Players Need More Control Over Justice System Choices

I remember in Oblivion, I would, completely by accident, steal a loaf of bread or some other item of no importance when talking to a character, and, all of a sudden, there would be a fully armored imperial legion guard behind me, he says:

STOP RIGHT THEREEEE LAWBREAKER! YOUR SPREEEEE IS AT AN END. i'LL CONFISCATE ANY STOLEN GOODS YOU HAVE, THE NEXT MOVE, IS YOURS. PAY YOUR FINE, OR I'LL HAUL YOU AWAY.

I then respond with an "F*** you!!!!"

the guard says "THEN PAY WITH YOUR BLOOD!!!"

next thing I know, I have all of the imperial legion in cyrodiil looking for me, over a loaf of bread. while there were daedra invading tamriel from gates directly outside the cities.

ah.... good times, good times:)

That doesn't apply to stealable items that aren't in containers, such as food and beverages sitting on tables or crates, which can be found right next to many merchants, and which can easily be stolen by accident when NPCs move or due to the dodgy way the cursor behaves in third-person view.

A proper solution would be to offer an option that simply doesn't allow stealing at all, and so far there hasn't been a single sensible argument against doing so posted in these forums.

this reminds me of wow, i dont like flying, soo no one should fly! its ruins mmos! oh wait next FF expansion is ADDING flying....second most succesful aaa sub based mmo out there? no way...

pretty simple solution, instead of wasting developer time, how about just dont steal stuff, or heal criminals....ya guys remeber how much you loved the minimalist ui no addons ect? you wanted to be immersed, sooo pay attention your immmersive world.

maybe they should remove fall damage too? im too busy looking at my map to atch where my horse is going sooo remove fall damage plox

Bringing Justice

If I may be forgiven for indulging in a bit of necromancy, I've noticed a distinct reduction of stealable items next to some merchants, guild vendors and bankers. It's not a total elimination, but some of the worst situations have definitely been changed, which is a distinct improvement.

Whoever is doing that, thanks for doing that, and please keep doing that.
