Do you think it's because with the VPN on, the server can't tell that you are not active ESO+ subscriber?

Yup. Same here. Multi guilds I am in have fallen apart because of members who are having this issue. We can't run raids anymore because we spend more time waiting for people to get back in the game than actually playing.
At least Thrones And Liberty launches today.
@ZOS_Kevin any update?

Let me know if you need a great guild! I have a top 100 one on the Sanctum server.

Players reporting issues today are from console or PC?
Tomorrow consoles will have server maintenance but PC got it yesterday - I hoped it would get fixed that way... Am I going to still see constant disconnections after tomorrow downtime?
Any PC player insight would be appreciated...

Yes - you will.

Not quite. Just done with zos mmos. zos single players, like skyrim and ghostwire, will still be hugely popular.
Just take a break. It sounds like most of you are having issues every single time you log in which is completely ruining your experience. Maybe it's time to just take a break from the game. I have alot of the same issues listed in this thread. But I mainly PvP so none of this is new. I usually just take breaks and play other stuff when it gets too frustrating.

Not to diminish the importance for those who do suffer the problems, but it's simply not the case that everyone is suffering them, far from it. That's probably why it's so difficult for ZOS to track it down, they may be unable to recreate it at their end. It seems to be a combination of where you play from (i.e. how you route your connection to the servers) and what content you do (i.e. PvP - especially Cyrodiil - and competitive PvE). Some say it is beginning to affect overland content but I've never experienced that myself.

Since patch 9.3.9 on May 5th, we've had 8 more patches, including a hotfix and an update. Still, the connectivity and latency problems persist.
Since then, we've had Explorer's, Zenithar's, Whitestrake's, Undaunted, and West Weald events. Thanks?
I'm doing the bare minimum to get some rewards in the event -- doing WW dailies on one toon out of 10 -- and then logging out. I'm avoiding random dungeons and trials because I know at least one person is going to DC in the process. Sure, you can say that people can just log back in, but I'm tired of twiddling my thumbs, waiting on the timeout so they can. It's not FUN, and isn't that supposed to be the point of a video game?
How does senior management at ZOS not make this the top priority? Continuing to not fix this is making Microsoft, Bethesda, and ZOS all look bad, like they have to keep pumping the content to keep the lights on, like if they divert to fix game-breaking bugs, they're going to go out of business. It's getting really old.

Im genuinely curious if Senior Leadership has even been briefed on this issue. It's fairly common for mid level leaders to silo this kind of stuff because they are afraid on the impact it can have on them. I'm not speculating that this is the case here - just saying this is very common in studios for this kind of info to never go past mid level people.

There are enough posts here, with videos, to show it is in fact hitting overland.

And another thing, as I think about it... I've been a full-stack developer for 30 years. When people have a problem with software I wrote not doing what I think it should be doing, I stop what I'm doing, and I fix it. You can say this problem is difficult. That's fine. It almost certainly is. But 1) it started at a known time, and you can start from there. And 2) ZOS absolutely has the resources to recreate any scenario they want or need in order to test patches to produce a fix. It's been FIVE MONTHS. If it were a priority, they would have fixed it by now. It speaks volumes as to the state of a game that barely registers on lists of MMO's by player count, and where I want to be spending my money.
XBOX EU - After today's maintenance I finally logged in at first try and been able to remain in game without disconnections for a couple of hours. To be fair I just did housing and trading, so nothing intense, and I still got worried during a long loading screen to my house, but at the moment it seems better for me. I'll see in the coming days.
Btw still no fix on consoles' broken new features, but that's a whole other thread.
