As simple as it is, I think even a "press A to throw dices" completely RNG where you choose how much gold to gamble would attract some players and keep them in taverns for ages.
No new currencies.
No quests.
No skill lines.
No particular rewards aside from gold.
It still would work IMO. Both PvE and PvP.
And I think people were more for something like this than ToT when they asked for tavern games.
The fun comes from the social and the "surprise" elements.
(It could even be a gold sink if it had a tax percentage. Maybe put a limit to bet 1 million gold per day?)

It doesn’t work that way, though. Players just queue up wherever they are.
Also, your character disappears from the inn when playing an npc, so I’m guessing because you would get kicked for inactivity during the match if it did not.
This was always a big issue I had with ToT. It exists entirely outside of the game world, so even ignoring other issues some have with it (like not being fun, being too complex, too slow to play, etc.), it sadly fails to scratch that itch of an activity people can see and watch and join and that brings life to taverns.

I think that's what Tales of Tribute is supposed to be. A lot of the NPCs you can challenge are found in inns, and I think the idea was for players to gather there as well so they could play against each other, and obviously would have the opportunity to chat at the same time.

Yea I would definitely put up with something like Riot’s Vanguard for better performance. A lot of people have privacy concerns with that sort of thing though.
Technically Xbox could afford to have more client side calculations since you can’t download 3rd party programs on them. It seems like ESO on Xbox still handles most things on the server side anyway. Maybe there’s more of a reason they choose not to go that route.
Unfortunately, I think Vengeance is a dead end. I saw lag creeping back in simply with the introduction of weapon skill lines. In its current state it’s still a bit too simple to be fun long term and they really need to add more complexity. More complexity seems to mean more lag though, and that puts us right back to the performance we have now. I’m hoping they figure out a new approach.

ESO has always been very limiting with only one character.

- Did your ability to play and/or complete certain types of game content improve after the launch of Update 46?
I only now just touched the game after U46 launched, and I will say no to this. I grew weaker on the classes I played, and most everyone wants you to beam which is an entirely unfun playstyle. I played Magblade and MagDK in PvE. I knew the classes well enough that I could compete with pre U45 Arcanists in both ST and Cleave without much issue. Nerfs to DK sustain have made it harder to play, and NB receiving a PvE nerf in U46 and upcoming U47 is making the classes less bearable to play as if I'm forced to subclass. In PvP, I'm not feeling too much of a difference in my own abilities except against who I'm facing, especially in BGs. Everyone has access to streak which is annoying, and now that healing builds are even stronger, players can give up survivability skill lines in favor for more damaging burst combos to blow you up before you knew what happened.

@Zyaneth_Bal banner appears twice in the logs due to being double barred, and it'll be drastically reduced down to 2 per group with this update.
There are 2 major problems with fatecarver imo:
1 - it's single target damage is way too high. it shouldn't be in the same ballpark as elemental weapon or force pulse with good light attack weaving, never mind cliff racer.
2 - you either run dread for spammables, or flail for beam. because of this you can't use beam for trash / cleave and runeblades for single target. arcanist is locked into a build due to the morph of flail that they take.
Simply put, arcanist doesn't have enough crux builder or spender damage options. the class mechanic is a nice idea, but it fell woefully short on options. It needs to be able to use non class spammables as crux generators and non class dots as crux spenders to make the whole thing more dynamic and interesting, instead of locking you into only 3 skills.

Yeah, the Warden was always an odd concept. I've never understood why they needed a class that was part druid and part tanky ice mage.
It works in this way to me: DK is fire and mineral, Warden is water and life. You may notice many of the skills are similar but with this thematic difference and a slight mechanical difference: Flies and Shalks are like a ranged Claw and Breath, Polar Wind is Dragonblood, Gripping Shards is Talons, and so on and so on. There's some biological element to DK with the Dragon and Venom references, but we can construe Noxious Breath being with Corrosive in a Noxious Gas theme, like the various Sulfides that occur in mineral deposits - although many of those are Biologic, like Hydrogen Sulfide in petroleum deposits, others are Magmatic.

The one thing I've never had any use for (uh... other than necromancer....) is an ice mage. Give me fire thanks....

600+ days played character is now obsolete thanks to Subclassing
My main character, the one I've done all quests on and discovered all points of interest, found all skyshards, learned all crafting, etc. is now obsolete thanks to Subclassing. The builds that I need to stay competitive are no longer possible on my main class, so I must reroll another character and start fresh. Either that or buy skill lines from the crown store and switch characters anytime I need something crafted. You get the idea.
It's also been said before but Subclassing has distilled combat down to maybe 5 skill lines for the serious high-end competitive gameplay.
