Not enough bag space even with upgrades

    Down side is that the Banks are Account wide, so you make a toon in another Alliance and you STILL have access to all items/limited space.
    If it was just Access for the toons in THAT alliance ok..... but feeding toons in another Alliance and limiting your collecting capacity in other realms.... that just pushing it.

    Managing your inventory is about prioritizing what you need and what you don't need. If you manage it properly, the current limits are fine.

    Again, as I pointed out previously in the first page several times, this really only applies to people who are playing a single character.

    I am currently leveling 2 characters, and I would like to start a third. Between the three I would like to be simultaneously leveling all professions at once(2-3 per character)

    However, that simply does not work. If i have a level 40 character, a level 25 character and a level 10 character for instance, all are using different tiered items and bags and banks get crammed ridiculously fast with these things. When you know you will be leveling another character, your instinct isn't to just sell everything you get or just not gather certain things, its to save.

    People who wish to leveling multiple characters at a time should they so choose should not be left out here. Trying to split one single bank that is the same size as each of my players inventories, which is not exceptionally large for an MMO between what will one day be EIGHT characters is going to absolutely suck. It isn't an issue right now at this very instant per se, but it will be for those who will end up in that boat(like me).

    In my opinion this system of limited bank slots is ok but it needs work. I would like to see some non shared bank slots for each character. Perhaps have it the same amount and cost as the shared bank. A different solution could be to make trophy items like a quest item and not take up slots. Or make the vanity pets a part of your stable. Some people have mentioned player houses, EQ2 had this and you could mount trophies in it (it was interesting). I do get frustrated with the limits to the bank space as it is, and I do use a couple mules to cache items. Using a mule however takes away from the time spent leveling and questing.

    A Guild House instead of a player house would be something that might work also. You could combine a different number of fixes into this one thing. Put in its own NPC's for both the store and bank, allow a player stash items into a chest (or Player's room), and it sets up a place for the guild to show off it's group accomplishments.

    A guild member recently achieved the 100 backpack slot upgrade.

    And found the 110 one available to him.

    I don't know the cap, but I'm betting 100 slots is good enough, and not terrible to get to. If it goes to 150, then I'll be a REAL happy player.

    As for the bank... I'm hoping it also goes to 100 slots, but have not invested much in that yet.

    I agree with the OP. I enjoy leveling my crafters as I level and gather materials. Enchanting alone has eaten a ton of my bank space because I have a ton of one type of stone and find it very difficult to find another. Should I discard them not yet knowing what they do? Maybe I should throw out all the trait gems? or upgrade items? I also don't understand how it's supposed to work if you can only focus on certain crafts at a time. Does this mean in the future I will be taking a higher lvl character back to lower lvl areas to farm materials for crafts I now have the space to level? How annoying for new players.
    I understand the work-arounds with mules and such but at some point the tedious outweighs the enjoyment.

    I believe that the loot system could use some work and allow more spots, but its the first week and there are so many complainers. Deal with it. Post on the forums that you want more space and move on. Just like I am.

    ESO I would like a little more default space please.

    This could be a doable thing for ESO. You get a separate shared access bank exclusively for crafting mats and another for vanity items (treasure maps, trophies, pets, etc.) Each slot has a stack limit. Any overage stays in your inventory to be allocated elsewhere (mule, general bank space, whatever).

    There's been some misinformation floating around about GW2's storage: that it had infinite bag space. From my experience, I had to purchase additional bag space and form a bank guild to manage my items after a year of subscribing. GW2 has more space but it's not an "infinite" amount.

    Most of the stuff I have on one character can be used by another character. For the rest, the other character has his own inventory. And unless you plan on having 8 dedicated crafting characters, you can create a mule or two for some additional space.

    My 2c:

    Inventory space needs fixing.
    Pets should not require inventory space. Please make them like the stable.
    If materials are going to take up bank space we need:
    More bank space
    or
    A separate tab for materials
    or both.

    I think the player inventory space is adequate, the bank space is woefully lacking.

    As the OP I'm glad to see a lot of responses to this thread. To all those who gave extensive and lengthy instructions and descriptions on how to micro-manage your inventory... thank you and I will try your suggestions. But I think your missing my point. I don't want to do any of that. I want to quest, have some good fights, explore, adventure, dungeon dive and do PvP in Cyrodill with my friends, and be able to do the crafting when I get a chance. NOT when my inventory gets full and my bags tell me its time to spend a half hour in the closest city micro-managing my bags and crafting supplies. Sure, I play MMO's and I know that some time will need to be spent managing my inventory and crafting if I ever want to be good at crafting and making gold in the Trading guilds. But why do I have to do in NOW...all the time.

