AI, if it is anything like the AI generated illustrations of historical and real life events as seen on YouTube, I can't say that I am overly impressed.

Just like it was in the late 80s when new professionals used the power of adobe illustrator to make dinosaurs of the extremely talented and well trained professionals who used traditional methods.

The shape of the paintbrush may change, but it's still the artist who has always been the creative force behind each design. With the advent of AI, how much of that will still be true? How much slimmer will the workforce be? We know how allergic corporations are to costly labour, so unless workers are protected by third party actions, we will have probably have a crisis on our hands before long.

In any case, I'm talking about my, the consumer's, perspective. Having quality acting, inspired stories, and characters who resonate is the most important thing in a game for me. Not so much the graphics, though sure, good graphics helps. And so far, what I've seen from AI has solidified my suspicions that creativity is better left in human hands.

A pop locked Grey Host is normal. The fact that PvP populations have been slashed is just further evidence of decline, because even with slashed populations, Blackreach wasn't close to being full for most of the day. Imperial City used to fill up during these events, and you could find pretty large groups in the added IC campaigns. This year even the main IC is getting like 1 bar per faction... that's a massive difference.

Also this isn't unique to PC NA, I was curious and checked the Xbox NA population bars at various points in the day and it was the same story.

I understand. There’s a significant amount of players who participated in Midyear Mayhem in the past, but didn’t participate this time though.

I’m not sure if they quit or what, but it’s a very noticeable drop off. It’s pretty interesting to see from a game design perspective. I’m wondering what’s led to such a dramatic change this time.

This isn't the mic drop you hope it is. Anybody who PvPs on a regular basis knows the population is next to nothing compared to past MYM events. There was a time when U50 was pop locked during this event. Blackwater Blade days. When you don't need to queue into an alternate campaign while waiting to get into GH, there is no need to present data. It's crystal clear.

i barely play at all anymore and i have over 10k hours in the game. love what eso used to be. me and a lot of people i know who have a lot of time in the game feel the same: sick of getting excited for some cool changes only for the fun to get squashed out of the game in the next patch. we did update 35, kind of got over it. update 46 hit, fun, then with what is happening with update 47 we all kind of said "yeah im not doing another update 35". keeping an eye on forums and the pts page to see the final state of update 47 before i make a decision. but im not going to spend my time doing things in a game i might be walking away from in a couple of weeks. it's summer time afterall

Felt like every other 'summer Mayhem' to me.

PvD players like myself stick to the 7-day campaigns for AP, chasing that sweet low pop/low score. Emperors are crowned and dethroned and the choo-choo train goes on, only briefly slowed down by the occasional bomber.

Business as usual.

The only thing I have noticed is that 'farming parties' that used to be a staple of the first weekend were notably absent; I encountered a couple on Friday evening but none after. The fact that hardly anyone bites anymore might have been a contributing factor.

The majority of players I have grouped with have finally wisened up to the fact that doing the 'merry chase' around the resource towers/keep walls only nets some AP (and entertainment) to those aforementiones parties, for the rest is a waste of time and potential AP. It has only taken a decade. We're slow learners.

The campaigns where PvP happens however seemed pop capped (PC/EU), well except Ravenwatch, which used to be a place where people like myself could dip their toes on actual PvP without being ROFLStomped in 2 GCDs flat - thus learning nothing in the process - until it was reverted to a ruleset that apparently pleases no one. Winning.

I've noticed less folk too. I think it's a factor of things. Multi classing, I certainly saw what folk are saying they feel outclassed in pvp

Another is a lot of folk are sick of how this event is handled. There's a lot of folk who would rather not pvp just to get tickets. It doesn't help when there's gankers picking on people just doing the event. Yes I know the whole debate but it's still a problem when you got folk who dont' wanna deal with getting killed just getting their tickets.

Midyear mayhem is good so far on the server. Brought my people and me back to playing after 2 months break.
Just hoping it stays populated after it.
