Combatting Gold Spammers on the Forums

    So.... that "name and shame" rule just applies to certain things some people do, not everything? Gold sellers are annoying and I wish they weren't around, but I wouldn't bother coming here to give their name, I'd just delete the msg and move on. There are people that are just as, if not more, annoying that are not selling gold, just being annoying to be annoying or rude to be little brat or doing things just in attempts to ruin others' fun and those are the names I'd like to know.

    I suppose I should have found somewhere else for this post since it contains no name of a gold seller. Sometimes I know it's best to keep my mouth shut, but I can't help it always, and even when I can, I can't stop my fingers from typing.

    This is the only exception to the name and shame policy, and even then only because the Goldsellers are using PMs to sell us gold, which is in violation of the TOS for both the game and the forums. Mind you it is an unofficial exception, based solely on the fact that the Mods aren't chastising anyone for naming them.

    As for just deleting the message, fair enough, I'm not going to criticise. o:)

    Just had a PM today - but checking the posters profile I think he's already been banned - although his PM is time stamped 8.27 pm today?

    User seems to be banned already.

    Really curious though how they came through this time. Is it a system flaw, or someone not paying attention? I would expect that CS people responsible for inviting to the forums, are well aware of the jibberish random letter names by now.

    Interesting...

    @ZOS_AlanG, May I ask how that happened? I mean why does it shows that you invite him to the forums? (not that you did of course, right?) My page doesn't show that at all, or even that Invited by tab.

    Well at least that leads to the conclusion, that it's not a single admin inviting those users, the guy that spammed me was invited by @ZOS_MichelleA

    I think it was an invitation OUT the forums.

    Might be a typo regarding who banned an account?

    Why do we have to take time out from playing the game to come here and post every time we get a PM from spammer? Why don't YOU have some moderators in the game busting these guys? It's pretty simple, just make an account with a typical user name and they will spam ya just like the rest of us.

    While I'm here though, why don't you guys make a simple 1 button gold spammer reporting button were we just click 1 button to report them and don't have to fill out some big long complicated form? Because I stopped reporting them after the first one because it took too long and was too much hassle.

    Same thing in chat, just make 1 click like you have for the ignore function. Really though you should have some moderators in chat so that we can just play the game that we are paying for.
    My concern can be measured in micro-give-a-craps.

    Thank you all for continuing to report these gold spammer accounts to us.

    Rest assured, @Iorail, the forum invitation notice you are seeing is normal -- this process changed between beta and live, so some forum accounts will not show "invited by" on the account page.

    I just received a message to my personal email address from the Elder Scrolls Community forums wanting to sell me gold. Now this is where I draw the line. When I start receiving personal emails from gold spammers through ESO's online forums, this is is clear violation of the terms of service. Who can I forward this email to.

    I have an interesting one, I got sent a PM that said "50 people". I opened it and saw the following;

    Now the following people had been added to this conversation;
    bndeclap_ESO
    bndahl02_ESO
    qmv.pham_ESO
    bndgeek012_ESO
    Dim_Mok
    dim4xxx
    DimwitTheWise
    bndnickbndb14_ESO
    JiiGaWiiGb14_ESO
    opusismeb14_ESO

    And 40 others I can't see. I'm assuming these are real players, but cannot be sure. I have at least never heard of them before.
    Regardless, this is the first time seeing conversations pop up and again I feel somewhat violated as I do not want my Account Name to be public information like that, if I am being added to other peoples PMs or gold spammer ones. It's one more detail out in the open they can use for hacking.

    Thanks for keeping the Witch Hunt open on these heretics.

    Just received e-mail in my personal account from a hacker/gold seller.

    Note: I only have subscriptions in game and Bethesda forum, there is no other way they could obtain information about my personal e-mail account that was not though Bethesda database.

    For the people saying that only received messages in the forum, check your spam directory.

    This is a very serious situation and yes, I already contacted customer support, although there is NOT an option there related to this in the drop down menu, I just filled a ticket in ACCOUNT/BILLING option with the generic other problem to be solved...

    BTW, the name of the sender is: djekewjrkew
