.

ESO was released half baked. Don't know what WoW was at release(dont care). However, I started playing MMO's with the launch of UO and tried numerous games.

Always been an elderscrolls fan and this game lacking in major areas is a disappointment. However, I hope Z knows their priorities and make it a "real" elderscrolls title.

Consumers want it and they want it now. Would you buy a smartphone that only had the same features as a cell phone introduced 10 years ago and wait for the manufacturer to upgrade the phone over time?

That's really irrelevant. It's what WoW has now that ESO doesn't have. And to charge us $15 a month subscription for an unfinished product that's really lacking some core functions really did it for me.

Yeah... this is actually a really good point.

It's easy to say, look at the condition of other MMOs when they were in the same position. I think I've even made that argument... for TSW and maybe STO. But, the problem is, right now, if I want to spend fifteen bucks a month on a game, I have a choice between WoW in it's current state (not sure what that state is, to be honest), TSW (which I loathe...), STO, DCUO, Champions Online... no, wait, sorry, Strike STO, CO, and TSW, I've got life subs in all of them, sorry. But, I do have choices with other, better developed games. I can go to STO right now, and play a game that's in better shape, or I can play TESO...

But, if I'm getting frustrated with all the poor design decisions, and incomplete elements in TESO... why would I want to spend fifteen bucks a month here?

GW2 had a good launch but the game in general was a dissapointment for any hardcore MMO player, the game had and has nearly no end game. It's a awful grinding situation in PVE (with no Raids) and it's PVP is not much different from ESO. The only good point of GW2 was it's leveling in which ESO does not back either. I had 3 end game characters in GW2, it was boring even after the fractals.

You are right - it feels wrong to pay a high box price+sub given the issues. GW2 for example had a reasonable box price, no sub and covered all the bases right out of the gate.

And despite all that, you are here. Posting in the ESO forums, not the GW2 forums. I played Zerg Wars 2 and I got what I paid for. I'm assuming you weren't there when the game launched. It was a major disappointment. Those facts, however, are irrelevant. The games are apples and oranges. Except guild wars would be a crab apple and ESO is a tangerine.

I played from launch, it didn't disappoint me at all. It was the best mmo I have played so far, especially in terms of pvp, and yet it was also very reasonably priced.

In terms of fruit I would describe GW2 as an apple that was ripe for the picking and ESO as a yet to be pollenated apple flower. Hope those bees pick up the pace a bit, especially considering they are charging premium rates for what is still essentially a promise.
