Gankers and 1v1ers can't take "no" for an answer?

This has happened too many times. Me and my friends do cyrodiil town quests in various campaigns. Of course we come across gankers, but the gankers get wiped by us. The dead gankers then message me 9/10 times (probably because my gt is easy to spell) to 1v1, I politely refuse, then they raise hell in my inbox, getting salty saying "lol trash", "I can kill all of you in a 1v1" yea no one cares.

We just want to get these quests done, and will kill anything that gets in our way. I've had to block many people from messaging me, which is my personal solution to this. But seriously, why can't y'all take no for an answer?

They try and gank you, lose. Then want to 1v1. lol. Got to love that mentality.

I know how that feels, the same thing happens to me often. Sometimes when I kill them, they message me and want a dual; then tell me that I suck. I respond with something like "I just killed you, now go away".

I was out questing the other day, and was thinking "Why do people complain about gankers when doing quests? I had been questing for 2 hours and not once did someone try and gank me." Then towards end, I got ganked. Then I seen a few members from the other alliance in a cave, and one waved at me. I put my weapons away, and as I was getting the skyshard the other player killed me". That kind of sucked, but that is what happens when I travel alone.

I gank, at times, although if I die it was my own fault. People you countered that did this had little respect for your victory over them.

Ego is why. A ganker's ego is greatly marred when they attempt a gank and get themselves killed in the process.

They either underestimated your skill, overestimated their skill, or didn't bother really scouting out the situation before engaging you and your group. It is possible to gank a group but you have to have a solid plan of action before you engage.

Nothing hurts a ganker's ego more than them messing up... the rage tells are just their way of dealing with the humiliation.

I'm still stuck on their reasoning as to why one would sit for hours in pvp waiting for pvers. Ganking people questing sounds like the most boring thing to do in pvp.

I don't know man I've had people call for 1v1's on me and I almost always indulge. They usually end up being pretty cool after you duel. Most people just do it to get a rise out of you. I run solo 90% of the time anyway so when someone tries to gank me I don't mind. I'm looking for PvP anyway.

This is actually part of the bigger problem I am seeing with pvp. There are a lot of players who love dueling, small scale, or uncoordinated combat. Many of them are very good players - a lot better than most players who roll around in zerg balls. The problem is you only have a pvp environment that supports large scale combat, with an increasing emphasis on group play only.

Where do those players go to pvp if you are going to eliminate those play styles entirely? Most will quit. I know I haven't logged in in a few days because it's not really enjoyable anymore. Players who don't want to play as a zerg or group are increasingly being forced out. It is shameful and looks really bad on the ESO community and I believe it will be what kills the game.

Looks like a ganker got beat at his game by sheer numbers and thinks that he somehow deserves a "fair" 1v1 fight for some reason. I'd probably ignore him and move on. Get classy gankers. If you're ganking properly, why would you pick a fight with 4+ people and lose?

My guild has been implementing some anti ganker strategies on pvp nights lately and it's been hilarious. We share rage tells back and forth whenever we trap a ganker.

I've also got a new anti ganking build that I use specifically for baiting solo gankers. 55k hp, maxed defenses and a 10k perma shield. I can't kill a kitten with the build but I have had gankers try to take me down for 5 minutes then just give up and walk away or if they choose to stick around too long, reinforcements show up and finish the job.

It's not so much a ganker personality, it's the superior personality that the ganker had. They felt they should have won. They need to prove they can still win. By denying them that, they resort to name calling/trash talking.

Arenas will solve this problem when they are implemented. I can't wait until I can queue up for small scale combat... wandering around trying to bait out gankers gets just as boring as rolling around in a zerg ball does.

The only time I get messaged for 1v1s from gankers is basically because they are trying their build out which is really the only reason I would ever gank. Most of the time they just come back after you kill them but try to be sneaky about it such as when you are fighting npcs or turning in quests.

I have a ton of hilarious ganking stories! They happen quite often with this patch being about OP Nightblades and all (which they really aren't).

