While I love the concept of the upcoming Imperial City area, I do see some big issues with the way it is implemented...

For instance, right now, it isn't possible to join a PvP server if one of your toons is in the opposing faction. So if I have multiple guilds. One is PvP oriented on Haderus and the other one is PvE oriented and wants to run the Imperial City new dungeons on Haderus. If my PvP character happens to be in the PvP guild I won't be able to play with my PvE focussed character on that server because of it.

Also the entrance to the Imperial city will not always be accesible, especialy on servers with faction minorities. Do you realy except the PvE players to rush in PvP with a group of maybe 12 players taking all inner forts?

Finaly, the price is very expensive... 25€ for a single area, that's asking a lot for very little...

to be honest, i think the Imperial city DLC should be free (at least for people who have been there since the begining) as it is a major part of the game universe (i know those people will get it free anyway, but i am also saying everyone should as well, as i say... it is a major part of the game's world!)

Will we be able to get telvar stones from deconstructing items gathered from running vet dungeons scaled to vr15-16?

    I've stated my issues elsewhere.

    1. Those who play both NA and EU are required to pay for this twice.
    2. The pvp gauntlet just to get to IC discourages many of those who don't pvp.
    3. The ability to lose hard won currency feels unfair to me.

From what I've been reading the Imperial City is basically PvP, right or wrong ?. The reason I'm asking is because I don't PvP, never have never will. So if there is no straight PvE content you won't be seeing me there.

I pay a sub, I support the game that way because I really like the game but if they are going to start adding more PvP and less PvE then I will be out of here. It just seems to me that they are slowly turning ESO into more of a PvP game. I'm probably wrong but it's just a feeling I have.

It is in a PVP area, but it is both PVE and PVP and the two are mixed together. Some areas are PVP and PVE at the same time, with both Alliance and NPC enemies there.

They have neglected the PVP portion of the game for too long. It is time for the PVP people to get something and for the PVE people to nod in approval. The last two areas added to the game were PVE and almost all content since then has favored PVE play at least as much as PVP play.

    I am a PVE player.

This is true as far as it goes. Looking at the divide purely between PvP and PvE, PvP has not had content updates in a longer time and so IC being about PvP is pleasing.

However, I would query Craglorn being classed as a PvE update rather than as group/competitive-PvE content. While it is possible to solo a fair amount of Craglorn there are sections of the primary quest chain there that require grouping. That changes the complexion of the thing.

I have also raised concerns about the crafting that has been integrated into IC. Before now, the ability to craft certain sets or collect certain materials hasn't favoured a particular play style. Unless the materials, at least, become available in other content updates (such as Orsinium) as raised in my question above then I am less than happy about this too.

If we can take a brief pause from all the whining and carrying on for a second and actually ask relevant technical questions, I have three..

    1. How big is this DLC in size (GB?)

    2. How big is Update 7 that's being released in Parallel with it (GB?)

    3. Is the DLC being applied through the Launcher or available from a separate Repository (Like the Launcher Executable in the Account Page), hence taking the bandwidth load off the Servers in a more distributed fashion and not congesting traffic for both into one source.
@hamgatan My belief is that they will be technically inseparable. By which I mean, the answer to question 1 is "0 GB" and the answer to question 2 is "x GB" (which will hopefully be answered in the Patch Notes). The download of "Update 7" will include all the Imperial City content, but it will only be accessible if you've got your sub/paid your Crowns.

That's correct. Remember that even though Imperial City (the area) will be inaccessible in the event that you don't purchase it, you'll still be able to purchase items that are sold from other players that they may have gotten in Imperial City. Also, we don't have an exact size of the patch yet, but expect it to be fairly sizable.

@ZOS_GinaBruno Hmm...if that's the case, are there any plans on setting up a prepatch for the Imperial City update before it does get published to the Live megaservers?

So aside from the problems with this update, Legendary grade item sets having to be rebuilt for any one that cares for 2 measly vet levels they are retiring (*** lol) anyway, the primary focus on pvp instead of fun things like weapons or classes or completing the changes to the Vet levels, and everything else I have only one real issue with this update...

telvar stones collected by players in the IC to craft sweet new content gear etc can be stolen by other players in pvp. I hate bloody pvp, some people like it and that is great but I should not be forced into being beat to shite so some pvp player can steal all of my hard earned mats.

This is what will happen if that system works as advertised, I promise you:

The fantastic pvp players, of which there are quite a few, hunt and kill everyone else to collect their stones. Everyone else then has limited access to gear and unlimited access to being pissed off at getting ganked by people they really have no desire or reason to fight, and no real chance of winning against.

The fantastic players have crazy gear and dominate through skill (because they are good and they like practicing) and because they have better shite than the vast majority of other people trying to play in the IC.

That is such a horrible, stupid idea if you are trying to balance out a game. Why would 90% of the players forced into PVP (if you want the gear) like that? I hope this works better than advertised. Such a shame.

So what happened to the promise Zenimax made that The Imperial City was gonna be free?!
You just can't trust Zenimax I guess...

The Imperial City was never promised to be "free".

The Imperial City is, was, and always has been, said to be included with your paid ESO subscription. You can quibble over B2P and that you are not required to pay a subscription, but the fact remains that it is included with the current ESO Plus subscription, just as it was intended to be included in the old ESO subscription. This has been a constant that has not changed.

What has changed is that now you do not need to subscribe and you can purchase Imperial City using Crowns. Before Tamriel Unlimited, if you did not want to subscribe, you did not get to play. You did not get Imperial City. You did not get anything. Pay or go home. Thanks to the change in business model, you get to choose whether to subscribe. Choose to subscribe, you get Imperial City as part of that subscription, same as before. Choose not to subscribe, you get the option of buying Imperial City outright or playing without it.
I think this DLC should be free to any that had an account and paid a subscription before the switch to buy to play. It is the right thing to do.. Or at least give those same people a window of a week to claim it for free.

