ZOS isn't forcing you to participate in events or pursuits, the Tome system is specifically designed to have all season long to complete the majority of the challenges.

There's a lot of things to complain about, providing content for active players isn't one of them.

ESO is an MMO, which means they want you to have lots to do. Nothing to do means dead game. It’s up to us to not make it a job.

If you are not having fun managing your guild and it leaves you no time for anything else and all of your officers are leaving and nobody from the guild is pitching in… then maybe consider folding the guild. If people wanted the guild active, they’d help run it. And you deserve to do what you want to.

I think one of the underlying issues with golden pursuits is that the game makes them hard to ignore.

There is a timer, the objectives keep auto pinning them in your quest tracker, its on the announcement screen.

Even once you get them done they are still annoying.

Actually, multiclassing was and has been one of the most requested features over the life of this 10+ year old game.

I feel you, OP. I do. Honestly, I'm starting to find the game way too overstimulating. There's a constant stream of things I have to "shoo" away because they're demanding my attention. I would rather this game feel like a single player game, which have so much less stimulation and way more immersion.

From a business perspective, I get it though. There has to be some incentive to play the game. So, I don't fault them for giving us that, but it does seem overwhelming at times.

From my perspective though, I wouldn't mind less events overall. My preference would be just having permanent reward systems that we all eventually work towards, rather than so much FOMO. Like, why can't earn Trade Bars through something like IA or dungeons?

No, defeating world bosses with a companion doesn't count. I tried it yesterday.

I'm an active player, I joined slightly over 10 years ago, have finished all zones, including all quests (except for Cyrodiil because PvP doesn't interest me in ESO).

For me personally I can say: Chores don't do it. I'd go so far to say: It's not content. It's merely a task list sending people to repeat old content again and again for some currency (that can be generated endlessly without any effort by the game), or some digital clutter (which takes a bit of time to design, though doing some recolor of some crown store pet surely doesn't take the same amount of time like actually creating new playable content).

I can fully understand they can't permanently release new content. It takes time, also they have a smaller team now compared to a decade ago. I know they have to find something else to keep people busy, because people always demand "something to do", and also, because they need high login/engagement numbers (it's a company, after all).

The thing I personally fail to understand is why some players consider chore lists content, despite them bringing nothing new at all to the game (except for the new reward cosmetic, perhaps). If "kill 100 bosses" or "harvest 5x15 logs" is such a fascinating and entertaining thing to do - everyone can just do that, anytime, no need for chore lists. The logs are there, the bosses are there - go out and chop them! But for people who don't want to kill the same bosses for years, or who don't consider harvesting parsley an immersive adventure, these chore lists add basically nothing.

Well, I'm aware of course the Night Market starts in a week, and in summer, we'll get 2 storylines and several new systems - I'm curious how much content that will be, and looking forward to trying them.

I'm just curious, what about the markings are "offensive"?

I understand if someone doesn't want to collect a cosmetic and want it added to their account. I already have too many pets I never use so may skip this one so I don't have more "never going to use this" cosmetics to scroll through.

But I am genuinely curious about the actual offense as it is going over my head.

Agreed. I said in another thread that tomes should have made golden pursuits obsolete since they're the same thing - grinding out tasks for shinies.

While I understand some people claiming that one of the reasons behind these sorts of thing is to encourage players to think outside the box and try activities they don't normally do, the fact is that most of us do the activities we do because we enjoy them and won't try other activities because we already know that we don't enjoy them.

I checked out the new golden pursuits and found only seven that I would be interested or able to run, for which I would only get a couple of markings that are of no interest to me as I've never used markings and see no reason to do so now. As it happens, even if I were to run all the other pursuits the rewards wouldn't be of any real benefit to me. Then I checked out the current Tomes challenges and found only two out of twelve that would fit my playstyle. Yes I could do some rerolls but my experience of that mechanism is that it simply rerolls more of the same.

Of course these things are all optional and I could just stick to the adventuring that is my main reason for playing this or any other similar game, but these days I'm left with the feeling that in order to reach that part of the game I have to push my way past these other distractions that are nothing to do with the ESO that I fell in love with 12 years ago. Even then, if for example I happen across a treasure chest and open it as I have done these past years I am asked to claim a challenge for doing so and can't clear the screen and move on until I've done so.

It's just not why I've been here since 2014 without a single break until now, and it simply doesn't feel right.

So yes, I agree with the OP and the title to this thread, let's have a break from all these things and just be able to log straight into the meat of the game and the real content which I strongly suspect is why most of us are still here.