My Lvl19 Hybrid Templar engaged in an interesting 1v2 against two Magicka Nightblades yesterday in front of Alessia Keep. They GANKED me by the road between Alessia Keep and Alessia Bridge. Thought I was going to die, but soon realized that they weren't used to having someone experienced fight back. Lol! Long story short, I killed both of these (lvl 30-40) Magicka NBs.

They continued to respawn at the keep, where I waited patiently away from the road. After killing them each twice, they came with a stamina nightblade. Too much to handle, I quickly killed the Stamina NB, then ran underneath Alessia Bridge and jumped across the river full of slaughterfish. They jumped in the river to follow me, so I used Reflective Light on them (-60% movement speed) and they drowned. Immediately I recieved messages about my Breath of Life (not even the right morph) making me a noob and that if I didn't use it they could each 1v1 me. I ignored them, and continued to use my totally OP mostly-Stamina Templar build with "BoL" when killing them. Fun times.

1v1s dont prove a thing, they really don't. they can show you if your build is decent, but in regards to which player is better, it does not. A player that is built towards 1v1s(which many gankers are) will do better in that scenario than someone who built themselves to play in a different scenario. There are too many variables to consider.
you already proved you were capable by killing said ganker WHEN THEY HAD THE ADVANTAGE OF SURPRISE, a 1v1 will prove nothing at that point.

this was in blackwater blade wasn't it? it's likely that they were people new to the game who hopped on a NB because people keep calling them OP.

NBs really are not OP, not in the slightest, they fall to pressure faster than the other 3 classes. I was killing NBs when I came back from a 3 month break, more than any other class. It really is not an OP class, and certainly wont be come next month.

Well I can give u a reverse example of your story...

I've been solo'ing on my lowbie Stamblade in BWB recently. Being at CP cap and rich enough to spend extravagently on lowbie gear gives me quite an advantage over most opponents. However with the way that gap closers work, I do still get zerged down quite often if I get too cocky.

Anyway although I don't run a ganking build, I am not averse to attacking from stealth with the element of surprise. On Thursday night I tried to ambush a group of 4 enemies trying to capture a friendly resource. I was mistimed my attack and the flag flipped just as I jumped in... so I got wrecked pretty rapidly, with an enemy NB landing the KB with Killer's Blade. Blaming my defeat on the NPCs I rushed back, this time accompanied by a few randoms... I tried to focus the NB that killed me since NBs are usually squishy and easier to burst down, but he went toe to toe with me until his allies killed my allies and they killed me again.

I whispered him to duel me because I was surprised by how hard it was to kill him and thought it would be interesting to fight another good player who didn't just spam snipe or ambush. He accepted, I won and we proceeded to have a friendly discussion about builds and tactics. It was fun fighting an opponent who did something a bit original and executed it well enough to give my cookie-cutter build a good challenge even 1v1.

Anyway... i guess my point is that not all gankers are a$$holes and not all dueling challenges are about ego, revenge or whatever.

@Cody Yes it was Blackwater Blade, once my favorite balanced-stats server before Orsinium patch :(

I thought the same at first. One of them said that he could "own me on my V16" as well though. I went to their profiles and looked at their trophies afterward. Certainly not new players which made it kinda funny, although you do bring up a good point.

As for the state of Nightblades, THAT is a sad story. These forums have practically gutted Cloak now! I love the change where you only suppress DoTs, but changes to revealing them are ridiculous and almost ruin the skill. I liked the rogueness of Nightblades, and suppressing DoTs was enough of a rebalance considering how easy it is to already pull them out of cloak (I know how difficult it is to cloak without shadow image from good players). If a NB wants to run there are so many ways to catch them, and chances are they are running because if caught, they are dead.

More commonly the other way around lol.

Ganker kills a dude(that's busy with NPC's, mounted or another player) with some cheesy sneak attack combo.

Dude gets furious and sends ganker rage tells "1v1 me trash newb blah exploiter".

Ganker doesn't want to. Ganker has 5k weapon power, no recovery, dies from a sneeze and there's no way he can fight 1v1 in the open. Dude gets no 1v1 and mounts up, still insanely mad. Ganker insta-kills him all over again, whispers "L2P" and puts furious dude on ignore before he gets a chance to respond