    Why?

I can think of two reasons to not do this.

    1. Whenever ZOS attempts to reward past participation, it does nothing but create dissent. Even though they do it to be nice, it is widely rebuked by vocal players. There is always a cutoff, and there is always someone on the wrong side of that cutoff. Look at all of the exclusive Senche offers over the last 6 months and the people begging to be included in those offers after the fact. It will be 100x worse with Imperial City.

    2. It was always intended to be included in your subscription and it still is. If you dropped your subscription under the old plan, you did not get Imperial City. Imperial City was never something that was gifted, it was always included with the recurring subscription. The terms of that offer have not changed. Subscribe to ESO Plus, get the Imperial City at no extra charge, just as it was before B2P. Or.... do not subscribe and buy it separately, something new with B2P that gives you the option.

Well its pretty damn simple, if you subbed long enough for a senche tiger then you should receive the dlc for free, Those people payed there fair share, way more then any console gamer playing this game.

Make it so that you can get tel var stones in Orsinium when it comes out, and I'm more than down with that. I agree to some extent that PvP has been sorely neglected. However, if the only way to get V16 gear is by going through Cyrodiil and getting ganked? (And you KNOW that is exactly what's going to happen.) Heck with that noise.

still a lot of un answered questions here Zenimax!... Figures i guess!

A lot of promises broken buy you guys already *once we go free to play this game will never be P2W (it kinda already is!... potions... xp scrolls... pledge of Mara (whats 10% xp?... but still!)

Now you want us to pay for MORE content you promised us we wouldn't have to?

Also, you lie about what *Account Bound* means... If you buy crowns on EU and then crowns on NA... they STACK!... then how come you have to buy the adventure/imperial packs (ANYTHING ELSE) twice... if you switch servers??? (even though it uses the same account!)

My point is unrelated? not really because its right here... Imperial city is a massive (if not the main) part of this games universe and we have to PAY for it??? oh and guys... guess what? if you have premium and get the DLC... if your premium ever runs out, you cannot play the DLC AT ALL!!!! until you get premium back HAHAHA... what a way to keep your promise of NON P2W!!!!

I hope the Imperial City encourages players into at least trying pvp, you know there's only so many times you can play a game of chess against a computer until you figure out it's mechanics, I think having the pve/pvp mix will make it unpredictable and force players to stay on there toes.

Something along the lines of fixing an issue where you could get over a closed scroll gate by using an ability on one of the guards on top of it.

@ZOS_GinaBruno Since Crowns are account-wide, and Store purchases are usually server-bound, does that mean you will have to pay for IC twice to play it on both servers?

Muahahahahah! For all you pve'ers who dont want to go to IC for the new loots and mats, it'll be my turn to jack up prices. I hate pve so I choose to buy items that I want from pve zones. You dont want to go to a pvp zone? Youll have to pony up some gold....lots of it! Payback is a *** =P. Which brings up the issue of pvp vs pve. I bought this game knowing it would have both pve and pvp. It was my choice to enjoy all things pvp and bypass as much pve as I could. Im sorry you dont like pvp but that is part of what this game has always been. Theyve stated BOE items and crafting mats can be sold or traded so there are alternate means of acquiring these items. BOP items you may have to live qithout until you give pvp a try. Personally, I havent given endgame pve a try so I miss out on those items, but the option is available. Same goes gor pve'ers

As for people concerned with the cost...there have been countless logical explainations written by fellow players in this thread. And please atop calling yourselves loyal customers. The ONLY way you ppl would have an issue with purchasing the DLC would be those who discontinued their sub. Which, imo, isnt a gesture of loyalty.

Anyways, super excited and cant wait for release.

So wait... there is already an imbalance in PvP, and that imbalance is only going to increase as champion points increase. So these ridiculously powerful players that everyone ALREADY *** about will just be able to roam around IC and kill people, taking their stone and preventing them from getting the new / better gear? Or what's to stop a zerg doing the same thing?

For that matter, who gets the stone drops? does just one person, or does everyone who contributed to ganking that person get a copy of the stone stack? That would make farming people a lot more efficient than anything else.

Really getting tired of forcing PvX on those that aren't interested in that game type. Separate out your systems please, if you plan on having both in your game.

    This.

I am perfectly ok with the notion that not all content in an MMO is going to cater to everyone (such as me with PvP focus content). But I am glad to see new content to keep a portion of the community involved with the game and keeping it alive.

However, I am appalled at the notion that I will be penalized for dying in PvP in the form of having my "hard earned" stones taken from me. You give ZERO incentive for those new to PvP to try this system out, thus no reason to buy this expansion from you.

As much as I feel PvP needs a better reward system, taking from those of us who... simply suck at it and/or are new... is the worst idea you could have done with this expansion. You are catering to gankers and elitists. I will have no part of this.

If these stones are the only real way to acquire higher level gear with this expansion, then you're not getting any money from me on this one

Totally disagree with you here, pvp actually having a risk/reward component is LONG overdue. Youre also exaggerating- theres going to be dungeon gear drops and other gear drops that are vr 15-16, the non dungeon gear can also be sold. Whats really up for grabs in pvp are the stones which are a portion of the overall imperial city adventuring rewards. New pvpers have plenty of incentive to enter imperial city - stuff that cant be found outside with the zerg. The tradeoff being they might lose SOME of the loot (tel var stones). Players who want those limited tel var stone sets and hate pvp can just buy them - its pve content where sets are locked to those who complete the content via BOP.