    I get to do one or two small quest chains and boom full bags 80/80. Time to go to the bank/merchant/crafting area and spend 45min managing inventory.

    Will it get better as i level...I hope so, it needs to. But why does my low level toon need to spend as much time having fun as micro-managing my inventory?

    I'm just going to dump all my stuff into the guild bank and hope its use full to others. This is the least fun option I can think of though and that blows. I would love to be able to save all my mats and then get to em when I have time to spend figuring out the crafting/inventory stuff.

    TLDR: The crafting/inventory micro-management system currently in place is just not what I consider fun.

    I'm finding myself maxed on bag space a lot as well and I am only doing Blacksmithing and Provisioning. What people seem to forget is that you MUST keep those green items by type and trait in your bags/bank until you can research again. So for me just focusing on Swords/Daggers and Chestpieces for traits it still eats up a good amount of room.

    The biggest offender though for bag space is really and truly Provisioning. The number and variety of ingredients is staggering once you get to T2 and until you get past that tier and have at least "enough" recipes you never know what to keep or destroy. If anything I would love to see just a separate storage allocation for the provisioning ingredients as there are so many compared to the other crafting professions.

    I'm currently doing crafting with Woodwork, Clothing and Blacksmithing. I have 90 Backpack spaces, I'm not experiencing any problems with bag space due to Gathering the raw materials. I have 3 different types for each one, that leaves me 81 free spaces! when I refine the materials they go straight into my bank, when I exceed 100 of one refined stack I sell the excess.
    All of the trait Gems I also keep in the Bank.
    I have 3 Alts who do cooking, Enchanting and Potions, these skills are space intensive and can only be done solo, although I think the demand for these will be greater than any other skill...
    I personnally think that the space we have is correct, this means people who want to craft can excel and those who have other priorities will rely on the crafters that can specialise. This will mean a thriving crafting community, otherwise its just a solo game.

    Those saying "manage your inventory" either are not crafting or just haven't played this game much yet.

    There is simply NOT ENOUGH inventory space no matter what you do. Even if you just wanted to do provisioning and alchemy you will be full all the time. Having to run back and forth to a town to craft every half hour or less and stack things in your bank is immersion breaking and annoying. It discourages crafting and I cannot imagine why they would want to do that.

    The Dev comments about the Hoarders TV Show while amusing, are not very helpful. You made a crafting system with a crap-ton of components. Alchemy has 18 reagants, as well as the base ingredient. Provisioning, has God knows how many. I think there are more than the bag space. Having to create "mules" is completely immersion breaking and ridiculous for an RPG. There should be crafting bags. This is a no brainer.

    This is something that folks should keep complaining about, ignore the non-crafters and fanboys, so that maybe they will hear us and re-evaluate. Serious crafters will not play this game long in its current state.

    Just because 1-2 games introduced unlimited crafting banks and such doesn't make it ok for every game to have it. Most people that complain about this haven't even gone past the lvl 20 mark and even less have reached level 50.

    The phenomenon of not having enough bank space is not new. It's been there in most games and it actually takes a level caped char to be able to expand it fully. The system is clearly built to scale with the player and fully utelized at lvl 50.

    How about everyone looks at it from a more objective standpoint. Not every MMO out there has to be generalized just beacuse some players can't learn to adapt.

    i highlighted this in the feedback forms time and again, and what do we get at launch?? a huge pile of maps that take up about 20 bank slots. . i mean come on most things like maps can be copied into a journal where u go to read them,, i mean they might as well go the whole hog and make us carry around all the skill books we read or lose the skills.. just to be ultra annoying.

    I agree with what others have said, I have played many MMO's some free, some p2p and this game by far has the worst inventory system, it is way too limited and restricted resulting in frustration.

    It's fine as it is, keep only what you can use now. Don't store things 'you might use later'. One exception would be things beyond your skill level.

    Remember...all thats tuff you are storing, next trip you will likely either bring back better stuff or make better items.

    Just because 1-2 games introduced unlimited crafting banks and such doesn't make it ok for every game to have it. Most people that complain about this haven't even gone past the lvl 20 mark and even less have reached level 50.

