Does this mean the voucher buff is only applied to new writs DURING the event window? Or can you save the new master writs for after the event and still get double vouchers?

We noted this elsewhere but this was meant to be a surprise event. So we did not plan on announcing this in advance. We planned on having the article published when the event went live, but we then had some event issues that changed up the timing. We understand the rollout has been confusing and are working to address this in the future.

Since the 50% cost reduction in reconstruction of gear is no longer an option, can you increase the amount of transmutes at least? For example random dungeons yield 20 transmutes instead of 10. As someone who doesn't do Writs, and I'm sure many don't as well, that would seem fair. Thanks

Is there going to be an updated description for the event? I, like others, went to reconstruct some gear for half transmutes for it to not work and then had to come here to find out why.

Quite honestly, it was a cool idea and hopefully you all figure out a way to make it work. Initial roll out was poorly designed and poorly worded in the announcement. I do really hope it gets ironed out and becomes a staple random event thrown in.

Why would you not have it apply to all Master Writs? There's no way of knowing what's been earned when, and the devs should know by now that many people hoard them until events. You can't earn enough Master Writs in one weekend for this to be a truly rewarding event, especially if it's a surprise event. This really needed more time to bake.

Yeah, I'm still pretty upset about spending a bunch of money on writs, but with clear wording in the future, it would be a great random event ala Explorer's Celebration

I'm going to summarize my experience with this surprise event.

After logging in and seeing the announcement about the event and what it gives:
"Oh cool, double writ vouchers from master writs, I'll go ahead and do those master writs I've been slowly earning!"
"Oh even cooler, half price gear reconstruction, I'll go ahead and gear up some of my characters I've been meaning to set up with new builds!"
"Oh, and double node yields and it doesn't say survey nodes are excluded, I'll go and do the surveys that have been building up in my bank!"

After an hour or so:
"Wait, the double writ vouchers are only for master writs earned during the event. Which will be hardly any. Well, that's pretty useless."
"Oh, and they took away the half price gear reconstruction, so there's no point in rushing to gear those characters up now."
"And, of course despite it not saying so, survey nodes don't get double yields, so no point in doing those surveys now."

Way to get me excited about a mini event and then immediately take away everything I was excited about.

Yeah, my reaction to the Master Writs went from ‘Cool, I’ll clean some of those out this weekend!’ to ‘oh, I guess I need to spend all my play time this weekend doing Writs on all my characters hoping for drops if I want to meaningfully participate in this.’ It’s…not the reaction I think ZOS was aiming to foster.

I do appreciate they wanted to surprise us with the event, I do like the idea of a crafting event, I’m just disappointed in how it turned out.

While, overall, I agree… surveys have never, ever, ever been included as part of any double drop/double node event.

People think/assume/ask this every single event and the answer never changes.

My experience so far with the event:

Double writ vouchers only on writ vouchers produced during the event-
Somehow my account which usually produces 3-5 master writs per day has magically not given me any today...hmm.

The promise of %50 reduction on reconstruction cost on log in
Got removed before I was even able to decide what I wanted to reconstruct. Sure, there's a reduction on changing a trait still...but why would I want to do that for 25 stones when I could have done it for 12 with reconstruction.

Increased drops from harvest nodes (this does not include fishing or creature drops such as leather)
So with all of the event nerfs, this basically feels like the explorers event bonuses, but without the benefits of the explorers event...

Increased chance of receiving improvement materials such as Tempering Alloy or Mastic when deconstructing equipment of an appropriate rarity
I don't seem to be getting any more than I'd get on a normal day, we'll see

I don't really feel rewarded as someone who has invested time in crafting especially since I can't use my banked master writs to benefit me at all during this event.

I completed my weekly endeavor on Tuesday. When i logged in today i don't think i received the 20 writ vouchers that were added with this event. In fact i didn't even look since i was not aware of that award being added until i completed a daily endeavor.

For myself and anyone else who completed the weekly before this event, what can be done to fix this?

So why are surprise events even a thing then? It's pretty clear advanced notice is required, especially if most of the players are professional adults. You can say you understand the frustration, but seeing surprise events with issues, doesn't make me feel like that perspective's even being considered. Feels like a vicious cycle here, because this points keeps coming up. When you say you're "working to address this in the future", does that mean ZOS will be prepared to provide advanced notice on every event? Cuz that's what's being asked for.

ZOS uses the term "doubled" for extra rolls as well, like with Plentiful Harvest.

When you have PH slotted, you can get 7x of a mat from a single blacksmithing/clothing/jewelrycrafting/woodworking node. It isn't because you drew 3.5 and it doubled. It's because you drew 3 on one roll and 4 on the other.

It's possible the game is rolling twice and adding the values together to get an odd number for the writ voucher value.