    So.... I have to reach max level before I can enjoy a game?
    If people aren't having fun early on, they will stop playing. Do you think the devs want a mass exodus?

    Yes. I'm sure if the current system stays in place that's exactly what people will do. Problem solved for them, but that doesn't help ESO to be successful.

    I'm glad you guys aren't devs. The reason other MMOs have been successful is because they listen to their players and adapt their game to make it fun enough people keep playing. This isn't WWII Germany. People have a choice to play or not.

    I think the devs would rather people continue to play.

    The biggest problem I've ran into with bank/inventory space is, as others have mentioned, provisioning. I'm simply going to scrap that craft entirely and just buy whatever consumables I want. The amount of space that single craft requires is absurd, and I can't justify using it for consumables I can just buy.

    The trait and racial items for the weapon/armor crafts take up a bit of space, but they are shared among 3 different crafting trades. I think the amount of items I've collected so far for provisioning (and that's just up to level 13 in only the AD area) take up more space than those 3 combined.

    Some space dedicated to just provisioning would likely alleviate a huge portion of the issue.

    Now I dont want unlimited space but I want a little bit more freedom that the system allows now. Currently I feel like bag space dictates my gameplay choices but not in a constructive or satisfying way. (the CE Maps certainly dont help things)

    It would be a different story if all our alts didnt share all the same spaces.

    Been playing mmos since mmos were created. been waiting for this game for over a year. It pains me to see there might be inventory problems. One of the biggest silent killers of a mmo is players having to do a lot of inventory management, I know I have quit multiple good mmos because of the small inventory space and the pain of having to work at managing inventory instead of being able to play and enjoy the game. Hope its not as bad as you guys make it sound.

    It mostly depends on what you are doing with your inventory, if you are a resource gather, provisioner, or trying to do multiple crafts with your characters it can be a bit of a hassle, but if you are going for playing with the basics of crafting to get you by, you should have no problems with inventory. You start off with 60 bank slots for the account, and 60 slot for personal inventory per character. First upgrade for personal inventory cost 400 gold. I believe first upgrade for bank is a 1000 gold. Plus once you have a horse you can increase they carry capacity for 250 a day for 1 inventory slot.

    My major gripe is that pretty much every hour I need to go back to a town to manage my inventory. Even a method to transfer materials to my bank without running to a town would be an improvement otherwise I spend half my time managing my inventory as opposed to playing. What started out as a minor annoyance is quickly becoming a major problem which is also being echoed by my parter.

    If you like to craft at all, then yes it is bad. It is very immersion breaking and annoying.

    Just be careful if you want to keep the mailed items as I think the message expires after 30 days.

    I agree that inventory space is too limited. With no auction house (and i'm not complaining about that) crafting becomes more useful. Which means focusing on just one crafting profession at a time doesn't seem so practical. Not to mention it would be kind of stupid to run around an ignore the crafting materials you find simply because i'm only focusing on one profession.

    Each character needs to have some dedicated bank space. And there needs to be more space for crafting materials. There's just way too many materials for some of the professions. And it's damned annoying having to go back to the bank every hour or two to filter my inventory.

    hell - i can't even open up the bonus treasure maps because they would take up way too many inventory slots. I don't know why those maps don't just get put into a map 'book' or something instead of taking up inventory slots.

    Here's how I'd like to play:
    • Loot what I can loot.
    • When back in town, put into bank what I want to keep, sell, trade or take apart the rest.

    Obviously, ESO is not for me. I can't just loot everything because the sheer amount of provisioning mats overwhelms my inventory, constantly. So, how does ESO feel:
    • I can't trade the stuff I want to trade because to me, the whole "guild-store" thing is vastly inferior to any auction house ever implemented in an online game. Possibly including vanilla D3.
    • I can't keep what I feel I might need later on, because it's just too much.
    • I can't sell what I looted because I can only vendor it for zero gold.

    This is by far the worst experience with loot I've had in any MMO, ever. Either I stop looting the stuff that's out there and feel like I'm potentially missing out on things, or I loot and I'm spending more time managing my inventory than questing. Or I switch off auto-looting and make gameplay less convenient.

    As it stands, the current system is a lose-lose-lose situation for me. Couple that with quests not working, corpses not being lootable again and again, dungeons not working, mail and guilds being deactivated, grouping woes and I actually do start to wonder why I'm supposed to pay a monthly fee here. I could just as well mod Fallout a bit and have fun playing that.
